replacing a XENON bulb in an audi a3 type 8v without taking the bumper off 1 You remove the front wheels 2 Then you take out the plastick inner mudguards And then you will see that you can reach it. Good luck
Hi Tim, This was an awesome video!!! You helped me save at least $400.00. I had a friend help me though which made it easier getting through the wheel area because that plastic is pretty sturdy. I will say I may not be buying another on of these cars because i have never had to go through this much just to change a headlight bulb!!! This was the worse experience i have ever had but i will say you made it way better!!! Thanks Again mate!

Small tip: next time you take out the headlight, don't screw the bottom screw. Leave it out, won't do damage nor movement for your headlight. That way the next next time you need to work on the headlight you won't have to remove the bumper. I do it like this
Thanks for the video, It helped us out tremendously while doing this today 🙂 I can’t believe how badly designed the whole thing is though!! What an unbelievable amount of hassle just to change a bulb!! 🙈 The Audi designers should hang their heads in shame!! 🤦🏻♂️

Thanks a million for this video. I did my driver's side headlight before you posted this and could not figure out how the bulb clips worked for the life of me. I knew I didn't get it quite right when I put it back together. Sure enough, it fell out of its slot, but luckily didn't break. I found your video and re-did it, this time correctly. Don't think I would ever have figured it out without your help!

One question - what is the wire you are showing at 4:15 for? I also have it attached to my headlight but it is loose and not plugged into anything? Appreciate your effort and best regards.

Hello, nice video! I have to change my passenger headlight on my 2014 A3 8V, I was wondering if I have to change both bulb headlights or I can only replace the dead one?

Tim Williams hey mate desperately need your help/advice. I have a Audi A3 the same headlights as yours 2013. The DRL light doesn’t turn on on the right side (everything else works, but also has a error saying DAYTIME LIGHT) on the dash. How do I replace this? And fix this? You mentioned a whole unit needs replacing? Does that mean I have to buy a brand new headlamp? As they’re Atleast £500 off eurocarparts. Is there anyway to replace the bulb or what? Cheers
There is an simpler way to do this. Take of the rubber cap behind the lightbulb you want to replace. Follow the wires till you reach the bulb. For a3 p8 there will be 3 small flaps that can be pushed away from the center of the bulb, to get it loosened. For a3 v8 you just twist the unit counter clockwise around 60 degrees to loosen it. After that, just pool the unit out, change the bulb and insert it again.
@@Mrtimcleghorn No, not for these HID projectors. These are much deeper assemblies. No rubber caps. No flaps. Audi sold these with conventional halogen bulbs in reflectors too and those are way shorter.
Awesome video bro! Any idea how to replace the daytime running light bulb strip? I have no idea where the bulb is located within the headlight housing! Any help is appreciated. CHEERS!
Hi hernan, I’m not too sure sure tbh, it will most likely be very similar, maybe a different size screw, if you have small hands then I’d say go through the wheel arch. Take the wheel off, entire arch lining around wheel and then go through the to change it. Check your user manuals as there may be an easier way. Please like and subscribe! Headlight will not turn on after replacing the HID lamp. Do you know what else could be wrong? Should I get the ballast replaced and how much a delaer would charge for something like that? I have a 2015 A3 sedan.

Got a bit of a nightmare on my A3 mate. I did both D3S bulbs last week on my 63 plate 8v S-line with the same xenons, and you have plenty of room to do it if you remove the inner arch liner. you don't even have to remove the whole liner, just the front half of it. Going to do the same in mine - what do you mean by "inner arch liner" tho (apologies, English is not my first language!)? The mud-guard around the wheel?
Do I need to take the alloy off to do this? I am about to tackle it and would rather do this quicker method. Saying that the video is brillinat if I have to go that route.
Many thanks both of you - I’ve just done mine. Tried the video method first and failed (didn’t take enough screws out so I couldn’t free the front bumper. Then tried the wheel arch method - you need to remove the wheel and ideally remove the entire plastic wheel arch liner -after which you can get at the back of the headlight and remove the bulb. However, there’s still not a lot of room and I couldn’t reclip the new bulb in place - so went back to the video method, which is now a whole lot easier because you can see all the screws holding the bumper on. Nextime will be a lot easier, but if it’s your first go, it might be best to use a combination of the two methods. Either way though it’s quite tricky and definitely not a 5 minute job. Thanks for guides though guys, impossible without!
Thanks for an awesome video, man. It was a real pain in the @$$ getting that bulb replaced but couldn’t have done it without your help. Question, i replaced the bulb a couple of month ago and everything was fine but now the Halo is out. Is that just a setting or does it require a separate bulb?
