    • @googleuser8211
      @googleuser8211 29 дней назад

      After 9/11, there was a mass exodus of people fro NYC to surrounding areas - the Pocono Mts (Pennsylvania) had such an influx that they had to raise taxes and build multi-million dollar schools for the new hood rats living in the country. Fast forward from 2002 to a few years ago (right before COVID) and they all decided to go back to the city after a decade or so. That left the locals with all these new schools and infrastructure to pay for (massive new taxes) and the people who caused it were now leaving! THEN, COVID strikes and they move back to the more rural or suburban areas... each time diminishing greatly the quality of life in the town they move to... like locusts or fire ants.

    Exactly my business has a large package drop off box I built, I leave the top door open with a keyed lock open sitting on top with a note to leave packages in the box and use the open lock to lock it. Haven’t had any packages stolen, ever in 15 years of business. This is an easily preventable situation, people are mostly too helpless and lazy to try and figure crap out. If you get more than one package stolen at two different times, that’s on you at that point.

    I buy everything online except for food and have been doing this for as long as Amazon has existed. I live in southern Indiana. I’ve never lost a package due to theft. No one dares do things like this here. I cant really relate to this problem. It’s too incredulous to imagine that anyone is so daring to commit a crime in broad daylight. So while rural life is not everyone’s cup of tea I relish the life of peace and safety here and one still has access to everything people enjoy in a metro city. We just plan our trips when the time is right. It’s just toomuch stress on a daily basis just losing any of your package and the hassle of dealing with it. What if it’s your medication that you need to take to literally keep you alive? Blood pressure pills diabetes meds etc etc? ☹️😔😖

    I’ve had to ship things to my workplace cause it’s safer to do that. I had meds sent to my apt once, a homeless man was able to get to it by pretending to help someone with groceries, then grabbing it on the way out, thankfully my neighbor caught them.
    It’s either this or I have to place a hold at location so it doesn’t get stolen. I think it’s wild that I have to do that and still pay all this rent for an unsafe property. What’s sad to me also is this is a societal problem, an issue of moral corruption, cause we should be able to leave a package somewhere with the expectation that people will say to themselves, that’s not mines and I shouldn’t touch it cause it obviously belongs to someone.

  • @Bigboi2
    @Bigboi2 28 дней назад +1

    As a current mail carrier(USPS, Georgia) I can assure you, criminals are starting to say forget the porch and they'll straight up rob the carrier. I was robbed at gunpoint twice on my route. Didn't take anything personal from me just most of my parcels. As far as delivering to your backyard, that poses a safety hazard for us. Too many unknown unknowns. We don't know what could be going on in your backyard or what's back there. (dogs etc). So yeah we will deliver to the most convenient drop off location which is usually the front door😅

    • @Stephanie-kt9vh
      @Stephanie-kt9vh 28 дней назад +2

      That still depends on the driver. You can do that and still not all of them will notify you it's X number of stops away or delivered, or sign for. Some still will drop them at the edge of the porch to have to avoid those 5 steps and they don't care.

    Great content, great awareness and yes, I agree. You don’t approach the thief because you never know what can happen in that situation especially if you are not trained to deal with people it’s something you might want to think about another thing is a big problem going on because I hear it all the time, I live in an apartment building and there has been a lot of complaints when I get a package delivered to my door. I make sure that I’m home for that delivery. If I’m not home then I won’t have it delivered at that time. I’ll have it delivered at a time that I am home, that’s how I get my packages there. I’m there for my packages. I should feel safe. There’s cameras everywhere but these people seem to not care about cameras. They do it anyway, and they still have their face and poster posted up as a package thief right on the door, so everybody can see, they don’t even wear a mask so the whole thing is it could be your neighbor asking a friend to do it. That’s what I was thinking about because not everybody is all right so I’m happy they got the cameras and I’m happy that they work because I remember those faces, the best thing is that they actually have these boxes and lockers and if I were to order something and I know I’m not gonna be there I would have it or one of these lockboxes or somebody that I know that’s gonna be home at that time, I don’t want no excuses Yes some packages are just too big because I have a mailbox and a lockbox for packages and a person would leave me the key in my mailbox so when I open my mailbox all I gotta do is use the key to open the lock box that’s right below my mailbox.

    It might be helpful to pay for a P.O box at the post office. Then, you can have your items safely delivered there and you can retrieve them with no problem.

    FedEx and UPS always deliver packages to my back door even though I don't tell them to.

    I don't use the store pick up option. They open it then say it was an accident.

    Those thieves are actually amateurs. Because over here in my town,back in rhe day... if it was a beer truck....soon as that man brought that delivery into the store, we were looting that beer truck. That's why they changed there. Policies and have the drivers close the doors after they get their load to bring into the store.... We were kids and it was in the early 90's.... But we damn sure did it... I was surprised they aint looting the truck while the drivers up by the stairs.

    That steel box idea was on hit, better yet why not just get them to drop your package off on the moon, there are no porch pirates up there.

    I never thought of it like that it’s true we’re ordering what we want. Sometimes I order like something so small that if somebody was to take it I mean it’s like a five dollar item that I paid for or a $10 item but I haven’t lost anything so far I’m crossing my fingers, but I have never looked at it like that.

    As stores are shut down from crime.. more people are going to need delivery. And that's even easier then robbing a store blind. Just wait behind a delivery driver and you don't even have to look for the packages.

    Oddly enough, stealing random packages might be more addictive than stealing with intent due to casino like atmosphere of real life random loot boxes. It's the same mechanism they use for online games.
