I grew up watching this as a child and years later (decades later) I've shown this to my daughter. She told me that she was inspired by it. It definitely spawned our imagination when it came to reading. When I was younger I struggled to turning sentences into pictures in my mind at an early age but after watching this regularly the show changed all that. I use to watch it after school. Who ever put this series together was cleverly crafted at what they did.
I expected each faires promise to take away from her beauty each thing they lacked or her firstborn childs but what a great ending. Made me think of sleeping beauty fairies and rumplestiltskin.
I love the Storybook International, aside from the amazing theme song, the episodes are peaceful. Sloth and gluttony are my greatest vices and this resonates well on me. Pray, fast & hope, I don't waste anymore time because time is the most precious, life is very short & death is like a thief in the night. So. Quick question. Why is a minstrel from 12th/13th century singing in an American accent… about a country discovered in 1492 by an Italian for Spain?
The original intro song has the voice singing in a English West Country accent. And the lyrics were "in England I am John." I would guess that the series was sold to the USA and in order to appeal to Americans, the voice was changed and the lyrics became "In America I am John". That's the only educated guess I can make for the change in the intro. Anyway, I grew up watching this series and loved it!!!
