    Thank you for wearing a mask!!! So important. Also just wanted to point out that technically both liquid and solid shampoos are made with detergents/surfactants we just are using different types that for some people are less irritating than some that are used in some shampoos. Which is the beauty of making yourself. I always appreciate how detailed and precise you are with your projects! These look great.

      Great comment and thanks for your kind words!
      Surfactants and detergents are both types of cleaning agents but they have some important differences in their composition that I would like to point out.
      A surfactant (short for "surface active agent") reduces the surface tension of a liquid in which it is dissolved. Soap (i.e. NaOH and oils post-saponification) is a type of solid surfactant.
      Like bar soap, the two solid surfactants in this formula (SLSA and SCI) are both 100% natural. SLSA powder is derived from coconut and palm oil and SCI powder is made from coconut oil.
      Detergent, on the other hand, is a modern type of cleaning agent that is similar to soap but is made with synthetic ingredients rather than natural fats and oils. Detergents do often contain surfactants but the two are far from synonymous. BUT.. I'm not trying to knock detergents here! They're great for cleaning hard water and for other applications like dish-washing and laundry but they contain a class of artificial surfactants that would not be found in these artisanal solid shampoo bars.
      I hope you don’t mind me getting really technical here.. :)

      @@earthglow I love technical lol. I just always try and tread carefully with ingredients and some of the fear around them. Because SLS and SLES and others aren’t necessarily bad, just might not work for everyone. I definitely get what you are saying though.
      As someone with ethnic hair the more powerful clean of a Sls or even an scs is VERY important occasionally to remove buildup. But definitely not an everyday thing. Shampoo bars are so great and I love how much less you have to use AND how much space they save! 😍

    Hello Allen
    Great tutorial!!!
    Could dye be used?

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  Год назад

      Absolutely! For this formula, you could use 0.01g aka 0.01%) water-soluble dye.

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  Год назад

      If you chose to do this, I’d reduce your 12g hydrolyzed rice protein down to 11.99 grams to account for the dye👍🏻

    The recipe calls for rice starch and you used rice ‘flour’. After some research I learned they are not the same thing .

      I have the same confusion 😮 humblebee and me has the video in you tube, recipe says rice starch, and she is using rice flour instead ? And use both, in separate batches they make my scalp itchy 😢😢

      Rice flour acts as a strengthening agent due to its amino acids which help coat hair and repair damage. Rice starch has hair benefits as well both the short answer to this is that both rice starch and flour have scalp benefits.
