Tekken 3's soundtrack is so good. Arcade and Home Console soundtracks were just great. If I had to pick Id say this has the best music in a fighting game. The Arcade tracks had the different round transitions that unfortunately didnt work like 3rd Strike due to technical limitations but sounds amazing and the Home Console versions were amazing remixes to the original. Each of the track had a feel that fit the characters too. Tracks like Gun Jack gave us a feel that he was a reconstructed from Tekken 2, Bryan Fury gave us a feel of a walking zombie running in the shadows of the streets, Lei's theme sounds straight out of a Jackie Chan film. This games score is just immaculate Another thing that games like Tekken 3 and Tag that isnt here is just the cinematography. ESPECIALLY WITH GRABS. The camera placement and movement when you do grabs in this game be straight out a MOVIE, I loved the different angles and movement the camera. Just amazing that these games were. I love Tekken 3, I find Tag 1 the best fighting game ever. This was my childhood
Tekken 3 was so ahead of its time.. The character selection design and soundtrack just always gets me... Brst soundtracks ever and the fact that almost all chararacters have their own music and stage
I loved the first two Tekken games, and knew the series was something special, especially for Playstation. When 3 came out, I was so happy that it blew up the way it did and Tekken became a popular game. And I still want Tekken Ball.
I love that feeling when you know something has potential and capitalizes on it, reaffirming that all your beliefs were true. And yeah dude I want tekken ball back too lol
The PS1 version is actually downsized The arcade version runs at a rather high resolution, its a bit zoomed out as a result The backgrounds are in full 3D and the characters are a bit higher poly You can find that version ported to Tekken 5 on the PS2
@ACTS Man Yeah, the graphical downgrade isn't even bad The only thing that people can easily pick up on were the missing backgrounds, the replacement pre rendered ones are done well enough that it wouldn't bother me, espeically not on a CRT
My older brother used to host tekken 3 tournaments with his friends at our garage and I'd just watch everyone there compete and have so much fun doing it. I've played Tekken 1 and 2 with my brother before, but Tekken 3 was the culmination of me being a serious fighting gamer. I still have a soft spot for Tekken 3 and I know a lot of gamers that think the same as well. Hell, ill be damned if there's a Tekken 3 HD version comes out for some special Namco/Tekken Anniversary type release
Nostalgia hit me hard as soon the first fight started. Hearing nina's theme playing while just looking at her stage in the background...man, those were some great times. Almost makes me tear up thinking about the golden moments i had when i first brought tekken 3 on ps1. Me, my brothers and best friend just having a blast battling it out on a friday afternoon- great times. 😊😊😊
YES NOW WE'RE TALKING!! But to be honest i'm more nostalgic for Tekken 4, i spent many hours playing Tekken 4 with my father growing up. fond memories there, good times :)
My childhood. I remember my first instance was seeing the arcade machine at a Cici's Pizza, spent $3 or $4 on it for the next hour or so. That was a lot of money for a kid.
Tekken 3 is the greatest your right, in fact I literally still have not only my old ps1 and original copy at my dad's, but also have the first rom of it I got back in 2008 when I was missing it and now I find myself playing it from time to time I could not even guess the monumental amount of hours I've put in over the decades but I can tell you I only play on the hardest and have mastered my favorites to the point that I forget there moves are not in Tekken 7 xD
This is indeed one of my most fighting game of all time, and it gave me so much fond memories as a kid. My most favourite is Tekken Force Mode. Even the opening of this game is awesome, with it’s amazing character models and even the graphics looks amazing in a PS1 game no less. This really changed the entire Tekken series as a whole.
I remember playing tekken 3 at the local laundry mat. The place only had 4 cabinets and every single kid was playing tekken. I'm never going to forget the experience of everyone getting hype and the close matches. Pure Childhood bliss 😊
Tekken 2 got me into fighting games, what a follow up this was. It looked incredible when I saw it in the local bowling arcade and then the fact you had a near perfect port at home, wow.. Also Jin is the best main character upgrade ever. Them pants though 🔥
This and Street Fighter EX2 Plus are the 3D games that got me hooked Honestly my favourite Jin is Tekken 6, unless we talking any game then Street Fighter X Tekken Jin.. he was so fun in that
This game was a movement. The music, the graphics, the extra modes on the PS1, unlocking all the characters. I've spent so much time playing this game. The arcade scene was wild. Watching and learning how to do King's multi slam combos, watching people do reversals and side throws meant something.
Can we appreciate how BADASS the "Arranged" soundtrack of T3 is / was? I absolutely love the music in this game so so so so so so so so SO much, Original or Arranged. Such an amazing, addictive, and highly playable game.
Only issue i have with the arranged soundtrack is that some songs take a while to get to the good bits. Matches usually end before the music kicks in. Arcade soundtrack has it go right into the action. Still tekken 3 is a godlike ost.
This and Soul Blade, really cemented my love for fighting games (which started with MK1). I love Ogre so much, was so happy to see them both back in TTT2
I remember pre-ordering Tekken 3 from EB Games back in Colorado Springs. Was at Citadel Mall. It came with a Jin t-shirt. The black guy in the front knew exactly which game I was picking up on that US release day on April 29, 1998.
A lot of everyone's first Tekken game was Tekken 3. Including myself. It's funny, because for me instead of playing all the games in order, I went from Tekken 3 to 1 over the course of like 2 years lol.
Believe it or not Tekken 3 was the second Tekken game I've played. The first one was 4. I actually found this game in a closet the living room of my old apartment put it in my PS2 and I love it. I actually tried to do jin spinning kick one time🤣
I couldn’t stand 4 I was so hyped for it to come out. My gf had got it for my birthday and once I started playing I was like wtf kazuya and Jin changes I couldn’t stand. I did like some Steve fox tho
Such a great game! I first played it, like, 16 years ago, when I was 11 (I played the Mortal Kombat games on SEGA Genesis before, and my knowledge of fighting games was incredibly limited), and I was really impressed by the graphics, the weirdness of some characters, and the fights themselves. I bought it half a year ago for my PS1... and the game still feels great! It even looks surprisingly good on my big TV. Quite a compliment for a PS1 game.
I adored Tekken 3. I'll always have the memory of going to a kind of boring party until we found out that the host of the party had an old PS1 and Tekken 3. Spent hours versing everyone at the party and no one could legit beat me. Even switched to other characters every fight and still just kept winning. Ended up leaving undefeated. From boring party to one of the memories I look back on fondly. Based on nostalgia alone, the best Fighting game ever imo. Alongside Soul Calibur 2 and Super Smash Brothers Melee.
One of the best Tekken's in history, which will never see the light of day again on newer consoles just because of one annoying farting dinosaur with boxing gloves...
I loved how Tekken 3 introduced the side throws.....when you move 90 degrees round your opponent and did a throw that was always sooo sick! Hworangs foot to the face was always awesome.
I remember getting this for my 13th bday and watching that intro cut scene for the first time. Goosebumps every time. Easily one of the best cutscene intros ever. The music still slaps.
What I love about tekken 3 is that the moves are like half to a full second slower than tekken 6, ttt2 and 7. Its gives you more time to dodge , counter or parrt the enemy's attack.. Air combo in the new games is njce but nothing defeata the feeling of being able to dodge, counter or parry yiur enemyyy. Thats why tekken 3 is the best. Btw the soundtrack is insany good.
The first fighting game I was actually good at when compared to everybody I played. I was an expert compared to all of my friends. But what stands out is the music in this game. In the first match Jin vs. Nina the music is VERY classic Namco. Lol The music sounds exactly like Ridge Racer's music.
Ahh the music and sfx are so nostalgic, particularly that Nina's stage music really takes me back. Also damn cool that Ogre transforms between rounds when ye knock em out the first time with a mini cutscene instead of doing a hard cut with no context.
I love playing 3 the first time in the arcades and one of my friends having this game on PS1 since it is the first Tekken game I played. I really hope Bandai namco does a Tekken collection soon!
Tekken 3(Arcade) and Tekken Tag 1(Arcade)were my first 2 competitive fighting game experiences and never looked back after that .... so many quarters well spent
Tekken 3 was the lightbulb moment for me when it came to fighting games. My older cousin had it. He asked me if I wanted to try it. I picked Julia, and I’ve been playing her in every Tekken game ever since. For better or worse. Shoutouts to Michelle too I love em both.
This game.... Jesus Christ this game. What can be said that hasn't been said already. This game is amazing. This was my 2nd fighting game ever, and holy Jesus this game made me love fighting games. I still say it to this day THE best Tekken.
Played a lot of fighters growing up but Tekken 3 was THE fighter for me and my friends. Countless hours were spent huddled around the TV playing this game. Nothing beats having all of your friends around, passing the sticks and playing tournaments to see who is the best. I miss this era of gaming.
This game! The hours, HOURS I tell you, that me, my best friend and his brother all sunk on this. First on the demo that came with my PS1 (you could only play Eddie and Xiaoyu in One Player, with Paul and Lei in Two Player), and then with the full game. We weren't any good at it, but we had FUN. Now the good times are gone. I'm old and sad and the tears in my eyes are not of from remembrance but full of regrets.
I’ve been watching every upload for the last 4 years I don’t regret but I’m moving on from it being apart from my daily routine because I’m avoiding YT as much as I can as my productivity has plummeted. I wish you the best but I think if I want to watch content on a certain game and one of your videos shows up I will watch it because your content is consistently worth it. I love Max and I adore the Doods. Thanks for everything.Have a good one see you👋🏻
I'm still sad this was never released on PSN. Beause I really miss this game. And I was there when it came out on PS1 in the distant year of 1998. I lost so many days on Practice and Versus with a buddy of mine so we could both hone our skills. I'm guessing the Gon character is the reason the PS1 version of this game will never be re-released. Because of licensing issues.
No one can understand how crazy impactful this game was for not just fighting games but the entire gaming industry. Tekken 3 changed everything. It was incredibly popular, played at arcades and homes everywhere and all completely offline. Just hanging at your friends house playing Tekken all day long, figuring out combos and duking it out to determine the ultimate champion of the Iron Fist.
T2 was my first Tekken (played it on arcade), but yeah T3 was big and it has massive impact not just for Playstation brand and Tekken popularity but also for 3D fighting games to finally stand out from the shadow of 2D fighting games. All of my friends played T3 and every arcade that i visited has everyone surrounded T3 arcade cabinets especially the one with giant monitor. Man, what a great times ☺️
Tekken Tag 1, 4, both Soul Calibur 2 and 3 and VF4 were my first fighting games. my family was really into fighting games, but mostly the 3d fighters then really clicked with me. i was born after this game so i couldn't feel the nostalgia besides T5's arcade legacy mode combing thru each game back to back with Paul. the introduction of sidesteps, ground teching and general movement changes felt like a gamechanger for the entire subgenre. feeling that stiff while stuck with f/b and a jump no one used in 1 and 2 was the worst. by the time i got to 3 i felt it seriously needed it. actually being able to whiff punish a linear mid up close with a sidestep without relying on a BDC that didn't exactly exist before 3 must have felt mindblowing to do back then.
My only memories of Tekken 3 was playing the game back in the beginning of the 2000's, at my neighbor's place. It was a sudden thing, since I saw the dad play this game one day, when I went over to hang out for a bit. But after the dad allowed me to play the game, I fell in love with it and from there on is where I started to appreciate fighting games!
I can't believe how good this game looks *26 years later* No 3D game had any business looking this good or this smooth back then. This was 2 years before Metal Gear Solid FFS.
Seeing all the comments on this video and the other videos from this series make me wish I was alive when these games came out. It sounds like you guys all had so much fun and it’s so cool
I'm in high school right now, and Tekken 3 is one of my favorite games to play if I'm bored in class. the arcade mode is always fun to play through again!
I still remember going over to my buddy's house after school to play this game when we were in the 5th grade. We would smack talk the whole day, get home and grab a cold Pepsi from the fridge, then load up Tekken 3.
This was the first game I had for my Playstation. It made me a lifetime fan of Tekken. My sister and I only played the characters we throught looked cool especially Law, Nina, and Xiaoyu. I would love Tekken games to get their own collection like Street Fighter and Samurai Shodown. If nothing else they should at least bring Tekken Tag 2 to switch since it was on the Wii U.
Just last week in the process of remodeling my cousin’s room, the copy of Tekken 3 in our PlayStation accidentally broke. It felt like a dog died, especially since it’s been in perfect condition for the past 22 years, longer than he or I have been alive. It’s a phenomenal game that encapsulates years of family and childhood memories. Not only for its nostalgic value, but it’s crisp and flawless gameplay, even to this day. God bless this game, and thank you max for playing this classic :)
The counters WERE AMAZING. They looks so great, and there a variety. I remember using Paul and countering Nina doing her forward summersault kick, and the counter animation was Paul catching her and Power bombing her. Not a normal Paul move, but it was awesome enough to remember all the years later

This games score is just immaculate
Another thing that games like Tekken 3 and Tag that isnt here is just the cinematography.
TEKKEN 3 LET'S GOOO
This game was everywhere as a kid; my house, friends houses, arcades, bowling alleys...
I miss those times!
@KingOfTek mine too, buddy. Good times!
The PS1 version is actually downsized
The arcade version runs at a rather high resolution, its a bit zoomed out as a result
The backgrounds are in full 3D and the characters are a bit higher poly
You can find that version ported to Tekken 5 on the PS2
While it's a graphical downgrade, it sure has heck compensated with the extra content.
@ACTS Man Yeah, the graphical downgrade isn't even bad
The only thing that people can easily pick up on were the missing backgrounds, the replacement pre rendered ones are done well enough that it wouldn't bother me, espeically not on a CRT
Emulation is also a choice with latest version of MAME (sadly FBNeo doesn't support 3D games yet)
Wait the Tekken 3 I have has different intro music
The psx version is a great port. At that time no one believed that Tekken 3 could be done on psx, since the arcade board was vastly superior hardware.
Tekken 3 still oozes style and the soundtrack is god tier. I took tag 1 a lot more seriously but T3 ignited that flame.
this game, alongside street fighter alpha, was one of the first video games i’d ever played. i spent so many hours on them. so much nostalgia 🥰
This is one of does games that can’t be recreated or remade it just lives in this timeline of greatness as is.
This game started my love for fighting games. The OST and sound effects bring some inner peace to my soul.
This and Street Fighter EX2 Plus are the 3D games that got me hooked
Honestly my favourite Jin is Tekken 6, unless we talking any game then Street Fighter X Tekken Jin.. he was so fun in that
This game was a movement. The music, the graphics, the extra modes on the PS1, unlocking all the characters. I've spent so much time playing this game.
The arcade scene was wild. Watching and learning how to do King's multi slam combos, watching people do reversals and side throws meant something.
I remember spending a lot of time picking Eddie and pressing -> + spam Circle & X
Tekken 3 was what made me get into the fighting game scene and made me go to tournaments to play. It is truly a masterpiece in fighting games.
Going from 3 backwards just feels WEIRD
Tekken Tag is the new Tekken 2
Believe it or not Tekken 3 was the second Tekken game I've played. The first one was 4. I actually found this game in a closet the living room of my old apartment put it in my PS2 and I love it. I actually tried to do jin spinning kick one time🤣
I couldn’t stand 4 I was so hyped for it to come out. My gf had got it for my birthday and once I started playing I was like wtf kazuya and Jin changes I couldn’t stand. I did like some Steve fox tho
It just occurred to me how, if this game got a remaster/remake, Jin's ending would be absolutely terrifying.
The side scrolling single player "beat em up" mode was really cool when when I first played it. This and tekken tag were everywhere.
ah so now it's listed, good
Such a great game!
Why? Is there any problem with gon?
There’a always the arcade version which is only really missing Anna with her own moveset, bosconovitch, and gon
@AT Productions Yep, that's pretty much why.
@@michaelbullen3104 True, but when it comes down to the soundtrack of this game I prefer the arranged ones over the arcade versions.
@@MergedWarriors good point those ps1 tracks slap
I loved how Tekken 3 introduced the side throws.....when you move 90 degrees round your opponent and did a throw that was always sooo sick! Hworangs foot to the face was always awesome.
I remember getting this for my 13th bday and watching that intro cut scene for the first time. Goosebumps every time. Easily one of the best cutscene intros ever. The music still slaps.
This was one of the first fighting game were I actually put in the time to ”get good” in. Loved it to bits.
I've never forgotten the way Jin just fucking choke slams Heihachi through the wall at the end
Riiiidge Racer!!!
Ahh the music and sfx are so nostalgic, particularly that Nina's stage music really takes me back. Also damn cool that Ogre transforms between rounds when ye knock em out the first time with a mini cutscene instead of doing a hard cut with no context.
Still one of my favourite FG. God, I had so much fun playing this with my mates back when it came out
I love playing 3 the first time in the arcades and one of my friends having this game on PS1 since it is the first Tekken game I played. I really hope Bandai namco does a Tekken collection soon!
Tekken 3(Arcade) and Tekken Tag 1(Arcade)were my first 2 competitive fighting game experiences and never looked back after that .... so many quarters well spent
it's my favorite fighting game of all time
Tekken 3 was the lightbulb moment for me when it came to fighting games.
Tekken Force Mode needs a comeback. It was a great way to get costume Items or go combo crazy after online matches.
Thanks for everything.Have a good one see you👋🏻
The memories... this game had a magical bad-ass aura when I was a kid
i still remember spending evenings learning King's grab combos, it feels so good when you do one perfectly
This is one of the main game that got me started into fighting games next to virtua fighter
My first Tekken game when I was in, like, elementary school.
💜⚡
Love to see old fighting-games like Tekken 3 again. It`s been a while. Lot of memories. Thank you Max.
I can't believe how good this game looks *26 years later*
No 3D game had any business looking this good or this smooth back then. This was 2 years before Metal Gear Solid FFS.
Ridge racer type 4 is another gane that is just a timeless classic with graphics that are still top tier but sadly forgotten .
@@Snyperwolf91 Looked great for its time, but I think it got overshadowed in a big way by Gran Turismo and GT2 coming out either side of it!
It was the best, but it's been surpassed. Nostalgia can only do it so much. Still has the best Tekken OST though.
I never noticed the "SOUL EDGE" graffitti in Paul's stage before :V I just saw it while watching this, wow
Seeing all the comments on this video and the other videos from this series make me wish I was alive when these games came out. It sounds like you guys all had so much fun and it’s so cool
Dood I remember playing the demo to this! Hwoarang was my guy!!! And Jesus that startup theme just gave me all the nostalgia
I loved going to this arcade in Kansas and playing tekken 3 was so much fun I would be at that arcade for hours just to play tekken 3.
Am I the only one who was addicted to Tekken Force mode?
Tekken 3. Soundtrack, Visuals, Story, Roster. As well as a lot franchise favorites making their mark here. We need more quality like THIS. 👍🏾💯
