Tears of joy are the best tears of all. The history must have been wonderful.
I adored Roald Dahl books as a child, he and Ted Hughes were my favourite childhood authors. I remember that the summer I broke my ankle I borrowed The BFG from the library and sat in my bedroom window for two days solidly reading. I think my favourite still is George’s Marvellous Medicine. Grandma got what she deserved.
Your emotions were lovely to see. People touch our lives in very different ways, and books can be a very big part of that. I cried my heart out when Gene Wilder died as for me he was Willy Wonka. We connect with the characters.
Thank you!
Kari, your emotion is beautiful. I'm so happy you were able to share what could well be a once in a lifetime visit with your children. To hazard a guess, I'd suggest that is why you cried on your trip over here. Making special memories and doing meaningful things. Very touching. Thank you for sharing with us.
Your girls are absolutely adorable. I think it's wonderful that you took them to the grave of such an amazing author. History is everywhere. Love you and your channel.
Wow! What fortunate kids to have such parents.
What an awesome experience to share with your adorable girls!!!
He was such a brilliant author. My grandchildren and I just finished James and the Giant Peach a few weeks ago. Your little ones are so beautiful just like their momma. I always get emotional at cemetery's. I'm not sure if it's the pure pecefullnuss that's there or if it's just appreciating life in the moment and realizing how short it can be. Tomorrow is never promised. Thank you for sharing.
Very sweet, very wonderful, and so awesome you are there with your family !! Have a great time and wishing you the very best !!!!
that little munchkin is adorable and glad you all had a good time
what a great experience!
Matilda was a huge part of my childhood♡
Aww. You cry I cry with you.
Awww this is such a precious video. Thank you for sharing ❤️
Aw that's where you went! I'm so happy that's who you went to see. He may have been a controversial person but his books are wonderful and will always be special. Matilda was the first time I ever had true book grief, when it ended I didn't know what to do with myself, I felt so sad. I hope you had a wonderful day, a memorable one. x
This was a very good one Kari you diffintly have a true calling. Glad you had a good time I like the old building it reminds me of spring grove cemetery.
I absolutely love Roald Dahl's works and was a huge fan of Tales of the Unexpected. Roald was a close friend of Ian Fleming and he would speak from time to time of their chats together. It would've been amazing to sit in on one of those.
Flemming was an MI-5 Agent and he was acquainted with none other than MI-5 Aleister Crowley. No wonder Flemming had such a fertile mind for notorious James Bond villains such as Dr. No and Goldfinger as well as the high tech cars and spy equipment.
Kinda makes you wonder if Dahl was introduced to him too... magikal thinking.
Lovely trip! Your daughter reminds me of Bailee Madison from Once Upon A Time.
That is so beautiful...to honor an author they are getting to know..or know and to have it be history and fun and connect to what you do and is done everywhere in different ways and not be maudlin but special....real...how someone lives on in heaven and here through what he left behind for both kids and adults..it is so tender and rich and every angle of what you stand for as an active involved mother and your career and puts reason for everyone there in your trip..I would cry too..it is wondrous...to include your kids and have something be so for everyone and special and unique excursion for you and them...moms want it for everyone...such a big trip too..definitely a peak experience.
Must have been wonderful to see. I read is books when I was kid. I love this video.
Wow, I never heard of him before, but I've heard of some of the stories. A little after my time. I feel the same way about all the history in England. I hope I get to go someday. xoxo
It would be a great adventure!
One fantastic author! Thank you so much for sharing this!
That’s neat. Glad y’all had a great trip
The pic of you in the top hat is cool, maybe you could be on Doctor Who 🙂
Yass!!
you're such an awesome person and it shows through your videos! so glad you got this experience with your little girls!!
Oh no! 6 more mins to go!
That was sweet actually.
Your daughter is the CUTEST!!!
If I were to visit an author's grave, I would like to see John Steinbeck's grave.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure he's buried here in California, though he was born here and his extended family is still here.
Guess I will have to look that up.
Were I to travel to the UK, I would like to see the graves of C. S. Lewis and Winston Churchill.
I am a reader and appreciate a good author. But these two men made a difference.
Nice video but I had to go to find a grave to actually read the epitaph.
