Better than the other video I saw where they suggest taking off the bumper, or at least having it hang. Might have been a slightly different model, not sure. Thanks for this. Need to do mine this weekend.
Thanks for this! Was so easy once I watched your video. Only cost me £15 for a pair on eBay and they work perfectly. Hardest part was putting back the clips in place.
I was shocked then the Agents told me it would cost R6000 to replace. Done this myself with thanks to those videos. Those clips were challenging. Thanks alot , appreciate the advise
Thank you Mark! Trying to get those clips locked was a finger torture. In doing so at times I tried with the old lamp to check if there was any difference with the new one. When I finally got the clips locked and the connector in place I tried to switch the light on and it didn't work... I then realized I had placed the old lamp again! So back to work. Oh my, those clips! You have to push them very hard to get them locked.
Thanks a million for thisVideo. You make the task look so easy.
You are welcome!
great video! thank you
Thank you for this. Helped me today
Thank you man!
For one side took me hour and a half, for second side 15min 😅
Very useful thanks! The tricky bit is reattaching the two spring clips whilst holding the bulb in place. I managed it by holding the bulb in place through the bonnet access whilst closing the clips through the wheel arch. Best with 2 people. Reattaching the cable isn’t easy either.
And the globe is difficult to get back in.. its a fiddly job. Thanks for the comment
Did you reattach the clips at the same time or did one at a time? I’m having trouble getting the bottom clip to move at all when the top one finally clips in.
I feel your pain mate. Worst job I've ever done. 3 hours it took me. So tight.
thank you very much for the video! will perform tommorow!
Best of luck!
This was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Could not get the pins to lock into place while holding the bulb. I took wheel and arch liner out and went that way. It's bloody tight and took me 3 hours. Hope the other side doesn't go 🫣
Lol bro I just spent 3.5 hours using this method and for the life of me, I couldn't get the clips to lock either. I eventually gave up. I'm considering removing the bumper
@@kevinkleyn6580 i think I will do the same if the other side fails mate. Never want to experience that ever again 😆😁
Brother, did you make it? I've been messing with this bulb for over 4 hours and I can't get it to work. How do I get this sinful bulb to fix itself?
@@sado4ki try and push in and down together. I used a long screwdriver. I nearly gave up. Just keep at it and it will lock.
@@kevinkleyn6580 you think it’s easier removing the whole headlight?
Guy, this is awesome. You saved me hours! 1000Thanks!!
I just finished both sides on my Audi a3 tfsi 1.4 2014. I took off the entire plastic thing to get better acess, but the spring system (exactly like the one in this vid) was pretty brutal to do in that cramped space, had to take out the bulb and really get to know the pin system before doing it in the blind. WOrst part was getting the connector back on honestly. FIrst side took over an hour, second side maybe 20.
Its a terrible job also took me like 40 mins
Thank you! I thought I was gonna need to remove the whole bumper.
Any videos of replacement of daytime running light
Hi thanks for sharing, question to change the driver side is it the same procedure?
Does this work for an 15 A3?
I wish. My 2015 A3 fender liner has grommets 😢. Have no choice but to go in through the top
good day, may i check if the front daylight running light for A3 2016 is replaceable? i seem not to find an example of the bulb i need to replace
Its a led in the headlamp... dont think u can change it without opening the light
The clip will not tighten back up...... Any help?
Brilliant simple how too 👌
Great Vid, everyone is taking off bumpers & grills etc lol
Have to admit this job was a nightmare for me. Yea it’s faffy taking the wheel and liner off, getting the old bulb out was easy enough but I then spent the next 2.5 hours trying to get the clips to lock on the new bulb. Not sure if my new bulb has a bigger diameter grove than the OEM bulb but the one I took off was the same and not OEM. In the end it seemed the groove for the bulb to clip into had worn and by the time I had finished even more so. I couldn’t get the clip to lock in without the bulb in place but I was able to zip tie the clip closed. Not the most elegant but worked a treat.
Have you gone from Xenon to LED?
Better than replacing my mk7 gti bulbs as I went thru the same process just the vw has dumb bolts everywhere
1 hours been trying to put in not yet
Like it thanks, and the left side, is the same way? Thanks.
Yes, it is
Hi there i had an issue with my D5S globe not working i replaced it with a new one doing the same method by removing the wheel etc but once it was in it started to just blink and not stay solid beam. what could this issue be?
Possible control module
Hi mark quick question my headlight has suddenly turned orange does that mean my ballast is going away or do I just need to change the globe
Same
thanks mark!
Hi. How do you know if it's the light or ballast..mine just turned blue, orange and eventually died,..it was later this other guy tells me it's ballast but he didn't literally check.
Usually its the globe but we have had some controller failures. Start with a globe first
@@markredline thank you, I will try changing globe first.
it can be done in the other side the same? i mean without tearing apart the whole bumper? XD
Yes same procedure
easier on the older 8p models no silly clip it just twists then out!
Next take out the grill to replace the cv joints, lol. Why do engineers do this stupid design?
My headlight doesn’t have those clips it has a green zip tie looking thing? Help
you just twist the bulb round an out it comes fit the green collar to new bulb retwist it in an your done!!
Can this be done without removing the wheel
Why not remove the wheel, it takes 5 minutes
So how to do you click it back in ? Skipped that part ! You only showed when it was already clipped in
The clips are spring pressure in a U shape holding design. You push them down/up and out to release and down/up in to secure. You'll know when you do it
Anyone know the Kelvin on original bulbs? Have D3S phillips xenecostart 3K10 as original bulbs but it doesnt state Kelvin rating. Do i need to replace in pairs?
In the video it says 6000K
Always replace in pairs.
4300k
Thank you
My Gawd, why did they design it like this😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭
Terrible i know. The golf 7 you have to remove bumper
Better like this Sir, they might steal our headlights if it was easy
Total PITA! Man..
I've been messing with this bulb for over 4 hours and I can't get it to work. How do I get this sinful bulb to fix itself?
It should work if its plugged in. If a new one dont work it can be the control unit
A bird struck my drivers side headlight, broke the lens. Bought the lens and no one knows how to replace it 😂 I taped it during rain but it got wet and is no longer working. 😅 help me
Bulb or control unit. If whole light dont work send to autoelec or check fuses first
What bulb is it?
👍👍🔥
I have to remove the wheel to replace the light bulb? Da fuck it this shit? Whats next? paying a subscription to keep your lights on?
Dont have to take off wheel it just makes it easier. On a golf 7 you have to remove headlight
Take off the wheel to change a lightbulb?? You’re mad!
Agreed Lionel, the whole car is designed to make money for a workshop. Utter rubbish at today's Labour rates.
Fuck it 😂just a bulb replacement??
Hello there mate! Mine is not that bright… you think it just passed many hours so its not that bright as the right one? Waiting for a reply thanks!
