Scotty Anderson and Rob Fedders at Group Effort Studios in Northern Ky; 7 short miles from Cincinnati Oh. Such an amazing array of talent in that city.
My dad was in a very popular band in the 70’s & they had Kustom EVERYTHING purchased from Mr Music in Rockford Illinois. A year before he passed, he gifted me a white tuck & roll ‘66-dart that matched their stuff & it’s an amazing little practice-amp. It loves pedals and sounds great at low volume.
just ordered a Kustom 100W combo, today, for the second time..., DUde theyre hard to get, luckily I got my three Yamaha Pacifica 112Vs rite where I want them: home
Documentary? Thats a stretch... Good video regardless. The guy on tele- he might just epitomize the “dime a dozen” hotshot. So many notes, so little soul. Such perfection, little emotion...
Majority of equipment videos, I end up turning way down because the "guitarist" is so bad....the cat on the White Tele, made me turn it way up...very nice playing my man, very nice!
These are great, would be awesome to have them as a to amp setup running A (72 for clean) or B (36 for Slightly pushed) and A&B (for full power boosted sound).
are you kidding me.. Bud Ross, inventor and founder of the Kustom line, nothing covering it ?? just a cool video with cool sounds, etc.. But Hardly a KUSTOM documentary... Not Even Close
All well and good but not the 'doc' i was looking for. Not a waste of time but close. Only saved by knowing James had worked at Peavey as soon as he said his name (i had a Mace, SP112 and now a Vypyr) then seeing the Coupe amps. Still, not the '60s company story i was hoping for.
Thank you for the reply. I just recently heard about the poker game. I just wish i still had those old catalogs from Kustom (and Goya, Fender, etc...) when i was a kid in the '60s. These Coupe combos are pretty sweet, though..
@@vmat1000 the poker game was a myth. I was told by an old Kustom insider that Bud spent a ton developing the Kustom Kombo II and the Kustom board didn't appreciate it and fired him and sold the company
I made it all the way to 3:36 , yippie ki a , those Blue tuck & roll stacks in the late sixties looked way cool , to bad they were transistor, looks don't make an amp.
Suburb A Knight there are some recent kustoms that look like Marshall’s that are designed to be the modern counterparts of the old tuck n roll amps, they sound amazing.
Yea the ones from the sixties Era were not tube ,, but the two that he is showcasing here are all tube ,, but I'm sure u knew that tho ,,but in case you didn't
Scotty Anderson is very talented, but hearing him play loads of fast Country and Jazz stuff through those amps is not helpful at ALL to me. I don't play like that, and an amp that sounds good in that style might totally suck for my style. I kept hearing talk about Hendrix and English rockers, but I heard very little of that sound from those amps. I use a Kustom V100 2x12 Defender, and it sounds great. I also bought the 50 watt Defender, and it really sucked. I use a big tuck and roll K250 half stack for clean and cheezy psych and fuzztone stuff. The only thing I hate about the V100 is that it's so plain and boring looking. . ..like a down market Marshall Bluesbreaker knockoff. I wish it looked as cool as the K250.
Without John Fogerty, I wouldn't have considered a Kustom. He made his sound so good during the CCR era
Very good overall. But I wouldn’t call it a documentary and then not cover the Bud Ross Chanute Ks. Era.

too bad this "documentary" didn't even give a mention of the foundation of the gear
Thanks James for such a great amp!! I have a Kustom 72 Coup- love it!!
Man... to see soft machine and Hendrix as a child.. I can't imagine
Great little documentary. Very informative and as a major plus the genius of Mr Scotty Anderson. Legend!
I love combo tube amps! Remember Dean Markley amps? Good upload!
hey! it's Rob Fetters! and Scotty Anderson!
im going to get one of this kustom amp.great amp
I can highly recommend the kg100hfx half stack ! I got one for $90 for the head and cabinet! Ted Nugent plays one too!
The most interesting thing about this doc is, of course, how astoundingly brilliant Scotty Anderson is. WOW
just ordered a Kustom 100W combo, today, for the second time..., DUde theyre hard to get, luckily I got my three Yamaha Pacifica 112Vs rite where I want them: home
This was more of a Kustom commercial than a Kustom Documentary.
So what I’ve learned from this video is that the more wattage you have the better your chicken picking is and makes you noodle around longer!
I love Kustom Amps, have the HV-30 model
if anybody is not familiar, look up soft machine. killer band!

I've got a KUSTOM 250B AMP and I still use it.
These are great, would be awesome to have them as a to amp setup running A (72 for clean) or B (36 for Slightly pushed) and A&B (for full power boosted sound).
The higher end stuff that Kustom works on is actually pretty cool. The PA Gear and Amps that try to compete and the Behringer price point make me sad.
What does Scotty have on the nut by the "A" string? Gum?

i have a Kustom lead ii.
Although its solid state it sounds as warm as the sun
great doc
What a fabulous amp this really is. Super great work, James!
My brother had a black single cab in high school 1991. I was loud.
Hes such a wonderful guy...!
Amazing
A few years back you could buy pieces of the two amps they feature here. The 36 and 72 Coupe. I bought a few of the power transformers.

This doc was produced by KTWU and I borrowed it for my channel. It will give you more inside info. enjoy!

39:30 That seems to have happened to all music these days lol
thumbs up from michael t wyman culver city CA USA October 2018
Honestly, the biggest difference between the 36 Coupe amp and the 72 Coupe amp is the guitar player. 😅
Very enjoyable and informative
o man hendrix and soft machine. dam!

Waxing with fuzzy math....
@Kenneth Liburd chuffin don't math very well ?
Nice to hear and learn more about James Brown, but this is NOT a documentary ... more of an infomercial. And for God's sake, buy a tripod next time!
