When somebody asks what you are replying white doesn’t mean crap..... white people can be English, Scottish, welsh, Russian, French, Dutch, Scandinavian etc we can obviously tell what colour you are.
@@courtneyhawkins4072 and normally you can tell what kind of white person they are base on their accent and a lot of time even by look. Russians look much different than French and so on. But then again, with all the breeding we've had for the last thousands of years maybe white people are looking similar lol
@@courtneyhawkins4072 Honestly, this is an american show. People in US are mixed. What is he supposed to say - Irish-English-German on one side and Polish-North Italian-Dutch on the other? If he would be at least 50/50, he would probably say it. If he would consider himself one ethnicity only, he would probably say it as well. He obviously doesn't put much importance to his DNA mix. She, on the other hand, is probably first or possibly second generation Guyanese in US and identifies herself as Guyanese.
@@chaddeverger3827This is an American show. The guy is American with European ancestry. His accent won't tell you anything about where his ancestors came from and neither will his facial features (he's probably mixed, because otherwise he would say what he identifies as).

My husband and i are interracial couple and 3 years later we still get stares lol. We are so used to it now i think it's hilarious. You guys live your life and continue to love each other.

I'm in an interracial marriage and i never notice or maybe it never bothers me what people think. And dont always assume that their reactions are negative. When people 'assume' its just because things are not common thats all, it is not that they are perceiving something bad about you. Wear it proud and dont have a chip on the shoulder. As long as someone is not rude or disrespectful just enjoy your life, laugh about it, teach others by example, make friends.... people are not your enemy. If you have a good attitude about it, you can embrace ALL differences and uniqueness in yourself and others.

I’m Black British and my partner is White British. My partner is very aware when it comes to white supremacy, privilege, sexism, homophobia and also racism. He’s very supportive.
He’s loving, sweet, understanding , funny and an absolute joy to be around. Best relationship I’ve ever been in. Plus his whole family loves me, they support us and always make me feel welcome❤️

What I'm trying to say is the commenter said white isn't one race because multiple ethnicities are white, but multiple ethnicities being white does not mean they don't belong to the same race. Just do you; strangers do not matter. As I black woman I get alot of negative looks and comments when I am out with a man of a different race. I mostly get that from men of my own background, which is hilarious since they absolutely do not show interest in me when I am alone.
Lord, they are so young! 20 and 22! That age they care about what people think! It doesn't matter because when they get past 35-40; they will only care about their income and life! We will just love their love! 👍🏆👍❤
I grew up in a predominately white city so as a kid and I too would get uncomfortable with people looking at me. But as I got older and got more confident I got used to it and now just assume everyone looks at me anyways when I enter a room. I even notice I can use it as an advantage to take over a room because everyone just seems a little curious. I do notice that some white girls I've dated feel uncomfortable by the stares and I try to assuage her uneasiness with humor and make her forget about it all. But if a girl still feels uneasy after a while (multiple dates) then it's time to move on. She may be really nice and all but I need a woman who isn't ashamed to be with me, I want a woman who can bask in the sunlight with me.
When she said "I'm 20" and he said "I'm 22" I was hoping he would've said "I'm 22 and white" 🤣🤣

Out of all the hosts I've seen on TV (Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, Ellen) Steve's the best. He listens and stays on topic, gives advice, and make you laugh in joy at your wrong answers and embarrassments. He makes you feel confident in who you are and that's what I love about him.

It's true. If you're in a relationship with someone, and you love each other so much that you'll end up married, it doesn't matter where you're from as long as you're both happy together. Your own opinion count for the two of you, everyone else doesn't matter or shouldn't matter.
It can be hard though. My parents married in our country of Canada, before interracial marriage was legal in some states of the USA! It's important to consider how the society is going to view you - not to reconsider marriage, but to be aware, and prepare for how you respond in a manner that brings YOU peace, and your children, peace.

It's true, they need to focus on themselves since there will still always be people doing it, but I honestly think that if he stepped up some boyfriend energy, it would help. I would tell her, if anyone steps between you all, just say 'excuse me' and go back beside him. People are rude and make assumptions. You don't need to hold on to him all the time to get your point across. Let people know when they over-step the boundaries of your relationship.

This is not just an interracial issue. It happens to me too whenever I'm with other women around(of the same race, whether it's my sister or other women) - people just assume things based on how they see you interact with the people around. If they see you more friendly with your cousin than with your boyfriend(cause you said you're not really that touchy with your boyfriend - which is a problem YOU have) then people will assume you're closer to your cousin. And that's not because you and your cousin have similar skin tones.
Maybe you should stop seeing everything through the race lens.

Been in an interracial relationship for almost a quarter century. White, Asian in Idaho. I rarely notice stares if any. Most redponse or interactions in public are positive.
Maybe they should try to wear matching colors (like how they both had blue on). I notice a lot of couples match each other's outfit and that helps to establish they are on the same team.

Steve really didn’t address her question. She didn’t ask for advice on how to handle what people think of her and him. She asked for advice on how to handle people being dismissive and rude towards her and them and assuming that she is not with him even when she is standing right next to him. Although, that is hard to give advice about. Short of her being rude right back I don’t know what she could do. The boyfriend needs to say something when he notices it. It would go a long way in helping her feel better. Even though they aren’t the types more PDA might also help.
