We have tons of leaves, tons of acorns, some pine cones, and of course plenty or twigs. A few years ago my neighbor's son had his buddy clean their yard with a small parking lot sweeper - that thing picked up *_everything_* and in record time. His lawn looked awesome afterward.
I've been eyeballing one of these at the big box store, and I'm so glad i stumbled onto this gem of a review. It's real nice like... and now i am convinced i need one! 😂
Awesome video. Maybe you’ve figured the following out by now. Putting the bag on is actually very easy. I had to find out trial & error just like you. Here’s how ya do it: Pull the double latch back just like you do when removing the bag. Then put the bag on exactly reverse of how you took the bag off. With the “release” double latch pulled back with one hand, position the mount of the bag right above the discharge hole. Then slide the bag mount down over the discharge chute. This should put it flush or “joined” with the discharge hole. Release the “Release” double latch and you’re good to go! Hope this helps! 😊
I am 75 years old, and have used this same vacuum for several seasons now. No Problems At All. The bag is actually Super Easy to re-attach back onto the vacuum, and when attached correctly, the rubber covered safety switch will automatically be depressed. The Super Easy & Fast way to do it is ... first take a close look at the bag - vacuum interface. Look at the bag's plastic chute design and shape while also looking at the matching shape of the sheet metal interface shroud that surrounds the exhaust opening. This examination of the two mating parts takes a second or two or just ask any child that plays with Legos to help. I will assume that you are right-handed and that you are on the right side (facing forward) of the machine. Observe that the plastic chute will perfectly fit and slide vertically straight down over the matching shape of the sheet metal shroud of the exhaust outlet. 1) first, attach the bag to the top of the control handle using the plastic clamp 2) with your right hand, slide the spring loaded brass locking rail to the fully Unlocked position. While holding the lock rail Unlocked, 3) use your left hand, holding the pistol grip of the chute and carefully lower the aligned chute straight down to cover and seal the matching sheet metal interface of the exhaust outlet. Once the chute is seated squarely in place, the safety button (under the rubber protector) will automatically be depressed. 4) release the spring rail, attach the bag straps and you are done. With practice, this entire process takes 8-10 seconds.
Bought a Craftsmen model about 10 years ago. It came with a side discharge attachment to put on where the bag goes. Not only does it suck, suck, chip it blows too.
I could see this as a good pick up for a guy who has a reel mower and needs something to help clean up debris and doesn’t have a rotary. However if you have a rotary mower and blower I think it’s probably a tool most people could pass on
I’ve had one of these for many years. Just throw out the hose thing and use a powerful blower to pile up the leaves and suck them up with the big nozzle instead of the hose. This bag is terrible to remove and empty. It gets heave and plugged, so you have to lift and pull the leaves out, it’s exhausting.
This is why you don’t wait until all of the leaves fall to use a blower or a vacuum. You do this once a week or so like mowing in the fall. It’s much easier and more effective
@@UhBuddy1976 I had a large vacuum system years ago and wasn't a fan. I use my yard tractor and the baggin' system. That bag connection seems like a problem with my lower back.

have a leaf vac also. Taking the bag off at the front turned out to be a hassle because the vac will not start unless the front gets connected absolutely perfectly. I therefore take the leaves out the rear of the collection bag.
HOLY CRAP!! That thing makes black gold of mulch material for gardens! Throw your grass clippings on top, mix a bit, layer it out, and by 3 or 4 months later you'll have some good garden filler material.
@4:23, take one hand and pull the horizontal bar toward the engine, then place the bag collar onto the mower, and the bag collar will slide down atop and depress the sensor button, release the horizontal bar. It is not difficult. This vacuum is made by MTD as well as are Club-cadets.
This is a neat machine -- But, as a landscaper. Definitely very light blowing can get the leaves out of gardens & trampoline, etc, without blowing out most mulch (if you are not pressing down trigger full throttle like a crazy person the whole time) -- Then, just mowing over with a push mower, or larger mower can shred & make most of the bulk leaves disappear with 1-2 passes. This machine is neat, but sort of unnecessary extra product. Neat features though. Thanks for the review. We need folks giving us up close analysis & demos for these products to help us narrow down what we could or should buy to help make our lives easier.
A local equipment store was having a retirement liquidation auction of the Crary-Bearcat version of this machine. The only thing it didn't have compared to the Troy-Bilt was the little chipper. Granted, the Crary-Bearcat had three forward gears. I ended up passing on it since it went above how much I was willing to pay. Overall, I think the addition of the small chipper is a bonus compared to it just being a vacuum
I have the Craftsman version that somebody in my neighborhood just happened to throw out. Mine does have the shepherd and it is also self-propelled with the different speeds. All I needed was the carburetor cleaned.
This looks like my yard. From fall to winter I spend 1-2 hours per day cleaning up leaves. 60% of leaves comes from the church trees next door. I eastimate I clean up at least 2+ million leaves each season. I don't complain to the church because having a church as neighbors is the best type of neighbor I could have. On the other side is city community garden. Far better than having low rent housing were people get drunk and have parties until 5am 7 days a week. :)
Actually it is pretty awesome for cleaning up smaller areas and areas that it is hard to blow the leaves out of. The big lawn areas I use my 36" mower to mulch then run over the lawn again with the bag on
I owned one. More of a headache than it's worth. Don't expect to do 10 yards a day with it. Although it'd be good for a tiny yard with very dry leaves.
I dump dry leaves into a 40 gallon container, step inside the container and crush them for about 1 minute, then put a 55 gallon biodegradable bag on top the container and tip it over into the bag. :-)
The thing is if you have property surrounded by trees like I do. No good. You would be emptying the bag every 20 feet. My daughter thought that if she got the system for her ride John Deere lawn mower all her leaf problems would be solved - she only has 1 acre. The bags would fill up in no time rendering the whole process useless. The system was a $400 upgrade. So I had to assemble, disassemble & use my truck to return it. Consider how many bag loads are on your lawn - literally hundreds. Do you want to attach & re-attach the bag hundreds of times & lug it to dump wherever? At least with the ride on you are not lugging. You have to keep up with it. I just use the leaf blower & blow into the woods. Luckily my property so no neighbors bitching & use the ride on John Deere with regular lawn blades to chop up the residue (no switching to mulch blades BS)! Raking looks more effective, and I really don't need a useless bulky, loud , machine taking up my space , its a largely plastic product, contrived obsolescence. Pushing that around is more work that blowing but looks to me about equal investment of time either way , I prefer to get some exercise that way, then spend my money or space on that bulky pos.
So Clint...I thought cleaning up leaves was one of the benefits of the super powerful Milwaukee mower. What happened with that??? Long term followup with these recommended products would make for good videos.
I don't have the Milwaukee, but I do have the top of the line (well, last year's) Ryobi, and it's been mulching leaves pretty well so far this year. Problem is that I might end up with too much mulch, so I'm still going to have to get rid of some leaves (but far fewer than last year).

Complete trash let's get real. That bag is full in 2 minutes and dumping it is a pain.
real nass like.
this machine is fine if you want to make a career outta collecting leaves
We need that electric from ryobi
works like crap😅😅
$1000! 😮
wrong model number .
Look at a Billy goat, much better vacuum, bagger.
Thank
Any jams thats BS I own one and it always gets clogged Pain in the ass
No hose clogs?! Traditional ShopVacs hate leaves.
Raking looks more effective, and I really don't need a useless bulky, loud , machine taking up my space , its a largely plastic product, contrived obsolescence. Pushing that around is more work that blowing but looks to me about equal investment of time either way , I prefer to get some exercise that way, then spend my money or space on that bulky pos.
trash😅
I don't like this, it made the man look like a lady.lols
Looks very weak with the vacuum hoes.
too tiny
So Clint...I thought cleaning up leaves was one of the benefits of the super powerful Milwaukee mower. What happened with that??? Long term followup with these recommended products would make for good videos.
I don't have the Milwaukee, but I do have the top of the line (well, last year's) Ryobi, and it's been mulching leaves pretty well so far this year. Problem is that I might end up with too much mulch, so I'm still going to have to get rid of some leaves (but far fewer than last year).
