Wow, I just found this online here. I was at this talk. I work nearby and I used to wander over after work about once a week or so to browse the books. I came up the escalator and was surprised to see the sign advertising the appearance THAT VERY NIGHT of Coley and Moore promoting their book. It was totally random chance I had chosen this night to stop in to browse. I enjoyed their talk but I had already bought the book so didn't buy one that night for them to autograph. But I'm not one much for getting autographs, anyway. I got R. Crumb's autograph on a book of his drawings, and that's about it.

Crimsonphilosophy Marc masters book is the supreme work... both are great reads but Marc’s book is brilliant. Endorsed by weasel Walter (seriously knowledgeable about this topic as well) has interviewed lunch and plays with her... read masters book multiple times it really has it all.

@wwwhatsup Actually, while Thurston Moore was a participant in the No Wave movement (he went to the shows/exhibits and was a guitarist in Glenn Branca's "guitar orchestra"), Sonic Youth as a band was not. They formed right after the movement ended in 1981. So, they would be considered "Post-No Wave" like Swans and Bush Tetras. Thurston Moore himself says this. The guy you responded to is wrong as well. Moore actively archives the No Wave, and he has never promoted Sonic Youth (he didn't even

Judging from the video it would seem that Thurston did have sizable input in sourcing and selecting the content. As far as no wave goes SY has to be credited, much as say the Rolling Stones did with Chicago Blues, in bringing awareness to a whole new generation of a musical movement that might otherwise have languished in obscurity. Personal distaste does not invalidate that.

@wwwhatsup list them as a No Wave band in the book that is being talked about in this video. When Moore talks about No Wave, he speaks as if he is an observer, not a participant. So, yea... kaf68820 is letting his dislike of Moore get in the way of knowing facts.
