Aang's actor, Gordon, said in the recent "Trailer Breakdown with Cast" video that Utkarsh, Bumi's actor, acted 100% just like Bumi in the animated show.
Honestly it's crazy how perfect most of the cast is. I say most because I know there's some controversy surrounding Sokka's actor but other than that? Aang, Katara, June, Iroh, etc. all PERFECT. I cannot wait for this show. Netflix seriously redeemed themselves when it comes to live action adaptations with One Piece and now this. Just hoping they can keep it up.
I can understand why they cast a younger actor to play Bumi. It would be verrrrryy difficult to find an old man who can still do matial arts perfectly and have the strength and stamina to move like that 😅 Also, this COULD be a flashback to younger Bumi and Aang before Aang got stuck in the ice 🤷🏼♀️
No it couldnt be a flashback to bumis younger self. Aang and bumi were friends, and they were probably the same age before aang got stuck in the iceberg. That scene was when aang and bumi sparred. Aang was trying to look for a earthbending teacher and he thought Bumi would be that teacher.
Did you expect them to cast someone who is actually old to play Bumi?? It was always going to be a make up job for such a physical character I just hope the writing supports all of this hard work because so far everything I’m seeing is looking good to great
Bumi is played by Utkarsh Ambudkar who is 40. I only know him really from Free Guy but you are right that it'll be mostly makeup and affects. I hope he can portray that craziness that is Bumi. The character that has me most concerned is Azula. I wish we would have gotten some dialogue for her. I can't wait for the show to come out!!
@mwisi2578 Honestly, the acting matters more to me. As long as he does the character justice. And you're right. They need an actor capable of doing the stunts or choreography.
Bumi also has to be the most difficult character to execute, but we’re going to have to see the most important aspects which will be the actor’s portrayal of the character’s personality. The makeup and everything could also look better in other non-action scenes where we get to see him speak and his facial expressions.
*This has no business looking THAT GOOD BRO! 🔥. Man, I hope this turns out well.* But so far, the cast and just the look of the film is perfect. Even the music got me hyped a bit. Loved it!
4:22 Fire Lord Sozen fighting (probably) Monk Gyatso. As several Fire benders can be seen down around this chamber floor, that could be the last minutes of Gyatso’s life.
12:00 I have to give the benefit of the doubt. Yes, Bumi is over 100 years old, but he’s also shredded, so I think he looks fine given his design in the animated show. If he were just an old man then yeah, they could get someone older.
Trailer, immaculate out of 10. Im glad the acting is on point, still kinda iffy on Appa, Azula, Sozin, n now Bumi's design but the rest are 10 out of 10. Bending is clean, settings looks great, im happy that they shown the Blue Spirit, and Aang's Avatar state looks dope! Plzz Netflix live up to the trailer's hype cuz Im already loving what they shown. Can't wait for Feb 22th😎👍
Teo and the Mechanist are in Omashu for consolidation and because having the air temple vs fire nation fight would be the equivalent of having two finales, in terms of money for Netflix at least
I Know People were Kinda iffy On Zuko's Scar here which I understand Cause it Looks like someone Put Face paint on the actor and Boom there ya go I was kinda hoping they add more Depth and prosthetic detail to the scar cause in the original on the left side of his face the dude's eyebrow is just Gone!!! here somehow his eyebrow is perfectly fine but his costume looks good tho!
3:21 feel like their just different designs for commander zhaos boat and only place I can think of are from Siege of the north or winter solstice part 2 4:48 idk how they got the lighting here so perfect like it’s actually stunning 10:41 two things First is im noticing at least for this shot is theirs a lot less of the ramps they use for transportations which could be just for this shot and I wouldn’t be surprised but just through I mention it. Also another thing I think sense the boomy episode was (at least to me) kinda weak for avatar their gonna try to mix it with the season 3 episode where sang has to learn that the world has made changes to things he’s loved Which I think could be super cool and could work super well for this episode and season 1 if done right and mixed right! But do agree I hope we see what happened to that air temple in some form because I think its pretty rad 11:02 just wanted to point out how much I love the way the blue spirit mask looks.
I feel quite confident that the old guy in the heavy armour is Sozen, leading the attack on the Air Nomads. Not surprised he'd want to be there to see the death of the new Avatar first hand.
I think the flashback scene is Ba Sing Se, because I think it was Iroh who was in the armor and firebending. Maybe backstory with him and his son? My heart...
I don’t know why Sam being shocked the effects look good is just hilarious to me. lol Why wouldn’t they? The effects were one of the few things that were decent in the live action movie. (Some elements looked better than others but Water looked pretty great in The Last Airbender. It was the choreography and disconnect from elemental animation that was bad) The music we already knew was gonna be traditional from the last trailer. I got excited hearing their voices fit so well and the choreography and seeing what elements (pun intended) of the story we were finally seeing he adapted (such as seeing Bumi and Jet, Hei Bai, etc)
We dont see Buumi without his shirt on until the end of the episode, and when he takes his shirt off it doesnt look real lol. So im kinda okay with this because how is an old man gonna be that ripped and have the iconic Buumi voice and laugh
i would like to think that netflix took notes from the burned fans of game of thrones, so when bryke left, their only real option to succeed is to adapt the story faithfully despite losing bryke. so i think that's why, so far, all the teasers coming out all look promising. i think this adaptation is actually going to deliver. i say this because looking back at bryke's letter to fans as to why they left the production, it seems as though they were hinting on major plot changes that netflix wanted to do at the time which they didn't want to appear on screen. because it doesn't make sense that they left if there were no issues back then regarding the adaptation of the plot points. if i remember correctly, bryke left during the pandemic, and seeing that the show is airing only now, i think netflix dropped the changes and decided to stick to the source. at least, that's what it seems to me anyway. the current show runner seems genuinely respectful of the source material, at least as far as the interviews seem.
Omg, your reaction was the absolute best I’ve seen from all the other reactions I watched! I felt your joy and excitement and the shock that the effects actually looked amazing!
Why does everyone think that one shot is the Cave of Two Lovers? That's from season 2, lol. It's more than likely at the end of the Spirit World episodes when all the people are coming out of the portal. If it is, Katara coming out of it is a new change as it was only Sokka who got kidnapped by Hei Bai.
To be honest, I thought Bumi would be completely in CG, seriously, there's no way to do his movements when he's a +100 year old guy in real life, I'm fine with his cast.
My only 2 nitpicks are that the backgrounds are clearly CGI. Pretty CGI. But they definitely don’t look like they’re in any actual place most of the time. Woulda been cool if they shot on location more often for. But I won’t complain. My other nitpick is that Appa looks too cartoony. Appa was one of the things I think was done well in the movie. This Appa has a better design. But the tangible appearance was better in the movie. Idk. But honestly, there’s bound to be things that one does better than the other. No point in comparing. Interesting both movie and this show opted to make the Avatar State blue instead of white. I guess cuz of the arrows but his eyes are blue too. lol It’s funny because the director of this show (or show runner?) never watched the movie and is avoiding it. lol
Genuinely my most petty critique is that wind is supposed to be surrounding him in a ball when he goes into the avatar state at 2:35 .. but everything was just still. Other than that, its such an amazing trailer !!!
And here I am trying to get every single follower in sonic and the black knight. Let me tell you it’s very time consuming. I wonder what it would be like if Sam did a stream of just that?
Hello Sam my name is Isaiah and I have something important to say to you. God loves you and like any father he wants to help you and like any father he wants to help you and keep you safe especially from the devil. But I am not just speaking to you about this I am also talking to your fans about this. God loves you all and especially in the times we our living in we are in need of him more than ever. But the choice is ultimately yours have a nice day Shalom Shalom.
Did people forget the creators left? Once people see the changes that Netflix made and the creators didn’t want, people are gonna dislike this show. They’re cramming 20 episodes into 8 episodes.
No, we didn't forget that the creators left. I won't be able to judge the actual show until it is out. Also, important note, the episodes are going to be an hour long each. So if you total it up, this show will have a more screen time than the animated show in comparison.
I feel like Utkarsh has King Bumi’s humor and energy but he’s a little thin to play him. I love the actor so I’ll give it pass. Besides maybe that angle just wasn’t flattering for the makeup
Omashu part i get it. The change doesnt matter as far as i see it. Remember shamalaya movie. L😂😂😂 i dont want it to be shot for shot. N boomy getting a 70 yr old. Or as u say 100 yr old person bending? Bring in the wheel chair too. 😂😂😂😂
Honestly this looks real good. I still have yet to see the Avatar the last airbender (original animated series) even tho i know a lot about it and have been spoiled about a lot of it. But from what I’ve seen and heard this is a massive upgrade from the the live action movie, even tho that’s not saying much because of how bad it is. But yeah this gave me the chills, the music the effects the cast, they look and sound incredible. Hope this will be a redemption for all you Avatar fans. 💧🪨🔥💨
I’m shocked at how well this is translating to live action like they feel like the characters so far like SOKKA IS SOKKAING!
He even suggested his own jokes for the script apparently. Most Sokka thing to Sokka.
Aang's actor, Gordon, said in the recent "Trailer Breakdown with Cast" video that Utkarsh, Bumi's actor, acted 100% just like Bumi in the animated show.
Yaaay!
That's a really good piece of news! ^///^
The joy in Sam’s face is infectious during this
Honestly it's crazy how perfect most of the cast is.
Can't even get our token whites these days tisk tisk. He fits. Yall can't complain
Yes we need your reviews and thoughts about each episodes!
Crazy how many times I've seen this trailer. Cannot wait for the show
I can understand why they cast a younger actor to play Bumi. It would be verrrrryy difficult to find an old man who can still do matial arts perfectly and have the strength and stamina to move like that 😅

The character that has me most concerned is Azula. I wish we would have gotten some dialogue for her. I can't wait for the show to come out!!
I get it. But bumi in the show is a like 70. Or something like that. Would be sad getting a 70 yr old dude doing it. It would suck lol
@mwisi2578 Honestly, the acting matters more to me. As long as he does the character justice. And you're right. They need an actor capable of doing the stunts or choreography.
Bumi is over 100 when Team Avatar meet him. Aang knew him before he foudn out he was the Avatar.@@mwisi2578
Take notes, Shyamalan. THIS is how you do Avatar.
The video starting with Sam telling me to shut up was very unexpected
I think the firebender attacking the monk was Sozin attacking Gyatso
It is Sozin and it's Monk Gyatso's death.
Bumi also has to be the most difficult character to execute, but we’re going to have to see the most important aspects which will be the actor’s portrayal of the character’s personality. The makeup and everything could also look better in other non-action scenes where we get to see him speak and his facial expressions.
Yeah agree on that one.
Let’s gooo baby I’m so hyped for this I’m also a huge fan of avatar the last airbender since the original aired this looks AMAZING 🔥
IF ONLY the creators stayed it would’ve been even better 😪
Not a single negative reaction towards this new adaption. Netflix COOKED
*This has no business looking THAT GOOD BRO! 🔥. Man, I hope this turns out well.* But so far, the cast and just the look of the film is perfect. Even the music got me hyped a bit. Loved it!
It's Firelord Sozin in the southern air temple
01:07 - this is one of the reason of why I’m subscribed to your channel, Sam. Bless you, man👏😌
4:22 Fire Lord Sozen fighting (probably) Monk Gyatso. As several Fire benders can be seen down around this chamber floor, that could be the last minutes of Gyatso’s life.
That's fire lord sozin
I'm grateful to Shyamalan for messing up. That prompted the production of a better funded better planned live action.
12:00 I have to give the benefit of the doubt. Yes, Bumi is over 100 years old, but he’s also shredded, so I think he looks fine given his design in the animated show. If he were just an old man then yeah, they could get someone older.

There's no doubt about it, Gordon Cormier is Aang!!!!
I teared when i saw this. Finally
Automatically subbed hearing the first minute of the video 😂
Teo and the Mechanist are in Omashu for consolidation and because having the air temple vs fire nation fight would be the equivalent of having two finales, in terms of money for Netflix at least

This is actually looking really solid 😮
3:21 feel like their just different designs for commander zhaos boat and only place I can think of are from Siege of the north or winter solstice part 2
4:48 idk how they got the lighting here so perfect like it’s actually stunning
10:41 two things
First is im noticing at least for this shot is theirs a lot less of the ramps they use for transportations which could be just for this shot and I wouldn’t be surprised but just through I mention it.
Also another thing I think sense the boomy episode was (at least to me) kinda weak for avatar their gonna try to mix it with the season 3 episode where sang has to learn that the world has made changes to things he’s loved
Which I think could be super cool and could work super well for this episode and season 1 if done right and mixed right!
But do agree I hope we see what happened to that air temple in some form because I think its pretty rad
11:02 just wanted to point out how much I love the way the blue spirit mask looks.
Season 3 episode? What episode are you talking about
This is looking like a Huge Step up from the previous Films Dude, Holy!
My heart...
4:04 I think that's Sozin and Gyatso
I hope the actress can pull off the psycotic nature of Azula. I'm so hyped🎉
i've never gotten into avatar but the vfx look amazing, will def be watching
I don’t know why Sam being shocked the effects look good is just hilarious to me. lol Why wouldn’t they? The effects were one of the few things that were decent in the live action movie. At the beginning, don't think it's fireballs. It's probably superpowered firebenders flying into battle!
We dont see Buumi without his shirt on until the end of the episode, and when he takes his shirt off it doesnt look real lol. So im kinda okay with this because how is an old man gonna be that ripped and have the iconic Buumi voice and laugh

Nah Appa is PERFECT

You’re right at 4:35 he was fighting monk gyatso ending him I like this because they didn’t show it in the cartoon series
To be honest, I thought Bumi would be completely in CG, seriously, there's no way to do his movements when he's a +100 year old guy in real life, I'm fine with his cast.
I can’t believe this trailer looks this good. I’m so excited!
It seems like they’re removing the northern air temple episode and introducing those characters in Omashu instead
The scene where ang hugs katara and soka, i think is another change. I think it when they are taken by haibi. They come out looking groggy
That's Sozin vs Gyatso
This looks like alot of fun. Has netflix finally found its groove??
I DEFINITELY GONNA HOPE THEY’LL ADD TOPH POSSIBLY !!!!
🤩🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀
Sam the guy in the past with the fire.. It might be Sozin
My only 2 nitpicks are that the backgrounds are clearly CGI. Pretty CGI. But they definitely don’t look like they’re in any actual place most of the time. Woulda been cool if they shot on location more often for. But I won’t complain.

This is releasing on my birthday, might be the best birthday gift ngl
Sokka is Solka ❤
DEF GONNA WATCH THIS DAY ONE
We won the fans WON ❤🥹🥹
4:16 Sozin?
I got chill when I seen this
4:22 Its sozin
Sam are you going to finish sa2 when sonic movie 3 is out or after you see the movie
Genuinely my most petty critique is that wind is supposed to be surrounding him in a ball when he goes into the avatar state at 2:35 .. but everything was just still. Other than that, its such an amazing trailer !!!
Agree, but it was a very short clip so there is still a chance wind will be added a bit further into the same clip. That's just a hope though.
Netflix actually listened to the fans, Disney take notes
8:50 not the AI image 💀
(Dw I'm sure you didnt notice😭)
Sonic and avatar lover who is also watching through the original dragon ball here 🖐️
8:44 why use a weird AI upscalled image lol
And here I am trying to get every single follower in sonic and the black knight. Let me tell you it’s very time consuming. I wonder what it would be like if Sam did a stream of just that?
WAIT, SAM'S GOING THROUGH DRAGON BALL?! :D

They didn't show the blind bandit, though. :(((
She comes in during book 2. This only covers book 1 so far.
@SamProcrastinates Omg, thank God. Can't wait for The Boulder as well. XD
Its book2 . Obviously they are going the start with book 1 where it all started
Aang flubbed the word responsibility. I hope that got a retake and that the whole show doesnt have weird-ness like that lol
Did people forget the creators left? Once people see the changes that Netflix made and the creators didn’t want, people are gonna dislike this show.

Naw man M Night did such a great job on the film and the effects whereas this just seems to ''fake'' according to the trolls out there
The characters didn't sound like they did in the cartoons back then
I mean this is the live action version
Omashu part i get it. The change doesnt matter as far as i see it. Remember shamalaya movie. L😂😂😂 i dont want it to be shot for shot. N boomy getting a 70 yr old. Or as u say 100 yr old person bending? Bring in the wheel chair too. 😂😂😂😂
