- For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... As a Reverb junkie, I always used to skip the PLATEAUX on the Helix, as the default settings are kind of...Whatever. Actually there's a whole lot of loveliness available with this effect.

Wow, great sounds! This channel should be called the Helix Companion Channel. A nice reverb is often the only effect that would be needed. My electric guitars sound beautiful even without an amp, just add reverb.
As long as I been watching your channel..... Your Helix tones never fail to impress me lol ... Probably why I ended up getting one. Love the way the reverb in this chimes every single note . Awesome 👍 playing . Thanks for the demo of this particular reverb in HX. I'm inspired to experiment more with it now...
Man that is a bit of loveliness. All Helix is really missing in the reverb section is a nice tasty plate.
A new plate could be awesome. Dynamic Plate
@@johnnathancordy Exactly. I play with a bright plate 90% of the time. I believe Line 6 should be able to build a plate on par with Valhalla vintage verb, Meris M7 and such. That's basically the only thing I think the helix system is missing at the moment.
@@johnnathancordy I'd bet money that's going to be in the next update in 2022.
Smart to run them parallel so as not to overwhelm your core tone.
Oh my, with that long decay ... I think you found something quite similar to my beloved Sky 5000 pedal!
Just beautiful ! 🎼
I tried the setting you showcased and tweak them to my liking and learned something, I really dig your big reverb sounds but I can’t play them without feeling weird !
Too mutch decay and mix, I’m used to play with short reverbs, It might take me a bit of time to adjust to those reverbs but I love the way you play with it !
Leo
very nice explanation John! This is very useful
That is Ridiculously Lush AF! Man Thank You 🙏 This is Awesome!!!!! Thanks John
The reason why in the default settings the Pitch -12 is tuned down Cents -0.80, and Pitch +7 is tuned up Cents +0.40 might not be random. There may be some sort of a principle - the higher up the pitch is, the sharper is its fine-tuning. Like how pianos are "stretch-tuned" - low octaves slightly low and high octaves slightly high. I'm interested in further details if someone can point to a source which confirms that the same might be done for pitched delay/reverb. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stretched_tuning
Nice tone and playing!
I’m a bit of a reverb snob and that is why I don’t own a helix. Any time I have played or heard the reverbs they are at best average. (With exclusion of particle) As a shimmer Plateaux is equally average, but you have shown that through tweaking you can get a decent result. The reverb still sits on top of the instrument rather than is part of the sound, but only stand-alone pedals such as the Chase Bliss CXM or Méris Mercury seem to achieve this. Personally I still use old Lexicon rack units. Great playing by the way.
Have you tried the fractal ?
@@lukather1 No I haven’t, but everything I’ve heard and seen suggests it is pretty good compared to the Helix.
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO USE AUX IN TO PLAY BACKING TRACK FROM MOBILE..!!
Have you gotten to compare to the Blue/Big Sky? You have this verb sounding really nice. You’re probably my favorite Helix-tubers - you can really play!
Hi, I recently acquired Helix Native. As a Big Sky user, my opinion is that for plate and shimmer reverbs, Helix is not really in the same league. However, I like some of the legacy reverbs on the Helix and I think that the spring reverbs may even outperform those on the Big Sky. To my ears in any case.
@@redrugambientguitar8852 Do you have an example video of the kind of Big Sky reverb type or character that's kind of not there in Helix?
@@yzimsx Sure. Here's a couple of examples of how I like to use the plate mode. ruclips.net/video/XmqPM1MUjYA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/U3lwqgM0cOY/видео.html
@@redrugambientguitar8852 Thanks, nice stuff. Though I must say I can't quite hear which aspect about the reverb is relevant there - these things all sound great and very inspiring to me. I can even get the cheap Mooer Ocean Machine's reverb to sound impressive if I turn down the tone knob low enough. Here's an ambient jam with only the Ocean Machine, no other effects, no amp sim ruclips.net/video/7LDePmXEfJw/видео.html
@@yzimsx Great stuff! The Mooer sounds like a really nice unit. I suppose it's debatable whether the Big Sky still holds its own given that it was released a while back. I still find it a really inspirational tool.
this is excellent. one of my favorite features on a reverb pedal was momentary shimmer on the neunaber seraphim, i'll have to experiment with this to see if i can get something similar.
do the double tank?
Is there a preset available for this? I’ve tried to dial it in following your video but not quite getting there. I suspect amp/cab combo at play.
Really nice job 👍
You put the 'eaux' in 'Plateaux'
The audio is better in this video
incredible sound! I tried to set the plateaux on my HX Stomp but the pitch gets always out of tune like a heavy modulation filter is acting. Anyway I set the cents 1 and 2 to 0 and also all the modulation and pre delay off but I can't get the clean shimmering sound you have, weird! Maybe you know the issue.
there's a low frequency hum... seems like a motor or something being picked up by a mic.
That's my Wife out in the garage (seriously)
@@johnnathancordy you should let her out 😁
13:17 What is the significance of the stereo dual delay in the split? I'm thinking about using just the lower split in a mono send/return and I'm wondering what I'd lose in mono.
That may not have been intentional. Many of the mods & reverbs default to stereo when they're selected iirc.
Hey Johnnathan , i purchased the effects pack but i never got an email to the link .... help
What's the email I'll just check
