    I really liked the concept of this case. It could have been so good....but the Cooler Master did what they usually do - have a great idea and implement it poorly.
    Anyway, if you want a compact ATX case (and can't afford the Cerberus), do yourself a favor and get the Raijintek Thetis. It's even smaller (only 27L in volume), better built, prettier and has better cooling. Or a Silverstone Grandia if you prefer the horizontal type of case for something like a TV rack...

    the most underated case of all time in youtube. there is no such case that can fit a full ATX motherboard in a mini itx case. i even fit a 280mm radiator and 2pcs 14cm fan at the top (depend on the motherboard alluminum heatsink can hinder the radiator, if ever just remove the heatsink). this can even fit a 14cm fan in any position except at the exhaust. the downside is just the acrylic panel. no more no less. YOU DID NOT EVEN INSTALLED 1 fan bellow the PSU and 2 FAN at the BOTTOM. complete the fan slot before you dictate and put a 14cm. and your PSU is wrongly positioned, if it can fit at the bottom side then put it there if it cant hinder the gpu. then put a 14cm fan above the psu so it can directly intake the cpu fan directly.

    I just built a gaming system with this case, it is amazing. Temps are great as well, I threw in 2 Deepcool RF120M fans at the top, one at the rear, 1 at the front, and 1 as a cpu cooler fan. System never gets higher than 30 degrees celcius. CPU at full load running Prime 95 hovers around 73 degrees celcius, but this is normal, I was running a 7600k. Did you stress test using 2.66 version of Prime 95? It works much better for the 7600k,7700k, 8600k and 8700k.

    I bought this case for my cousin and I kinda like it. He had an matx pre-built and this is smaller than that case although it fits atx. The front mounted psu was an interesting concept as well. Gonna have to go back and bring him another fan and replace his stock heat sink but overall I'm happy with how light and small it is, and it's a simple design so it looks nice sitting in the corner of the desk. I think 40 or 50 usd would be a more appropriate price point though.

    Well I've just transplanted my ryzen 7 and 5700xt system into the q500l from a Fractal Design r2 (one of the best older model cases around)
    I was filled with dread at the expected result but after purchasing a new entertainment unit for the lounge it was pretty much a necessity to fit in there.
    Case is placed horizontal, I've dropped a 120mm intake to the left of the GPU, a 140mm I take to the right of the cpu and kept the stock exhaust fan.
    Ryzen 1700 with a silentiumpc fortis 3 cooler - max temp under prime with avx - 52c
    Powerxolor Red Dragon 5700xt running oc bios - 62c maximum under furmark
    Running both simultaneously pushes another 2c or so on each.
    I'm not seeing a single issue cooling wise with this case if intake fans are added, it's on a par with my old R2 on temps.
    Its noisier and build quality isn't amazing , they're about the only negatives in opinion.
    Also drive wise I've managed 2 fit 2 x 4tb hdd, a 3tb hard drive, and a 1tb ssd (aswell as my nvme drive)
    All those hole perforations that the entire case is made of means you can adapt it to fit way more drives than it was designed to do originally.

    I have the Q300L, and I actually quite like it considering the cost, though I got it for a secondary computer which doesn't create much heat in the first place. The modularity of the design is quite nice. I don't know how much worse the cooling is in the Q500L, but some fairly simple modifications would probably get it to work decently, as Dmitry suggested.
    It could still be a good value for someone who has a full ATX motherboard, though I'd recommend not bothering with a full ATX board anyway. You'd be much better off going with an mATX board, which will fit fine in the better design of the original Q300L.

    • @RymeofDawn
      @RymeofDawn 5 лет назад +7

      Yes it would make more sense but in terms of testing thermals consistently, no. He uses the same cpu cooler, noctua fans and gtx 1080 for each test to keep it consistent in testing and testing out the limits of the case. There are plenty of cases around this price point that do way better in terms of cooling than this, like the NZXT H500

    • @RymeofDawn

      @@ktxdgqtx That doesn't make sense since a similar testing method is done with any good case review. Just look at Gamers Nexus review on this case. It was hotter than the Walmart Gaming PC which is saying something. The same components are being used is ever one of those cases and there are plenty of cases in that price point that do way better. If every case review was based on what configuartion would be optimal for it, then every case would have good thermals which would be pointless. Also, about the car engine analogy; that is also wrong since you can put a 1000hp engine into an old car and still be fine. That's why they are called sleepers.

      Yes! I don't really understand why but when I would put my hand inside the case I don't feel a lot of air coming in, but infront of the case I would feel a bit of air going out on the edge of the fans, so some kind of air circle was being formed. Try taking out all the fans and leave only the exhaust, I suspect your temps will go down because that's how I was running for the first week and the temps were ok (I also have a 2200g). After getting the two front 140mm the temps started getting crazy, I could go to 65-68 while gaming. On the Ophion I can get to 60 after one hour of AC Origins, but usually it's in the mid 50s. On the Q300L I used an Arctic Freezer 33 for a while and it was much better, but still I'm not going back to the Q300L, the Ophion is half the size, and when my Big Shuriken 3 arrives the temps will probably drop like 20C lol

    I know this thing isn't the best in airflow because all those vent holes are too small to flow air well. Still I like the size for a full ATX build.
    I'd be willing to drill out the holes larger in the area of my fans, add my own taller feet, and maybe even use an SFX PSU. If your willing to mod, and I am, this could be an interesting case. It inexpensive enough that I don't mid experimenting and modding.
    You could easily down size your current ATX build with just a little effort. A compact ATX build would be cool and that compactness (especially for ATX) is very appealing to me.

    My mini ITX case is roughly the same size. On the plus side it doesn't cook the case internals, takes more drives of any format than you have SATA ports on an mITX board AND has an additional hot swap bay, and it has absolutely no GPU clearance issues (takes a 14" card effortlessly). That being said I feel like the volume of the Q500L is criminally underutilized and still comes with a lot of compromises. It's still too large and has nothing to show for it.

It does not "compromise structural integrity" enough to matter. I have six 4.5" holes cut in my Q300L, yeah it's fine.

    Can the PSU also be mounted at the normal spot (with some fiddling)? I´m thinking that if you´d use a smaller board, a liquid CPU cooler with a 240mm radiator at the top (out) and two 140mm fans at the front (in) you would get better thermals.

    I have a q300l and picked it because of its weight. And yes I realize that's a bad qualifier but I had a specific place I wanted to put it.
    the best setup I could do is two 140mm static pressure fans in front and two 120mm exhaust fans (throw away the stock one) on back and top back. I didn't bother putting an exhaust on the bottom because my power supply is stupid big and the short legs. The gpu doesn't seem to get unreasonably hot like the cpu though
    The top one is a result of a weird hotspot on the top of the case so I'm hoping the exhaust helps the heat escape quicker so it doesn't become a problem
    Everything considered I still ended up undervolting my CPU so it doesn't go above 80 and make all my fans ramp up extremely quickly.

    • @ninjabuddy1
      @ninjabuddy1 4 года назад

      This is also my first ryzen so I'm not completely dismissing the possibility the motherboard drivers are causing this somehow but I only got real results after disabling the boost clock (something something overdrive) and going into ryzen master and undervolting.
      The processor is a 3600 and is more than what I need but definitely a bummer that it won't see it's full potential without becoming unbearably noisy

    Looks like they tried to make a bigger q300l, but did it wrong. The lil buddy (which i have) is amazing, mesh looks clean and doesn't scream gamer as this one. Psu is located on the bottom and you have 5 total spots for fans ( 2 top ,2 front ,1 bottom close to the psu) and 1 good exaust fan.

  • @roger_985
    @roger_985 5 лет назад

    I think if this case had taller feet and a better dust filter on the bottom it would allow for bottom intake and top exhaust.
    Two intake fans on the bottom and two exhaust fans on top. Maybe even rotating the cpu cooler 90 degrees to vent towards the top of the case might get better results. I like the compact size and overall look of the case. I think it has a lot of potential with a few small changes.

    I don't have any issue with cooling in this case... I have an R9 390 in it, and it sits behind a TV.
    Fan set up is just some left over bitfenix fans I had:
    2 fans out, rear and top rear,
    2 intake fans both front.
    No fan on front top because then you are just blowing out the fresh air you just pulled into the case. before it gets to anything.
    Tower cooler is a cheap Akasa Stormforce thing I got off ebay, the fan is set to pull through the back of the cooler because there was not enough ram clearance.
    CPU is a Skylake i5 6600k - stays below body temp on idle, never goes above 50c
    Graphics is MSI R9 390 Idles at 50 - 65c no matter what I do in all cases I put it in, I think its just how it is.
    I just don't understand the "Bad Thermal Performance" shite people keep labeling this case and the Q300L with.
    Also why do you only have 1 fan pulling air out while complaining the thermals are bad.
    I agree on the bottom dust filter though, I yanked it off mine and bought an extra of the magnetic ones. my case lies flat so I don't need the feet.

    I've been a year with the 300L version and it's not good. The motherboard position limits the space on the top so it was difficult for me to fit a 120 mm fan. Also the one included doesn't do much.
    The filters got wrinkled just by taking them off a couple of times to clean the dust. And the holes make anny rgb look terrible. It looks really ugly without the filters
    The acrilic panel is more scratched than my old blackberry to the poin of making the inside of the case look blurry
    The bottom dust filter is really fragile and every time I take off the plastic caps, it breaks a bit more

    What if...hear me out, you rotated the CPU cooloer to blow exhaust air out the top of the cast. Then, install fans on the bottom of the case. Then use the exhaust as an intake. Furthermore, use an sfx power supply that faces outwards for it's own air source. After, install a 120mm or 92 mm fan as intake below the sfx PSU. Finally, rotate the whole case onto its side with the "glass" facing up.This configuration would then have four intake fans, forcing air out the top (ake the right side when laying flat), with the CPU cooler assisting with exhaust.
