One thing that tripped me up with the GoPro is the 2.7k quality... on some phones (mine included) its hard for the phone to support it so it's quite glitchy (only matters if your just getting the clips on your phone like I am) so if that doesn't work I think 1080p is just as good. Another thing is that I think a leash is important if your surfing heavier waves where you could lose the GoPro. The floaty works but if it gets caught in a rip or similar while your getting worked it's easy to lose it. Even just a bit of string around you neck is fine just to make sure. Epic tips though, just thought I would add some things that I have learnt so far! 🤙🤙

Would you recommend using the 8:7 aspect ratio or using the horizon lock on the hero 11 or just keep it with the 16:19 at wide with stabilisation on?
Depends what content you’re trying to capture! If you want to make reels and stuff then 8:7 is definitely key. I personally don’t like horizon lock as for me at least vlogging with it on my hero 10 has made the footage shakier. But for pov surfing you never want to shoot in wide. You need to do SUPERVIEW to get the widest FOV possible 🔥
@@SurfingWithNoz do you think it would be best to shoot in 8:7 and crop to 9:16 so I have both ratios to use or use the orientation lock and use superview? Thanks man! I’m going to a wave pool on Saturday so I want to get the settings right!

I don’t! Try find the best prices on Google though, otherwise you can always trust the official GoPro website 🤙🏽
Nuggets: If you use the mouth thing and you fall, will it like hurt you or make you let go of it?
Thanks for making to the end mate!! And I’ve hurt my teeth maybe 5-10x out of 1000s of waves with it in so it’s very rare. It has rubber all around it

Wouldn't this mouth piece break my teeth when I fall?
Good question! I’ve only hurt my teeth a couple times. The screw you tighten the mount with can be adjusted. So if you have it slightly looser, the GoPro can be pointed up/down. Meaning when you fall, it will swing upwards.
Which saves your teeth. If it was ultra tight and GoPro didn’t move. You’d hurt them. But you’d need an extremely powerful wave to break them
