- Join me for a walk through the heart of the delightful Buckinghamshire village of Great Missenden, home to one of the most affluent communities in England, as well as a collection of interesting history! Once an important stopping point on a road connecting London with the Midlands, this small village has since gained recognition as the long-time home of legendary author Roald Dahl.
On our walk through Great Missenden, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including The Cross Keys Pub, Great Missenden Baptist Church, the old White Lion Pub, the old Red Lion Pub, the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre, the George Ale House and the Church of St. Peter & St. Paul.

Good evening! And welcome to a brief walk through the heart of one of England's most affluent areas - Great Missenden! More than just a 'great' place to live, this village is home to some rather surprising history, best-known as the home of writer Roald Dahl for 36 years!
We mentioned on our walk that Dahl lived at 'Gipsy House' on the edge of the village. There, he wrote many of his most famous works, although most of his writing took place in a small hut that he had in the garden - away from the inspirational countryside and scenery that surrounded him and his family :)
I had the privilege to live in this village for 6+ years. Really loved my time there. The people and schools are great. Great walks in the forest and around the villages.
Fabulous! Thanks! 🎸🎶✍️🚶🏻
Nothing quite like ole Missy in the summer!

nice walk, thanks, but for me it reinforces how much I prefer the narrated videos
Seems like a lovely village. What a shame yopur opening sequence was spoiled a wee bit by the ever-present Costa Fortune coffee joint. A "Great Missenden Tea-Rooms" would look so much more appropriate.
Funnily enough, there's an independent café called Matilda's next to the Costa. Unfortunately, you couldn't see it in the video as it's to the right and set a few feet back from Costa. You'll no doubt be pleased to hear that Matilda's is very popular, whereas Costa appears to have very few customers. At least that appears to be the case every time I drive past. There's also a nice little independent bar around the corner called Wild Kite Bottleshop. 🙂
I live there
