I like double columns for deeper study to see the trees, but I like single column for reading large sections at a time to see the forest! 😊

I was able to recently pick up a NLT Select at a 50% discount thanks to another RUclips posting. I had it rebound in Red sheepskin with a black goatskin interior. I have a couple of the NKJV you posted as well as the KJV in Read Goatskin (also a favorite). I have the NKJV in Blue Leather with the nice gilding and it's currently out for a rebind. I also have a couple of the NASB SCR (a nice Burgundy goatskin from Zondervan) and a couple from the Lockman Foundation which I have had rebound. Love these types of videos. Have a Happy New Year!

That black friday 50% off sale finally knocked out the rest of the NLT Selects. Such a great Bible and deal. Those that scored them got really lucky. Now I see them back up to $200 on the second hand market

    Good choices, Tim!
My personal fave: LSB ICR. Verse numbers actually out to the side is just TOPS ever for finding your place while teaching. And with references top/notes bottom, on most pages it leaves space in the inside column to add notes of your own.

I understand why preachers/teachers love the VBV format. For me, as a reader, it doesn't work. It feels like I am reading an endless wall of text. Or like a looooooooooooooooooong run-on sentence. It fatigues me mentally and visually. I know that's strange, but there you go. We are so blessed to have all these options.

That NASB by Zondervan is one I own and was shocked at the amazing quality! It felt and looked just like my Nelson premium NKJV but has a fake leather cover (obviously). What a great rebind option. Glad you gave it an honourable mention!

The ESV Personal Size Reference Bible is such a great deal. 🙂It's affordable (currently around $15), portable, and readable (given its aesthetic design). I have it in the 2007 text, 2011 text, and 2016 text, in part because I use it so much I keep wearing it out after ~5 years. To be fair, the fact that a "cheaper" Bible lasts me about ~5 years is amazing. (Not sure I like Crossway continually updating the text, but their updates just happened to coincide with my desire to buy a new EDC ESV.)
For other single column ESV Bibles, I like the ESV TruTone Heritage, but it's a lot bigger and chunkier than the ESV Personal Size Reference Bible, though the Heritage is one of my favorite layouts of any Bible in any translation. Similar things could be said for the ESV TruTone Legacy, but it's even wider and longer (but less chunky) than the Heritage. I love the ESV Reader's Bible in TruTone as well, but it lacks verse numbers and references which many people want in a Bible. The Cambridge Clarion ESV is awesome, but it's an expensive premium Bible.

I love my ESV Heritage! First time I'd ever used a single column and black letter. I'm hooked! I do have my darling NKJV "baby" Macleran, which is double column. But I'm okay with it because it's so clear even though it's a compact. I had to finally donate my beloved ESV Large Print Compact because I could no longer read it comfortably.

My favorite LSB Single Column has become their Handy Size. Simple VBV in a manageable size without any cross references or notes to speak of. Plenty of margin space for your own notes. It is available in premium editions from Royal Jongbloed all the way down to faux leather covers with surprisingly great paper.

Great list! Hopefully many find it very helpful. As I don't prefer verse-by-verse Bibles, I hadn't seen the ones which denoted the beginning of the paragraph by bolding the verse number: what a great workaround! It seems like it would make each paragraph much more visually distinct to readers than using the "good" old paragraph symbol. I love seeing useful, newer innovations in printing like these: it's so cool to see improvements still being made to publishing, an industry that one may take for granted as having already figured everything out there is for humans to know.

The KJV is one I own, but with a different cover and no index tabs. I haven't used it much yet, but maybe in the new year.....
I have an NKJV reader's edition, but I'm not used to it, with verse and chapter numbers downplayed an no references. I also have an NKJV single-column reference Bible. I like the layout but I'm not overly fussed by the cloth-on-board cover. The NKJV Ancient-modern Biboe is an interesting one.
Another I have is a single column NET with references.
The CSB single-column edition I have is a basic black letter edition, and seems set to be one of my new favourites.

Great list! I love my LSB ICR...daily devotional with that one there. Have the out of print NKJV and same KJV and agree with both! For ESV it's under rated and rarely mentioned but I like the single column thinline...check it out! For CSB, it's the original Pastor's, conceptually same but larger and no gutter issues, lower quality goatskin genuine leather with vinyl lining, thinner paper though. NASB 2020, I go compact or the wide margin Trevaris layout.

Wish we had more of these in the Catholic world. The Jerusalem Bible and the Baronius Knox Bible are about all we have, aside from a couple of RSV2CE notetaking Bibles -- and I don't consider those single-column as much as one column of text and one column of blank lines.
The New English Bible has long been a personal favorite in single-column.

I had a Zondervan NRSV Single Column. It was good, I paid $10 bucks for it because it was imperfect. I could never decide what was imperfect about it, it seemed fine to me. It didn't have the Apocrypha so when I got my HarperCollins Study Bible I set it free into the bookworld. I don't keep a whole bunch of copies of different translations. My other favorite Single Column is the New English Bible 1970 Hardcover edition from when it first came out. My copy is in great shape, but I have been reading the NRSV mostly.
That CSB looks nice, but $108? That is more than I am willing to pay for a Bible. There are a whole bunch of CSBs on Lifeway clearance for under $10 .

@@anickelsworthbiblereviews I liked the HCSB when I read through it like 10 years ago. I still have that on my Kindle. If I were to get a CSB right now, they have a Verse-by-Verse reference Bible on the Clearance page for $14. It is 2 column, but if the font is 9 or above that is not a deal breaker for me. They have a cloth-bound reference Bible, single column for $26, that would get the job done I bet. That must be the one you are thinking of.
