The players did not one day say, let's drain these 3's for the highlights-- they were given the greenlight in basketballs sort of Moneyball era.

Too much court time because of AAU during the summers. There is no offseason to actually rest.
Mental burnout leading to physical burnout:
By the time these youngsters get to the league they’ve already been playing 15-20 years of basketball and many of those years with injuries.
      Highlight culture:
It’s hard for me to watch basketball these days because everyone wants to show off their bag rather than take a simple shot.
I’ve seen a player dribble a for 15 seconds when he could’ve gotten his shot off within the first 10 seconds several times.

What the guy said before me. It is what NBA research says too. These young guys come into tye league with a body with 30yrs of age to playing too much basketball and only basketball.

This is great content for training for developing players but I feel a valid point was missed during this conversation. The tendency to go for 3 is due to the demand and suggestion of shot choice with the new dependency on analytics. Gil is right, yes the 2 is given but a PJ tucker is strictly 3 or pass.
Harden was advised and successful going to the 3 - Morey’s Analytic Rockers + Harden had bought in. Ultimately, Kobe was right; this play style doesn’t win

This was a bad take taking shots at Player Development Coaches (trainers). You don't just focus on a player's strengths and improve them, you help them develop their weaknesses. Some stuff can't be cookie cutter like Gil said, I agree with that. McCants is tripping saying to train like your favorite player. D Wade can be your favorite player all day long, but if you don't have his athleticism then you can't mold your game after him.

I see this alot..especially with big men..I've seen alot of big guy, centers other guys doing double.cross..between the legs stepback jumper...I'm like unless the shot clock winding down..when are you ever going to do that move...you rebound and defend. And catch lobs...why are you working on stepbacks, and pull ups...

they just tryna be versatile bro. not everybody can be wemby with the shot creating or KD, but it’s cool to see people expand their game; but you right. the traditional big man is a lost art in the NBA because the game is expanding to where guards aren’t the only ones who can shoot anymore. the small guard has disappeared. basketball is more position less. the forwards play like guards now, and the centers shoot lights out and move like they’re 6 inches shorter. even Embiid you would think he would just be a paint beast but he’s over here hitting stepback middies and threes

Everything Gil And Rashad Are Saying Is "ABSOLUTELY CORRECT"!! However, The Reasons Why Basketball Has Lost Its Way In This Country, Is Because No One Teaches The Basics, Therefore No One Masters The Basics. College Men's Teams Scoring 55 Total Points And Winning. Bigs Have No Post Game. Guards Can't Make Simple Passes Or Come Off Of A Pin Down 🤷🏿‍♂️. This Highlight Era And The Exploiting Of AAU Basketball Doesn't Help Either. There's Simply No Guidance With These Divas Either.
