I remember when they used to have tons of spinoff games, like Colosseum and Mystery Dungeon and Rangers. They need to get other people to make more spinoff games. Not only would this give them more time to make each game, as these spinoffs could fill the void between them, but it would also just give us more variety.
I would love to have more Mystery Dungeon and other spinoffs to release during years that don't have mainline games release
Exactly, I love some of the spinoffs, and I really wish they would get focused on again, because Gamefreak definitely needs more time to work on the mainline games. But what bothers me is how a majority of the fandom ignores them, and only to get impatient and demand the mainline, but get mad on how turn out being buggy.
I don't think that's going to happen. Because Pokemon already has tons of spin offs. But they are all live service games. Pokemon Go, Unite, Masters, Sleep, etc. These make a lot of money, so the Pokemon Co. has no incentive to take a risk with a single player game like Colosseum, Rangers or Mistery Dugeon.
Unfortunately very few people cares for spin-offs. Yeah, 1-4 million copies for each Pokemon spin-off is a great number and not every game developer could reach even these numbers, however, it's nothing in comparison to any mainline Pokemon game on Switch

I think GameFreak cares. There's a lot of little details and small random things they add in.
I think the Pokemon Company doesn't care, though. I feel like GF would gladly take extra time if they were given it, but that's just not gonna happen.

@@xeduskHave you seen Gireum Red's going through the employee reviews of GameFreak? They really don't care about the programming side of things. The only things they really care about in the series are the character/creature designs and the musical composition. Programmers are basically last-class employees, and it shows.

All the sales numbers that Palworld has announced are only based on Steam. So yes it quite literally DID smash records without gamepass.
Personally I just want more spin off titles we don't get nearly as much as we used to
Legends Arceous was such a refreshing game for Pokémon. I was sad how Scarlet/Violet went backwards in some aspects and felt severely more unpolished.
With Zelda TOTK and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (heck even Xenoblade Chronicles 1 definitive) displaying great open worlds, i don't understand why Nintendo doesn't demand same quality of Pokémon.

The series knows what it is and its niche(by niche I mean space) and what it wants to be and there’s nothing wrong with that and it doesn’t have to be anything else
The mainstream audience doesn’t care about graphics or bugs or anything they just like to vibe
People are just trying to make it something that is isn’t
And something that doesn’t fit its style
Maybe people who don’t like Pokemon just aren’t into RPGs and that’s fine dont have to use that as an excuse to be toxic

What I don't like about Pokemon is that it holds your hand, when I start a pokemon game I just want to play it but I keep being bombed with tutorials and I can't skip any.

The "Epilogue" was part of the 2nd dlc, it was just delayed so that the dlc could release before Christmas. Why else would it release just a month later?
The dlc was also 35$ instead of the previous 30$

A well made, polished, complete, fun Pokemon game.
One that looks good for this time and plays well.

Theres fans thats working their asses off to bring back classic serves for Pokémon Gen 4-5 games and barely anyone is playing online, we need to go back to the classics and have a fun experience.
I hope for gen 10 they wait until 2026 to drop it because if they are aware with how rough pokemon Scarlet and Violet were from the A team and do not want to repeat that they would wait until 2026 for gen 10, that being said I hope we get third party remakes this year to give both of the teams at gamefreak time to polish stuff this year, to make sure the proper region revisit is ready for 2025 and the new gen is ready for 2026 without either of them being rough around the edges like SV

Yeah I think Pokémon Fans should be patience for new Gens, I understand they want quick to new, cause our life is short. So I want GameFreak have more times. But I want new mystery dungeon, new ranger, and new rumble or something, they would help give to GameFreak get more time.

It's not just the hardware GameFreak needs to adjust to when it comes to new consoles. It's also software. For every new system, they need to develop a new engine to run the games. Obviously, BW's engine wasn't going to work for designing a 3D game like XY. Likewise, SwSh's engine was different from SM/USUM's engine. Frankly, I think GameFreak needs to make a long lasting engine or one that's easy to modify for new hardware. That or they need to license an engine that works better and learns how to use it.
Thats what I’m saying, all of gf needs to come together, create an engine, get USED to it over the course of a year or so for whatever hardware they’re developing for, and then CREATE for like 2-4 years
@@SoulStoryMode It honestly feels like they're using the same 80s-90s game philosophy of making a new engine for just about every game. That might have been viable in the 80s-90s, but it sure as hell isn't in today's world.

Does Legends Arceus count? Either way that’s the only new spin-off ip that isn’t a mobile game. There’s a lot of spin offs that could get a sequel and there’s always potential for new ips. The Pokémon company just need to properly manage things for the next few years and they certainly have the funds for it.
All I’m saying is that good spin-offs would be a buffer to let mainline MARINATE!
My guy says he wouldn’t have touched Palworld for 30 dollars when he bought a 60$ half baked pokemon game and 60$ worth of DLC not to mention he probably bought both S and V with their expansions. 💀
Damn bro the cope is real 4:30 literally half my steam friends bought the game for 30 bucks, plus 12 million others (not game pass). The real reason Pal World is doing so good is because Pocket Pal is actually making a game the fans want instead of just giving us whatever low effort dog shit nintendo feels like severing up for the year. Pal World has a lot more in common with Arc survival then it does Pokemon gameplay wise, so the fact that your saying its pretty much Legends just makes you sound like a Pal World hater lol.
But palworld and pokémon are apples and oranges so I don't get why anyone compares them lol I'm a pokémon fan. From what I've seen of palworld, I have no interest in playing that. At all. So whatever pokémon can do to improve their games, it's not copying palworld for sure. Other than that, scarlet and violet are just about 25 million in sales. I don't think Palworld is enough to budge a giant like that I'm pretty sure they're not worried.
Agreed that in a vacuum, the games need more time in the oven.
In the broader perspective, the new generations are a fraction of the pokemons revenue. They are a vehicle for other products, services and merchandise. They are on a strict timescale with new generations with very little breathing room. You delay the game for more development, you also have to delay the TCG, the merchandise related to that new generation, the TV series, the movies etc. Due to that, it won't happen.
They would be better off with a game (two versions and final all dlc directors cut sister game) each console generation.
Getting Gen 5 on the same hardware as Gen 4 set a bad precedent. Had Black/White been the shiny new 3DS games with all the 3D models and a whole bunch of new Pokemon and everything it brought in writing and _maybe also_ Mega Evolutions, that'd have been grand.

I think you're wrong about Palworld being something people soley picked up and will drop based on the state of Pokemon. There is already a dedicated community that I'm a part of, and I believe they can co-exist given Palworld is a survival game first and foremost, that also has marketable Pals, which I admit are a selling factor. Regardless of if the next Pokemon game is polished and undoes the mistakes of the Switch era, I'm just gonna be playing both. But fair points besides that.

that's BS, they have more than enough time to make a working functioning game, they waste it by taking short cuts that bloat the file. GF doesn't make games the way everyone else does and is why they break on the Switch, 3D games work differently than 2D pixel art games.

I actually think a game this year is fine(We're definitely getting one) since we didn't have a game last yet though I will say we don't need Gen 10 next year and I could see them holding off on that until 2026, as I've previously said since 2026 is the 30th anniversary it makes sense for that to be the year that a new generation will launch, and presumably the first new titles on a new console (Switch 2)

Would love that to happen because I never actually play it before.
It was 3 years between Gen 1 and Gen 2, just in the US. It was a much longer wait between the original _1996_ Gen 1 in Japan and Gen 2 not long before its Western localization. It was also like 2-3 years between Gen 2 and Gen 3, and worth the wait. We need something closer to that kind of cycle.
Also a "less is more" attitude towards refining a smaller number of things for the main game. We don't need a flashy trailer gimmick mechanic that will take about 40% of the development resources for a given generation and be completely discarded for the following one (Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Gigantamax, Terastalize). Just focus on the core mechanics, write a story that makes sense, give the NPCs teams that scale to your progress and are actually fun boss fights who can beat you if you're sloppy and careless.
I hope it's mystery dungeon and a new one, it's been all the way back on the 3ds since one came out if you ignore the remake. Plus it wouldn't affect the devs of the main series that way. Win-win IMO.
I don't think an extra year would do anything. I don't think they'd even get an extra year. The Pokémon Company knows that people will eat up whatever slop they throw out and that there will be people that will defend them. They are only interested in making money. Gamefreak won't have a say in it. I fully expect a new game to be announced for the holiday season as usual. Im hoping that Palworld's success encourages other developers to take a shot at the monster taming genre because we need more alternatives. Pokémon has had a strangle hold on this genre for too long and has done nothing to move it forward.

I agree with ya. Someone in a Twitch stream asked me what I'd think would drop on Pokémon Day, told them I didn't want to see anything this year and they were shocked. But yeah, I rather get a new Fire Emblem game this year.
100% agreed, I really feel that the mainline series needs to take a break so Gamefreak can have more time work on the games they so need. I would love a new Mystery Dungeon, Ranger or even Pokepark game, heck I enjoyed both Detective pikachu games. But one of the problems is a majority of the fandom ignores those, get impatient and demand more mainline, while Nintendo and TPCi seem to share that thought, which makes things tougher for Gamefreak. That's why I hope we don't get any mainline announcements and get spinoffs. Besides if Mario and Zelda can have breaks between main titles Pokemon should be allowed to do the same.

They DON'T even have to do a spin off. Simply unlock the remaining pokemon on S/V/ First batch gcomes out for Regulation G. And final batch for Regulation H. Also they could simply release some of the previous locked pokemon (post patch) as raids and hordes. Such as on release, Upon first patch do a 7-star raid for Mightiest mark Melmetal and hordes for Buneary, Tourtanator, Abra, Onix, and Galarian Zigzagoon. This is for the newer players or people without the older games to get access to these pokemon.
(Sheninja will be unable to use Tera outside of bug and ghost for obvious reasons)

Palworld is also not a true Pokemon clone, it's a survival game with monster-catching elements, so it is not a Pokemon killer.
They need to stop rushing these games out unless they hire other studios like Bandai or Atlus to make a game.
Imagine a game with motion control capture mechanics, a true lore filled open world with more focus on immersion than a generational gimmick and bringing a wide roster including favorites from each generation, an emphasis on story and world building. Please!

A lot of it seems like it's an issue with GF's Gear Project, where they have majority of their staff make other games besides pokemon. So it might also be a lack of people with the new hardwear they aren't used to.
I remember back when 2015 had no Gamefreak pokemon game, so many people on social media bombarded their posts on Twitter and even yt videos with "where's the next pokemon game?" "RIP Pokemon 2015" and "Pokemon Z when?"
Among other comments, it was so annoying that year and very sad at how impatient folks were.
It was exciting that mystery dungeon came back, but it felt like barely anyone talked about it.
2025 - Gen 10
2026 - Gen 10 + DLC
2027 - Gen 5 Remake or BW3
2028 - New Pokemon Spin-off
2029 - Pokemon Spin-off Remake

Super-simple guide for Game Freak how to keep annual releases AND having 5 years or more to develop a new mainline game:
- make ports and remasters of older games on a Switch
- give remakes, legends, let's go, whatever else to the other studio, that has a record of well-made games for the console
- ???
- you've successfully managed to take your time with the development of a new game, while still making money with yearly releases. Congratulations!
Bonus point: make an actually good live-service game that you could could keep updating. Something like mmo.
And not another cheap mobile cash-grabs please. An actually quality live-service game like Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Splatoon

I don't want a full open world pokemon game, especially if they are expected to make one within the development cycle that they currently are on. IT IS NOT REALISTIC!
ALL I WANT is for a good pokemon game with a good-enough story (would love something other than the 8 gym leader story they have had for a jillion years), QoL for competitive breeding (which they got), great multiplayer features for battling, etc.
Look I understand the appeal that open world games have! but does every game need to be open world to allow for exploration and/or flexibility?
And extra optimization because apparently game freak doesn’t think when we say Polish we actually means optimization
Ideally we wouldn't get another mainline until the Switch 2 drops but we all know that's not how Game Freak rolls...

A pokemon game a year is not bad, i don't think it should be mainline game a year though. They have to utilize their i.p. well to continue and be relevant even without a mainline game for a year or two. To be honest, i'd be sad not to get any mainline game a year but if delaying things would make games better, then maybe they should. I don't play much of the spinoff games though, so i'm curious how much damage it may do to the core fanbase if there'd be.
So I have been watching this video and honestly I do agree with a lot that is said. I have been a major fan of the pokemon franchise for most of my life and it hurts to see pokemon in the state it is in just because they are trying to meet deadlines. With that said I do disagree with some of the statements related to palworld as I feel that they are being misleading. I feel that palworld was never trying to be a competition to pokemon, evident in the game play of the game being much more of a survival and only using the monster catching aspects as a means to feed into a mechanic of set survival aspects. It is fans that are pushing for the comparison and while that controversy is the big reason for that success it only shows how the state of pokemon has deteriorated over the years. While pokemon will never be outdone outright they have been so complacent in their ways that it is leaving the door open for others that are trying to take a little of that success and the way pokemon fans have been trying to defend pokemon during this time is only serving to hurt pokemon making them look like wining babies who do not want any competition no mater how small to exist because pokemon is well pokemon. Tbh I like palworld and while a mess for other reasons which I am sure everyone is aware of I still love pokemon and want to see it get better, and while not a proper rival by any means I feel that the existence of palworld will push pokemon into greater heights as Pokemon responds to the new possible threat before something bigger shows up causing them more trouble. One could say to me Palworld is the representation of possibility and by improving now will prevent loss profits when something if anything pops up in the future that will overshadow palworld comes along and hurts pokemon more if left on the current course. Palworld is a scout, try to improve before the army shows up so to speak.

I'm sorry, but their best window for a do-nothing year was this SV year.
BDSP was ready. PLA was ready. They could have let the merch machine run with the port (I ain'tcallinf BDSP a remake), then let it run on Hisui.they would have had enough time to let one team polish SV & let the other play around with the new engine.
Now, there's the possibility of a year without a mainline Pokémon game. We'd love it, but they dread it.
Honestly, I really hope they don't release anything new for a while. At this point they could easily make bank with a pixel remasters of the older titles similar to the FF series to stall a year or two if they absolutely need to release something.

i joined a pokemon server a while ago, and saw someone call people [something i can't repeat on youtube] for taking issue with SV's complete absence of polish. i don't need bleeding-edge visuals, my favorite video game is Ocarina of Time for god's sake, i just think an IP that's worth more than the entirety of Disney should put out games that run as well as the other games on their platform.
but we're not gonna get that if they keep squeezing out a new title or three every year. i know the devotees of the church of pikachu will snap it up no matter what it looks like, and tPC gets their money all the same, but the players and the devs should both have more self-respect than that

If the drones will keep mindlessly buying every new Pokémon game, regardless of the poor quality, GameFreak, The Pokémon Company, and Nintendo will recognize that you're voting with your wallet and approving of their abusive decisions.
The best games also tend to be the spin-off games, because the third party devs tend to respect the source material and are able to write better stories. Meanwhile, with BD/SP, GameFreak, The Pokémon Company, or Nintendo intentionally told the developers who made the Dragon Quest games to leave BD/SP buggy and less polished and downgrade the graphics to ensure that it doesn't outshine the next mainline game (Scarlet/Violet). Yes, that scummy.
It’s definitely not going to be a “mainline “game. They are going to release a legends or remake game. We won’t see another mainline game till the next gen and it’s to early for that. Around late ‘25 or ‘26 will the next true mainline game come out
As much as i want a really good mainline pokemon game again, these games today only exist to introduce new pokemon they can sell merch for (same with the anime/movies). It wouldnt make sense to take longer to produce a good game... keeping pokemon in everybodies mind is more profitbale due to merch-sales, than a 10/10 pokemon-game would ever make, so why bother...
Soul I agree Pokemon needs to take a break because Pokemon is well pumping out games you are right we could use more time for the games and 3 year cycle needs to end crank it up to 5 to 6 years! We Pokemon Fans can wait.

Like that year was so horrible because ORAS, while good games, really didn't really have enough post game content to warrant 2 years of lifespan. Removing the battlefrontier shot Gamefreak in the foot because now fans have less things to do in their game and they knew that they were taking a break.
People were so EXCITED for SM, when the games first got teased, the games people slam these days (unfairly) because it seemed lacking for all of the time they put into delevopment.
I agree we don't need another Pokemon game this year, we got something better like PalWorld, anything that the Pokemon Company releases will be shit in comparison.

I have been playing all the Pokémon games on 3ds and a no mainline game will be cool
The teams put their hearts and souls into their sections of the games every generation but they don't get enough time or help to make sure that these games run well
The stories and characters(and the mons of course) have been very good for the past two gens but it's hard to enjoy them when large sections dedicated to specific parts of pokemon(like the lakes and swamps in SV) barely run at a proper frame rate

Ilca would have had 2 1/2 years by this summer to have made a remake of possibly anything. If they announce anything im hoping they were given a lot more time to create something great and are the ones behind the next release.

We are getting a johto game this year most likely. It should be fine for gamefreak since they have different teams working on different games
they need to work on accessibility in their systems that will work in conjunction with their games. they need a text:to-speech option for blind and Visually Impaired players like the PS5 and xBox.
