This video came out at such perfect timing! I have been searching for the past couple of weeks for a retinoid cream that would actually work otc. Thanks so much Dr. Dray for your insight!
I can purchase the brand retin a cheap in the Phils with no prescription. Bought a whole years worth of product in 0.05%, my skin is tough not much irritation even with every night application, but for that whole year my skin is looking older and older. My skin looked dull, lifeless and dehydrated, even with multiple applications of suncreen a day. Bought a313 pommade, been using it for 6months now EVERY NIGHT and i have been coming to work with zero make up because i'm just glowing!
Oluchi O i started using it every night because i was already using retin a every night too, i kind of just switched with a313. I wouldn't recommend it though if you're just starting. I never personally experiece the itchiness everyone is talking about, but everyone is different, u might want to start with every second night on a completely dry face
Retin A makes my skin look dull and lifeless too. It doesn’t peel because I use acids, but it just doesn’t make my skin improve. It just dries it out. I’m seriously thinking of trying the A313, I’m just worried about possibly buying a fake on Amazon.
My experience also. I have used prescription strength Tretinoin for three years with no irritation ever. However my skin had become lifeless looking. I decided to give A313 (bought directly from the Avibon site) a try. My skin is alive again and glowing. I know it does not make sense given the medical research info however all skin is different and this has been my experience.
I just bought it. 👀 I feel like these reviews are great and in depth but you also have to take them with a grain of salt. It’s a cult favorite for a reason so you gotta kinda just see what works best for you at the end of the day!!
@Teela Tequila ....yes. I bought 2 tubes at different times, to have a supply. That's how strongly I feel about the product . And it's in French so I'm confident about the integrity of the product.
Here in Ireland the postal service offers an addresspal service. This gives you a US address so you can buy products that don't normally ship to here. I've just ordered differin using this service. For anyone outside US perhaps check if there is a service that you can use too. I'm sure there are similar address pal services in other countries.
Very interesting. I could use something like this because there’s some UV filters that are not available in the United States that are available elsewhere. Hmmm. 🤔 thanks for that! 😍
I don’t know why this works, it just does. I mix it with my peptide serum to help with the texture and reduce the slight itch. There are only two products that make my skin look this good: La Mer’s Oil Absorbing Lotion (stop using it when it crossed over $200) and the SK-II. I’m glad I tried it anyway. A313 is holy grail for me!
This is my second time using A 313 pommade, and in the morning I already see the result, my skin become smoother, I'm 26 I can't imagine if I use this cream for the rest of my life. But maybe I will try this cream for 1 year, and then I will try tretinoin. 🥰
I used A313 while living in France but I didn't care for the feel of it on my skin and pillowcase. I am back on tretinoin from my doctor. Thank you for breaking it down.
@@tarag4074 got be careful with amazon so many times they're selling imitators and another one looks almost like but only has one retinol instead of the 3 kind of retinol the original has.
A313 can't be compared with tretinoin, but it is a good product. I use it one or twice a week as a slugging product over my tretinoin. It seems to enhance the effects of tretinoin and my skin loves it. It is so smooth and plump the next morning!
Hi Dr. Dray, Thank you for your videos. They have changed my skin care behaviors tremendously and I an appreciate of your willingness to share your knowledge. You are discussing tretinoin irritation today and I would like to share my story. I use .02 tretinoin and my skin has been a scaly mess! I used la roche posay cicaplast per your recommendation and it brought my skin back to life!
Another good reminder that there’s really no reason to spend $$$ on expensive name brand retinol creams when you can get Adapalene or tretinoin with known efficacy.
Exactly. Dr. Dray has saved me sooooo much money the past few years. Btw, love pic of the puppy, it seems we had the same idea when we chose our pics. :)
I try to save money when it comes to vitamin a products but unfortunately in Australia they are very heavily regulated and not available in pharmacies (can't get Differin over the counter here. Retinol is available in over the counter skincare products.
Tango Mango A313 costs about 10 Euros that’s why everyone is so interested. Trentinoin prescription is virtually unavailable in my country and I am scrapping Internet for affordable replacement
Loved this review! There are many dupes of A313 online. I've purchased it directly in France so the list of ingredients is different than what you would get in an online "French pharmacy" or Amazon. It was not over the counter, per se, ( I had to sign documents that stated that this was a medical-grade product.) The first evening I applied this to my skin I experienced an intense tingling sensation that quickly turned into a horrible burning sensation. It was so uncomfortable I had to wash my face to remove it-and even after washing my face, I could still feel it burning. I was shocked because I don't consider myself to have ultra-sensitive skin ( As a point of reference, I've used Retin-A 0.05 and hadn't experienced the degree of irritation I experienced with A313-not even when I first started Retin-A.) After some research, I tried A313 again but applying moisturizer first, and then A313 on top. It still felt quite uncomfortable, but not as much as the first evening. I had to apply it every other day to build tolerance, and the burning I felt (even with the moisturizer) faded entirely after days. In terms of results, peeling does occur, some dark spots I had faded, and it does make my skin look super supple and hydrated.
I've used the a313 for well over 4 years. No issues. Hydrated and beautiful skin! I purchased from French pharmacy only. FYI, we own a drugstore. I can use any form. For free. I still choose a313.
Hello my dear Dr. Dray! Interesting video, I had been hearing some buzz about this product lately. I am so loving tretinoin. Funny thing, after 4 months of use of the .025%, my dermatologist renewed my prescription to .05% without me realizing it! Crazy, right? But it is working beautifully, no irritation whatsoever, just a tad of peeling. So I am cutting back to every other day for a few weeks until my skin gets acclimated. God bless you and thank you for sharing with us all your wealth of knowledge. You are truly amazing, and a lovely soul to boot (you, mom and darling Tybee). Thank you, Dr. Dray, with all of my heart, for properly educating me about skincare. I looove using my sunscreen daily, too!!!! My 57 year old skin thanks you immeasurably Xoxo
I have been using La Roche Posay Effaclar since you had a video on it a while back. It is really a lot easier for me to use then Retin A. I started out slowly a few times a week w/some sort of lotion or cream and no problems w/irritation. 🌺
It works and it is really strong .for me at least, peeling, itching , redness... I thought meh it will not work coz everyone says it is weak...i was so wrong
Thank you Dr. Dray for your honest review. I have been on Tret for 5 years and I recently tried this...Theoretically this a313 should be significantly inferior to Tret. However, I started peeling the next day. I thought my skin is now fully retinized why would it do that?! However, I am keeping my eyes open. I alternate nights between this and my 0.5 Tretinoin. :)
I'd say peeling doesn't mean it's having the same effect as retinoic acid. Many things can make you peel. There are several esters in the A313 and at least one of them has a molecular structure that is too large to penetrate the skin. It may be having an exfoliating effect on the outer most layer of the skin.
Hydroquinone is forbidden in the EU and there are other ingredients that are very effective and safer than hq (cysteamine, tranexamic acid i.e)! So I'm curious why it's still so widely used in the US :)
I've heard of it and was interested in it at one point. Heard it's really popular in Europe (I think it's from France). It's great you are reviewing this! Thanks
I just ordered A313. I can't get tretinoin or adapalene/differin without a prescription. The A313 was only £13 and I've seen amazing reviews. So I dont see any harm in trying it.
@@moonriver2000 I bought mine from Amazon months ago but I just looked...the price has shot up like crazy!! I actually use tretinoin now. I got it from an online dermatology service. I think there's Curology and Dermatica in the US if you want to use prescription strength retinoids.

monica warren A313 Pommade is a cosmeceutical product; it is a retinyl ester, so a prescription is not required in the U.S. or anywhere else. Retinyl esters have a lower efficacy compared to Retinols. A313 is not a retinoid. There are three retinoids; 2 are prescription medications (Tretinoin, Tazarotene) and 1 is an over-the-counter medication (Adapalene).
I have been using Neutrogena and I'm on my second jar and it's already helped erase fine lines and lightened my sun spots. I top it off with rosehip oil and I look 10 years younger.
Thanks for giving us the facts. With all the hype about the product I hadn’t heard a science Information based review. Great information. I even learned some new things I didn’t know about other products!
Thanks very much for this information. I had a lot of irritation with Retin-A, so I have been using A313 pommade, so I am going to pick up some Adapaline and see how that goes!
Tretinoin works tremendously and takes a long time to truly see results but worth it. Great video Dr. Dray! Every time you mentioned ester it made me think of Aunt Esther from the TV series Sanford and Son 😂 Fred “Lamont put your sunscreen on you big dummy!” Happy Wednesday! ☕️⭐️
I just started using A313 and I am questioning if we are given the real list of ingredients. There is a strong smell of vinegar at times to it and when it's applied on the skin it can burn and itch if you don't mix it with a moisturizer. Within 1 week it had faded my age spots...I am 65...and I am thinking to myself, what the heck is going on with this stuff? I wish we could take a tube of this A313 and take it to a US lab to find out what is really in it. I have used the strongest Retin a without a bit of redness or irritation....but the A313 turned my face red and plumped my face up like I had taken steroids. I would not recommend this cream until I understood better what truly is in it. Thank you for your review!!!
I hope to see more testing of Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) because it needs no metabolic conversion and will bind directly to all three retinoic acid receptors (RAR). Adapalene only binds to two RAR. I use 0.06% Tretinoin, but I am still interested in seeing how HPR ends up performing long-term.
@Crucibelle I doubt highly that Beauty by Ann Marie was anything less than 100% honest in her review. In fact it has been my experience this group of women in their wiser years speaks the truth.
Thank you, Dr. Dray. I was one of those who asked for the review. You've said you used retinol for your hands for some time. Does it mean you don't use your tretinoin for your hands?
Omg I searched so long to get my hands on The avene RetrinAl but it doesn't seem to exist in Europe, but apparently it's called Avène PhysioLift Precision Wrinkle Filler here, so yay! just got me some. Thought I'd share here in case some other ppl here are having trouble fining it. Btw A313 makes my skin peel like crazy, tingle and get red
I use Skin Scrips retinaldehyde 1% at night.#1) Is the absorbtion and conversion complete by the AM so my AM antioxidents won't cancel it out? #2) Should I avoid antioxidents on retinaldehyde nights? (I use vitamin C only in the AM.) Thank you for this video. So many RUclips influencers are getting on the A313 wagon, even after they have used Tret for years. I can't understand why they would ever take this step backwards.
Joan Nogas Have you watched the video titled, “RETINALDEHYDE VS RETINOL FOR ANTI-AGING| DR DRAY” yet? If not, I recommend you check it out as it may provide answers to your questions. You can easily find it by typing “dr dray retinaldehyde” in the RUclips search bar.
I hear some very great things about A313. I wonder if this study tested delivery systems as well as just the retinaldehyde cause I think that’s where the A313 has an edge.
I recently tried a retinol cream that you mentioned on an earlier video. It was was the first "anti aging" product I've ever used and something happened that never crossed my mind. I have a scar on my forehead from chicken pox. And within a few days I noticed it shrinking. I've had it for so long that I was use to it and didn't pay much attention to it until now.

This product is so popular in France my daughter-in-law who is French goes once a year and she went this past August and she couldn’t find it nowhere they said it was on back order at all the pharmacies.
I am hoping at some point you’ll talk about the benefits/drawbacks of switching formulas. I’ve been using Medik8 for several months now and added A313 a couple times a week and my skin seems much more glowy. Is there a reason to switch it up on our skin or does this seem like wishful thinking?
Just because the tests are done in the us for certain products it doesn't mean that's what it is! Cereve and I did for a whole year and did nothing for my skin but year it's easy to use but then again what's the point if it's easy on your skin but in the long run does nothing. so I would not mind trying something from somewhere else

I bought it A313... and started about a week ago or so, it's working for me and I like it....💗
I bought it too and have been using it for about a week and I like it as well.
When you say it's working for you, only after a week, what do you mean by that? Thanks!
@@HollyL56 .... it's sloughing off skin... I'm peeling!
@@seona6549 Interesting, thanks for sharing.
@@HollyL56 .... i like because it's gentle, without over drying or peeling excessively. I've become more sensitive.... and it's a great price.
Mel B did you have to build up to using it every night?
I love pomade A313 . I’ve seen results in my skin , won’t stop .👍🏻
I just started using it. So far I like it.
I’ve also experiencing great results!!
I love it
I just bought it. 👀 I feel like these reviews are great and in depth but you also have to take them with a grain of salt. It’s a cult favorite for a reason so you gotta kinda just see what works best for you at the end of the day!!
Tayluna I agree! Good results are good results whether or not the science is there yet.
I LOVE A313. ♥️
Yea.... i just started it last week, so far it's working for me and I like it ...💗
Anne Zimmermann I use 313 and I really love it. It works 😁
@@ninav7429 .... I'm very excited to get started, I used another product in September it was to harsh.
I also like its in a pomade I have dry skin💗
Me too
@Teela Tequila ....yes.
How is it going so far??
girl you can do both or whatever you want, your comment looks like something is stopping you and you have to use products till end
I used A313 while living in France but I didn't care for the feel of it on my skin and pillowcase. I am back on tretinoin from my doctor. Thank you for breaking it down.
Carol Laurence thanks for watching
I've been using A313 for years and love it!
Where do you purchase your a313
Pat Braden it’s sold on amazon!
I bought mine at Avibon.

Hi Dr. Dray,
Thank you for your videos.

Cute ^^
I try to save money when it comes to vitamin a products but unfortunately in Australia they are very heavily regulated and not available in pharmacies (can't get Differin over the counter here. Retinol is available in over the counter skincare products.
Tango Mango A313 costs about 10 Euros that’s why everyone is so interested. Trentinoin prescription is virtually unavailable in my country and I am scrapping Internet for affordable replacement
Sarka Halastova Ah, I’m sorry I did not know that. I thought drugs, in general, were more regulated here in the U.S.
I hv tried both cerave( purple)and A313 and for me don't know why but A313 always show sooner results and works better for my acne.
Do you know of any online stores that sell the authentic product sold in France?💗
😳 this goes against everything she just said. I’m so confused! Ugh!
I've used the a313 for well over 4 years. No issues. Hydrated and beautiful skin! I purchased from French pharmacy only. FYI, we own a drugstore. I can use any form. For free. I still choose a313.
Hii could you tell me ingredients in a313 that you used?

A313 has worked wonders for me for years. Strangers compliment my skin
Hi!! I've been using 0.1% for over a year now, is that a low percentage? Wonder if I can increase and be fine?
Lavonna Hinson That is the strongest. 0.025% is lower than 0.05% which is lower than 0.1%
Oh so I'm using the strongest percentage!!! Lol I thought it was low.
I am really liking this product. My shaving irritations have disappeared after using this product
Same for me.
Thank you for explaining the differences extremely well.
April Santiano hi! Did tretinoin helps with fine lines under the eyes? Have you seen any improvement in that area? 😊
I'd say peeling doesn't mean it's having the same effect as retinoic acid. Many things can make you peel. There are several esters in the A313 and at least one of them has a molecular structure that is too large to penetrate the skin. It may be having an exfoliating effect on the outer most layer of the skin.
Evidence based science for the win....always with Dr Dray!
Dr. Dray! Please review the new Differin Hydroquinone 2% !!!!
It has fragrance😩
Hydroquinone is forbidden in the EU and there are other ingredients that are very effective and safer than hq (cysteamine, tranexamic acid i.e)! So I'm curious why it's still so widely used in the US :)
Ariella Amaral i found it at Walmart, that’s why I’m so intrigued
Thank you for explaining and breaking down the various products.
Avene is stronger than A313? Strange my skin is perfect on A313.
Where did you order it? I see it going for $30 online

monica warren A313 Pommade is a cosmeceutical product; it is a retinyl ester, so a prescription is not required in the U.S. or anywhere else.

@Crucibelle I have the real McCoy here and I am very suspicious...!!!
Wow, surprising review after several great mature influencers said such glowing things!
@Crucibelle I doubt highly that Beauty by Ann Marie was anything less than 100% honest in her review. In fact it has been my experience this group of women in their wiser years speaks the truth.

Dr Dray, it looks like you have new hair growth around your hairline. Is that from your laser cap?
I hear some very great things about A313. I wonder if this study tested delivery systems as well as just the retinaldehyde cause I think that’s where the A313 has an edge.
I recently tried a retinol cream that you mentioned on an earlier video. It was was the first "anti aging" product I've ever used and something happened that never crossed my mind. Just because the tests are done in the us for certain products it doesn't mean that's what it is!
