Nearly 20 years later, still I'm gutted. They were every ounce as talented and likeable as Girls Aloud. I loved their voices, charisma and good looks. They so deserved to reach the upper echelons of superstardom.
This song was brilliant. However, when it came to the Popstar Rivals Final - Louis Walsh had an Ace up his sleave - he introduced Girls Aloud and their first song - 'Sound of the Underground' - which was an instant floor filler/hit - but One True Voice's (OTV) song, managed by Pete Waterman - 'Sacred Trust' - just didn't have the same pull , hook or pazzaz as the Girls Aloud song. This lead them to win the competition and then come out with hit after hit. And OTV, just went downhill. But this song, was probably their best in my opinion.
Fancy winning a spot in the next big boy band on a high profile TV show, only to be told to model the BHS summer collection to this pish soundtrack done on a 1980s Casio keyboard. haha!
Just watching this knowing how much Daniel hated this song is everything. The part where he tries to tell Keith all about Shakespeare in the first chorus .. 😂 and his shimmy during the first scenes kills me
I remember watching CD:UK, the pop chart show in the early 2000's on ITV, and some famous people reviewed this single. Melanie C from The Spice Girls described it as "really really poor, it sounds like 90's stuff rehashed", and Louis Walsh the music manager described it as "crap". It's amazing how successful Girls Aloud became after forming on Pop Stars The Rivals, they were the most successful girl band ever, no other girl band lasted as long as they did, and this band One True Voice had a couple of mediocre singles then vanished forever.
@@卩丨尺卂卂-d8u The Spice Girls had two years of success from 1996-98 before Geri Halliwell left, they then did one more album as a four-piece but it wasn't the same and they weren't as popular. They broke up not long after, then reformed for a tour many many years later. It was different for Girls Aloud as they were consistently a band for over a decade.
Don't tell me about Girls Aloud! It's obvious that they didn't want Javine in that gruop because she is black. I always remember when I was calling the hotline for Javine to make it in the group and it kept saying Thank you for voting for Nadine.
Little Mix is actually more successful. They also lasted a decade and they have released and sold more albums, had more no.1 singles, run more headlining tours, and won more Brit awards than Girls Aloud.
This is a terrific track and needs to be re-released.This is the right type of music for the current market. Twist the guys fingers with the right package and i bet theyd do an album 👍
n total agreement. Maybe rid of two of them and you have a great contemporary trio. Love this tune from time. Could of been a great entry for Eurovision at one time.
If I had Shakespeare's way with car modifications, I would buy a car without a bonnet - then put a bonnet back upon it. Then I would just stick to words.
After watching 'X Factor:The Band' tonight, it made me think of 'Popstars The Rivals' and I ended up checking out some of there vids. This was/is a really good song, it should have been their first release.
What you mean this song is too 70's/80's, Iwould say 80's/90's + that is all the rage and has been for years! And also it was a hit single in UK + Ireland! So doesn't matter what you think, and the broke up for few reasons!
Yes I said to my husband the first time I heard it that song is written by Rick Astley. When I bought the cd I looked the credits and I was right. The lyrics Don't know much about nothing know nothing much at all I knew it had to be a Rick Astley song
one true voice were hands down better singers than girls aloud! i'd argue they had the better songs too - they just weren't as gimmicky as sound of the underground etc
This gay song and even gayer video destroyed One True Voice. I actually liked 'Sacred Trust' but this killed them. It wasn't even their fault either as I'm pretty sure that they hated it too.
Absolutely loved this track, never ever gets old. Please release it again!
Imagine winning popstars then finding out this is the song 😮
Brilliant song, had this on CD single and 'Sacred trust'. I knew Matt from his gigging days around N.Wales just prior to OTV and he was a nice lad.
well i gave him a BJ in my truck so i win. im a guy btw
Written by the one and only Rick Astley
This song is so groovy. 🔥

You are right, they were robbed.

They’re vocally more talented than girls aloud but unfortunately they don’t look like a boyband but more like random dudes put together.
But, alas, they weren’t Girls Aloud.
Another guilty pleasure of mine and I have no idea why but it's a great catchy track.
Yeah it’s almost intangible as to why it is exactly how you describe
They were very good looking just a shame they had Pete waterman who was stuck in the 80a given the right songs they could have been massive
This is actually a really great song!
No it isn't!
@@andrewdevine3920 lol
I feel like the beat etc (not a musician) is perfect for the genre. Maybe an entirely different lyric list and this is a popular track?
This was banger tbf
this was a fab track

Alan Dudman you must be Scottish only we can say pish lol
This made me piggy snort with laughter. Damn you
Loved this group ❤❤❤
I agree it's a nice song..
Love it

which fkr is daniel
This was their best song to be honest.

what about the Spice Girls?

Rick Astley wrote it… Pete Waterman lost his touch by then…

Still love this song
Pete Waterman screwed this one up big time
Felt sorry for these lads as they had so much potential to be big yet they were robbed
I agree 👍🏿

I think it would go Hot 100 in Japan
Yeah. Has Top 1000 smash written all over it.
Love this song still in 2024

Yay! My favourite song of theirs! Shame they didn’t get any further following their debut album and this single. Nick

Great tune
Good song amazing vocals shame the record company didn't push them in the USA.
Love this song
They didn’t quite overtake the Beatles as first suggested
They did
@@daveclark3337 In what way exactly?
Lauriston Smith better music and more sales

It’s such a pity that these guys had the managers they had, this song is too 70/80’s.
written by Rick Astley lol

rather listen to this than most of the crap out these days
Rick Astley wrote this ...on NOW 55... a RickRoll that's not a RickRoll.

Sounds so obvious once you listen to it........... did not know that
They want to be like Romeo - Romeo topped himself. They want the girl to be like Juliet - Juliet topped herself.
One True Shit !
Sounds like a Rick Astley B-side.
Rick Astley actually wrote it.
@@cliffhulcoopofficial8075 Satan wrote it, Astley just channeled it
One True Voice had the potential to be superstars but they were mismanaged by Peter Waterman by turning them into a Hits Factory robots.
Pete Waterman is a pop genius.. look at Steps after the Hit Factory. While I love the bands music I think it was a matter of wrong place, wrong time!
Is the potential in the room with the room with us?
There is always that one guy who can't sing and is just there to make up numbers.
one true voice were hands down better singers than girls aloud! i'd argue they had the better songs too - they just weren't as gimmicky as sound of the underground etc
If One True Voice was better singing, how come they not still making music as band. And they disband so early?
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Haha nothing else to say 😂
That song is about them not the girls in it
great song, great vocals. however, it's a little weak for a second single. they had so much potential but didn't have a great production team. sad
Not a bad tune but I think they would have been better as a trio..
Daniel looks like vin.diesel..
It's like a parody music video/song that wouldn't be out of place in a comedy film/TV show. This crap killed this band.
:/
It's just so flat, they were set up to fail with this.
rubbish
This was so uncool! I liked it but 'Shakespeare' should have been cut from the lyrics, just Way with Words would have been way cooler.
if i had way with words?
poor song
This gay song and even gayer video destroyed One True Voice. I actually liked 'Sacred Trust' but this killed them.

Daz Smith I can't think of an all gay boy band who have ever sung a song such as this one.
