    Being raped, sexually abused or molested effects a woman for the rest of her life. It is not something we just get over no matter how many years has passed since it happened. I agree with Claudia and Syleena, we should only forgive the perpetrators for ourselves and not for them. We never ever get over being raped or sexually abused we learn to deal with what has happened, we go through years of therapy and we eventually heal. I love these ladies!!.

      Reality: Some don't. Even with therapy and trying to heal and "forgive." Some have tragic ends. Or life long struggles and deal with substance abuse that is not because they are weak or not "highly favored." Casualties of trauma. No eventually in sight for some.

    This conversation was needed. Many people are dealing with things and won’t open up about them and that’s how the perpetrators are getting away with it. But the one thing you didn’t mention is how too women and men help the perpetrators in their deeds. Knowing they’ve done wrong but are more willing to help cover or cultivate the crime than they are to help you heal.

    What Claudia is saying is that we understand the plight of black men and to that end the black woman but how long do we have to hold black men up while they tear down the women. In order for the healing to start is to acknowledge the act regardless of status and/or prominence and hold them accountable. Because you are holding someone accountable doesn’t mean you are destroying them, the hope is to get some accountability in order to heal. When some of these people commit acts of abuse or some other form of trauma there is this thing that as black people we can’t speak on it. It’s not the right time or I know that person and they didn’t mean it that way. Using that language further exacerbates the notion that it’s ok. Now is the time to put it all out. We can’t move forward with black lives matter towards white people and not say it to our own.

      I have much more to say on this subject. When we allow years of oppression to continue and yes black people can oppress other black and brown folks. When we do that and get fed up with the act of oppression, the comment then comes well why you tearing down the black man. For years we have idly sat bad and knowingly contributed to Folx narrative. R. Kelly and Bill Cosby are a perfect example of that.

      I think as black ppl we have a bad habit of having a out of sight out of mind attitude when we feel as if someone has redeemed themselves. Ppl need to be accountable for their actions -age, mental state of mind, drugs, past abuse is not a excuse to hurt someone else. We have got to stop celebrating ppl who have done wrong across the board- idc if it’s not the right time to bring it up- when is it ever. I’m puzzled how Jamie fox can support mike Tyson knowing that he knows someone directly effected by his actions. I’m sure Claudia you’ve had a convo with him about it back then or now. Stop supporting rape culture - silence and ignoring it is just as bad as denying it

    Incredible segment. Gave me chills. And Claudia has a sexual assualt survivor myself I agree with you. Trauma and violation have no expiration date. My Mother and I recently talked about police brutaility and how they not only attack and kill the black men they also dont protect the black woman. I reported one of my assaults. Two white officers and one female one male. Both tried to downplay what happened and the male officer tried to talk me out of it completely. I was devastated. The Doctor and nurse present were also devastated and had let me know privately that they supported me and told me their experiences. The Doctor said "Dont worry about what they are saying. If you want to press charges do it. Dont let him talk you out of it. You know what happened to you and its not Your fault." The officers words were "Do you really wanna ruin a guys life for being a jerk. Then why was he in your home and you barely knew him. You made him leave after so you did the right thing." Yall it wasnt a "Guy being just a jerk" it was RAPE. By the end of the conversation I felt so discouraged and alone. The officers who were supposed to help and protect showed me that even when I tried to stand up for myself I didnt have the law or support on my side. I didnt press charges. I live with that everyday. And not until writing this comment I just realized how deeply Im still affected by the disregard of those officers. No one protects us. Black women are praised for their strength and broken down because how many times have we had to loom in the mirror tear stricken screaming to ourselves to just keep going when we feel broken and left in the cold with only ourselves to protect ourselves. Then they wonder why we mad. MUTHAFUCKA IM A BLACK WOMAN. I BEEN THROUGH SOME SHIT AND GOT ALOT TO BE MAD ABOUT. Heres a question though have you ever felt protected by a black man before?

    Damnnn this is so deep, until Mike apologises there is no forgiveness and he admitted it if he admitted it he did it then we gone need a public apology. If you a Judas you a Judas Black, white, puter rican or Asian

    • @dsongbird
      @dsongbird 4 года назад

      @@Sandra-rt3ez that doesn't answer the question. Mike Tyson that he didn't rape the woman and had said that he spend time in prison for a crime that he didn't commit....if he's being truthful, what does he have to apologize for. Alot of bad choices were made that night, why do women just assign him guilt when noone was there and knows the real truth

    • @dsongbird
      @dsongbird 4 года назад

      Mike Tyson never admitted to raping that woman. He said in anger that he should have done it because he went to prison for it, but he's been very consistent and adamant that he didn't do it

    It's the lack of remorse and disrespect. Everyone doesn't value celebrity and money. Most people follow celebrity and money. I get it...how do you get over it if there is no care and there has been no repentance and acknowledgement of the truth.

    Thank you Claudia for sharing your truth and being a wonderful friend. This show is so important and I wish people in our community would understand that we can talk about more than one problem and stop the celebrity can-do-no-wrong worship. I agree with Syleena why can't black women share our stories without the uncalled for labeling?

    Magnificent Ladies! I just had the exact same conversation with my fiance. If I'm expressing myself to you(him), why is this that I'm perceived as being angry? I'm a very happy woman, however, if I'm sad, upset, or even angry, angry isn't the only emotion that I'm feeling.. Sigh! Fortunately, I was able to get through to him..He saw the pain on my face and and heard it in my voice. He broke and cried for me and with me. He understood...he got it! So ladies we have to be able to have the uncomfortable conversations within our homes, amongst our peers, family and hopefully with strangers. Love your beautiful platform. Love all of you and what you stand for...empowerment, education and love for the community..

    I do believe that Tami came back and said that she felt like that was not Claudia’s story to tell but someone elses. And now that it’s coming up again it could be bringing up old memories that maybe this young lady was not ready to talk about. I don’t think that Tami was saying it didn’t happen and that we shouldn’t talk about it but the timing of it all and that it wasn’t your story to tell. And to bring it to this platform instead of leaving it to IG has not made this even bigger. I hope the young lady is not embarrassed by all this and that it doesn’t take her back to that time mentally which could be detrimental to her healing. This is my opinion.

Not everything is the “white mans fault”; the black community need to step up and support each other, especially the most vulnerable among us which are black women and children!

    We have to stop making excuses for sexual predators and abusers -- no matter who they are, or what color they might be. Nobody (and I mean nobody) has the right to violate your body, or discount your "NO"! Too many women are molested by their fathers, stepfathers, uncles, brothers, neighbors, guardians, counselors, religious leaders, figures-of-authority, and ostensible protectors and mentors... Rape is not a situation of let bygones be bygones; not a time for kumbaya. NO MEANS NO! Claudia, Sis, I co-sign....

Babygirl as a black man I pray for you. I pray your heart is healing forgiveness is a journey BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN FORGET. BUT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIND FORGIVENESS SO YOU CAN NOT BE HELD IN THAT DARK PLACE.

    It is so hard for people to understand if you have not experience rape or abuse. I am 47 and it affects every part of my life. The details don’t matter but the pain that is inside can not be fully repaired. If people fight in a war in which they were trained for but come back wounded in spirit & you can empathize. Why can’t people empathize for people who are not trained to deal with a violation of the most delicate personal part of life. As Claudia said it effects every part of life. Even if you can heal there are triggers that make you feel like you are there all over again.
