    Thanks mate : "off-road it's close to outstanding" is the kind of praise I wanted to hear as I'm thinking of putting new shoes on this horse. Cheers for the video 🙏🙏🙏

    Hi Martin. I have Mitas E07 on my Crf 250 rally and I am very happy with them. I have a normal E 07 on the front and an E07 plus on the back, only because thats what was available at the time. I fitted them myself and I didn't really notice them being too difficult to fit.However, I noticed on the Mitas website that they also do a Dakar version of the E07. I think they have even harder casings.

      Man David maybe it's the rim size or whatever but seriously thought a was gonny buckle the wheels getting them on. Even the motorbike tyre fitter was sweating and raging lol.. Great tyre tho 👍

    I used Mitas E07 on my V-Strom 650 and they were good , except in clay mud and deep soft sand. On my Tiger 800 I fitted either the E07 rear or a Motoz GPS (fitted in off- road orientation) and a Pirelli Scorpion Rally front. E09 rear is OK, the front sucks in sand IMO.

      That's good Kym got to use what works for you eh. I like the Mitas but I also like switching out rubber to try different setups 👍

      @@WeeJaunt I have been pleasantly surprised at how well the P.S.Rally performs on sealed roads and the life span is good for a full knobby tyre. It is great on dirt. I am going to fit Shinko 244 front and rear on my DRZ400 next.

    Hi Martin firstly terrible news about explosion in South ayrshire hopefully all is well with you and yours.
    Great video well explained personally I'm running and trying out mitas E-09 only about 500 miles on them mostly on road at the moment and as you say better once warm with slight rollover which personally doesn't bother me ,I also converted them to tubeless no problems to date

      Brilliant yep I'd prefer to go tubeless.. Maybe on the next set 👍

    Changed the tyres on my Himalayan last weekend. Still plenty of life in the Pirelli MT60 tyres it came with but I wanted maximum possible tread going into another winter. When I went shopping for tyres Pirelli weren't available so chose Continental Escape instead.
    Not quite as good as Pirelli on fast A roads but definitely better on rough roads, mud, and ice (bearing in mind I'm still running them in). Snow/sleet is forecast in the next few days so I'm interested to see how the Continental tyres will perform. The Pirelli tyres were great on snow last winter and I became addicted to the "shushing" sound the front tyre made as it carved through fresh snow on the local roads.
    There was sheet ice on the roads yesterday. Saw a few cars that had come to grief on my commute home from work. Himalayan performed flawlessly (as always) so I am optimistic about not going splat with the new tyres as the weather continues to deteriorate :-)

      Brilliant Henry yep I had a dead ish battery yesterday and a slight smattering of snow. Itl be chucking it down soon enough here in Scotland mate. I'm the same I don't mind riding in the snow all adds to the adventure. The Continental escape looks like a great tyre. I had them on the list tbh. Good luck with them I'm sure they will be fine. Thanks again mate 👍

      @@WeeJaunt Just a quick update - we had proper snow and ice yesterday and today. To my great surprise the Continental tyres performed better than the Pirelli ones even when cold. Definitely easier to steer at low speed and the bike felt even more sure-footed than usual.
      Had to make the commute home this morning in stop-go urban traffic (which I prefer to avoid at the best of times). Normally I bimble along country lanes but those are currently closed due to bird flu outbreak. Nevertheless the Himalayan performed admirably on the icy roads.
      On treated A roads my max speed was 25mph and on untreated roads I pootled along at 10 - 15mph. I love how well the Himalayan handles at low speeds!

    Have you thought about going tubeless? A bit of an investment as new rims required, circa £550 for rims and tyres.

    • @WeeJaunt
      @WeeJaunt  2 года назад

      I have Jeremy on an almost daily basis lol. I'm quite adept at changing a tyre at the roadside but it's not something I enjoy. Iv looked at various kits which are basically tubes of silicone and some rubber. Iv seen cooperb do what looks like a nice tubeless rim for the Himalayan but aye 500+ which tbh is not bad really when you consider the cost of a pair of tyres.. new inner tube 15 ish. Dunno maybe in the future 👍 Did you do it? Or you thinking about it?

    I've mentioned before my likings of the Conti TKC 80 on my Himmie but if i needed a longer lasting tyre the E-07 would probably fit the bill. There is a lot of good feedback on the tyres. The only drawback as you said was getting them on and off the rims. Changing the subject what helmet are you using and what is your feeling about it.

    • @WeeJaunt
      @WeeJaunt  2 года назад +1

      It's easy to tie urself in knots over tyre choice. Always compromise somewhere. The Helmet is the Nolan N70 2X.. I like it. Iv had it over a year now. Its very versatile removable chin guard etc but it's ece approved - PJ Homologated so all good. Plenty ventilation built in sun shade. Drawbacks it's a bit loud but not off the charts.

    How are these tires on wet tarmac?

    • @WeeJaunt
      @WeeJaunt  2 года назад +1

      They are OK I'm in Scotland so wet tarmac is a daily occurrence not let me down yet. There are better road tyres but dry or wet I'd be happy to lean these tyres no worries.

      It's a toss up between a e07 or e09 on the rear leaving the mt60 on the front. I ride a lot of gravel. Don't know how that'll work.. guess I'll find out. I ordered a bottle of sahara high spd tire sealant/wheel balancer.. some swear by it. Sounds like snake oil, so I thought I'd try some. 👍

    • @WeeJaunt
      @WeeJaunt  2 года назад

      @@sscbkr48 I agree if the mt60 has plenty of life left I'd leave it on. Its still a very good tyre and good enough off road.. I wasn't sure between the o7-09 went with the e07 in the end.. Probably not as capable in mud as the e09 but good enough.. You can't go wrong with either 👍
