  • Just having a little fun and trying to replicate the elusive Brown Sound! Sorry guys, I don't own a vintage "Plexi" or a Variac yet, so this will have to do! Long Live Edward Van Halen!!

      Thank bro! 😀It's fun chasing that sound, even without a vintage plexi! Yes a couple up front - I used the MXR EVH Flanger during the Unchained section,(If you look closely you can see me engage/disengage it for the swoosh sound) and a MXR Phase 90 at the very end on the tapped descending lick. In the effects loop I used a Keeley Andy Timmons Halo ( I setup a big plate reverb type of patch, and another patch for the "On Fire" slapback echoplex sound) and an MXR 6 band Eq to fine tune the Marshall. Hope that helps. Don't forget to subscribe my friend. Thanks

      I think its pretty hilarious. BUT the JCM2000 is "ONLY" 20 years old!! I LOVE some vintage Marshall heads, but some guys can be real cork sniffers. They go around on their high horses talking a bunch of shit because they have to justify the insane price they paid. And half of those guys end up putting a $80 distortion pedal in front of their $8,000 amp. Lol

      Presence 2
      Treble 2
      Mid 1-2
      Bass 1
      Gain 7

      (I know it looks weird, but a couple weeks ago I saw a Nuno Bettencourt rig rundown on PremierGuitar and its very close to what he's doing with his JCM 2000s. Although I think hes using Lead 2 Channel with more Bass and a Ratt to tighten up the low end. The rig rundown has close up shots of his settings. I tried his settings at my last gig and it sounded nice as well.
      Flanger and Phaser in the front of the amp
      Delay/Reverb in the EFX Loop
      6 band EQ Pedal in the EFX Loop to fine tune the amp
      The tone was pretty damn close already, but the the MXR EQ Pedal was the icing on the cake. It has a very SLIGHT mid scoop. (Happy smile curve). Dip 400k and 800k just a little, And slightly boost 1.6k and 3.2K. I listened to Ed’s isolated guitar tracks and did an A/B test in the room, and tried to replicate that with EQ pedal. But all rigs are different, and there are WAY too many variables with just gear. And then the human element.

    Are they G12-75T speakers in the cab? It's got that Mid-scooped characteristic that I associate with those speakers. If so, then defo consider picking up some off-the-shelf G12M Celestions (the stock Chinese ones sound great, don't listen to the purists).

    • @BrunoFreitasMusic
      @BrunoFreitasMusic  7 месяцев назад

      Correct. Speakers are only a couple months old. I love Greenbacks! But the head is 100 watts. Too powerful for only 2x12 of Greenbacks. I like really like the stock 75 watters but I'm tempted to try some Creambacks with this rig! I'm running an eq in the loop as well, and that allows me to get a ton of different tones. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, Rock on!

    • @odgeUK
      @odgeUK 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@BrunoFreitasMusic Creambacks are a great shout! G12-65 and G12-80s would also be better options than the G12-75T. Love the EQ trick idea, never tried it but loved that Johan video where he was using EQ to mimic different speaker responses.

    • @BrunoFreitasMusic
      @BrunoFreitasMusic  7 месяцев назад +1

      I bet a Creamback would sound killer blended with the G12T- 75. Maybe down the road I'll buy one to experiment. I just got this 1936 around Christmas so it would be stupid to change out speakers. The current ones are probably barely getting broken in. According to the Celestion website, Joe Satriani and Yngwie both use the G12-T 75. If its good enough for them, its probably good enough for me. Plus with the eq pedal, I can emulate other types of speakers. The EQ pedal is a really powerful tool. It should have been one of the first pedals I bought!

    Sounds like a JCM 2000. Try a JMP non master volume, turned up, and get even closer.
    With all due respect, Edward's key ingredient was a 1968 Plexi. Otherwise you will not get anywhere near the roar he had. A lot of us finally accepted pre amp gain is not it. Using modern reactive load boxes, you can achieve thee sound at tolerable volume levels. A Marshall Super Lead 50 or 100 watt are LOUD.
    My hi gain amps are gathering dust, now that I acquired a couple amps that are replicas of the same amp Edward used.
    Keep chasing!!

    • @BrunoFreitasMusic
      @BrunoFreitasMusic  7 месяцев назад +1

      The Thrill of the Chase! I'm aware of that, but Unfortunately a 68' Plexi is not in the budget. I looked at some clones as well and may pick one up down the road. I bought this JCM2000 and have been very pleased. The funny thing is, I could have Eddie's exact RIG and I would still sound like myself!! The missing ingredient is Ed's HANDS!! However, it is a TON of fun trying to get there! I may throw a mic on it next time (used cell phone mic for the video), cause it sounds insane in the room! Thanks for watching., and don't forget to subscribe! If enough people subscribe, I'll be able to afford a 68' Plexi sooner! 🤣
