My only problem with it’s price... is that apple tends to redesign their product every couple years. One they redesign these iPads, you’ll have to fork out another $300-350 just to have the same experience. I get that it seems to be a great product. But the whole planned obsolescence thing is in full effect with this product. To the point where I think long term, the magic trackpad 2 and keyboard bought separately are the better buy. Cause at least in a year or two or more, they will still work with whatever iPad you have at that time.
Mike Camille I agree that a separate keyboard is a good idea. I recommend a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. It’s affordable and works with any mobile device. So one day even if you decide to buy a Samsung tablet, it still works well with it.

@@Justgambleit That's not viable as a solution, it's just a hack. Looks dumb, and barely functions that way. If you rest your palm while drawing eventually it will just go flat. Not to mention the magnetic mounting point for the pencil is then facing the table instead of the top of the iPad.

Unless you're mobile, and need to use this tablet for a lot of typing, it's not a necessary purchase. I ordered mine, never opened the box for three days and sent it back.
Been using keyboards with iPads for many years. I finally got rid of it. Wasn’t due to quality, etc. I just didn’t use it near enough. I don’t use my iPad Pro as a laptop replacement. I use it more for a media consumption device which there is nothing better IMHO. For that purpose, the keyboard just was extra “stuff” that I didn’t need. Nice video. This will probably be great for some. Not for me though.

My guess is we are likely looking at an entry level iMac with A14 this fall running iOS (which may be why the held back the 12Z). While I won’t need that iMac, it might encourage “full experience” applications.
I would’ve liked it if they’d included a free range of motion so it could fold back, maybe a skin that you could put on to protect the aluminum edges, and a row of function keys - for things like changing keyboard brightness, volume, pause/play, etc.

Laptop replacement except when in your lap. Like you know, a laptop. Thing is useless if the lap. Top heavy, hinge slides down slowly if you have it on your legs at an angle laying in bed or a couch. Laptop replacement that makes it a worse laptop than it was before.
I'm going to give my honest opinion. This iPad Pro is over hyped. Don't buy it. Many things wrong with it. The angle of screen should go further back, no keys for Esc/Backlight/volume/etc..., the track pad is small vertically (much better to use a wireless trackpad and keyboard), It's heavy, waaaay to heavy. It's insanely expensive especially for the 10.5" model. I would say wait until they perfect it. Bought it, returned it, waiting for Gen 2 of the product.
Sent back the 2020 MacBook Air due to having a fan with no connected heat pipe. Like having AC in your new car, but no air vents in the cabin. Just couldn’t do it. Ordered the 12.9 and MKB and will see how that goes. This will be my only device. I don’t video edit or code but I do like to draw and like the ability to go from laptop-alternative to tablet. Wish me luck. If this doesn’t work out I’m going to send it back and wait until next year and see what comes out. Maybe an ARM MacBook air would be a better design?

Mine arrived yesterday after a month long delay. I like it but I’m disappointed that out of the box, there’s a giant slash running across the E, F, V, & B buttons. I’ve also read online that people have received units with scratched USB ports. Whatever factory Apple contracted out for these doesn’t seem to be doing well in quality control. I want to replace it but my local Apple stores are still closed for the pandemic & if I try an exchange online, it might be yet another month delay. It’s a bummer to spend this much and it’s not pristine out of the box.
A 350 dollar keyboard that doesn't protect the device and completely ignores the pen functionality... and a key can be replaced for something small if needed. 350 dollars. Lol.
i really hope they have some protection the sides of the ipad for those who always bring their tablet to work school, etc. the design is prone to scratches and even dents on the sides :(

You know if you bought a iMac's magic keyboard and a magic trackpad separately and connect them to the iPad Pro, it will still be cheaper than the iPad Pro's magic keyboard and you get a much better experience because you are not constrained by the screen to keyboard distance and those accessories are full sized. Do a comparison video on that and differentiate yourself from the other tech reviewers.
Honestly after trying to use a 1st gen ipad air, as a laptop back in 2013 for college, the only thing that would really truly make an ipad really feel like a computer would be to remove the limit to the number apps on a single screen (without using folders) and to be able to place them wherever you want instead of in a grid.
Don’t go to the store because.... well, they’re closed. If they were open, wear gloves if you insist on testing it prior to purchase. Apple has a 2 week return policy. Just putting that out there.

The editing in Lumafusion can also be done precisely with just the Keyboard Folio. I get your point, but you can also use the arrow keys to move frame by frame.
The iPad Pro with the keyboard is the ultimate media consumption device. If you check messages, FB, Twitter, etc. and watch videos, music and movies, surf the internet, there is no better device. The keyboard with the backlighting and trackpad makes the typing aspect of the device perfect. You are not going to get away with running a business with one of these, IMO, but if you are a heavy duty, business, computer user or gamer, you can easily get away with a tablet nowadays and the Apple devices are the best out there.
I own the magic keyboard at the moment but I’m thinking of also buying the smart folio case cuz it can flip all the way back and maybe instead of buying the smart folio case i can buy another magic keyboard to keep stored so when the first one gets damaged i can use the other as backup. What do you guys think and advice me to do?
I wouldn’t buy the Apple Smart Folio, it’s way too expensive. Better buy something like the Moko case ($24 or so on Amazon). I use a Moko for more than a year with my IPad 2018 12,9 and I’m very happy with it. A second magic keyboard as a backup seems foolish to me. In a year or so Apple launches a new iPad which needs a new magic keyboard because this good old magic friend might not fit the new iPad anymore. So what I’m going to do is buy the Magic Keyboard and keep my Moko as well to flip it all the way back when I’m drawing in Procreate.
I’ve never had any interest in any of the keyboard cases, because I love using my devices without any added bulk. I had bought the second generation Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, along with travel cases for both, thinking it would be the best of both worlds - I could carry my iPad without a case and just throw the keyboard and mouse into my backpack when I knew I’d need it. This didn’t work very well, though, as I never seemed to have my keyboard when I needed it. For some reason, this IPad Magic Keyboard sucked me in, though. I found one earlier this week at a local Target and decided to give it a try. Figured I’d keep my other accessories for awhile to see if I would like it. I knew immediately after connecting my iPad that I’d never use those other accessories, or either of the stands I’d bought, again. This thing really is Magic. Thanks for the great video, totally agree with you.
Are you finding any laxity in the second hinge? With mine if I’m lying on my back and angle it up on my chest to to type (Or bend my knees up and rest it on them) then the screen won’t stay at full extension and tilts forwards quite significantly. It’s annoying because this action is something that is specifically done in one of the iPad adverts. (I’m using the 12.9” version btw.)

I was sold on the keyboard until I found out it doesn’t let you lay the iPad flat for just using the Apple Pencil to take notes or draw.

I’ve never had any interest in any of the keyboard cases, because I love using my devices without any added bulk. I had bought the second generation Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, along with travel cases for both, thinking it would be the best of both worlds - I could carry my iPad without a case and just throw the keyboard and mouse into my backpack when I knew I’d need it. This didn’t work very well, though, as I never seemed to have my keyboard when I needed it. For some reason, this IPad Magic Keyboard sucked me in, though. I found one earlier this week at a local Target and decided to give it a try. Figured I’d keep my other accessories for awhile to see if I would like it. I knew immediately after connecting my iPad that I’d never use those other accessories, or either of the stands I’d bought, again. This thing really is Magic. Thanks for the great video, totally agree with you.

Are you finding any laxity in the second hinge? With mine if I’m lying on my back and angle it up on my chest to to type (Or bend my knees up and rest it on them) then the screen won’t stay at full extension and tilts forwards quite significantly. It’s annoying because this action is something that is specifically done in one of the iPad adverts. (I’m using the 12.9” version btw.)
I haven’t seen that happen, but maybe it’s a 12.9 thing?
The Everyday Dad Yeah could be, I'm trying to work out if it's normal for it or if I have a slightly duff one. I've only had it a few days, I'm not sure it was doing this when I forget got it 🤷♂️

The keyboard is awesome, better than my MacBook Pro. The trackpad was the game changer for me from a productivity perspective.

@@TheEverydayDad yeah, you are absolutely right. It is a new keyboard for Ipad from Logitech. It costs about 150 dollars for Ipad with 10,5 inch display. It has trackpad and backlit keys.

The nice thing with the keyboard since it has usb c is I just use the normal Apple dongles. I don’t need a huge fancy one.

The Everyday Dad yeah its crazy this is the norm now , but im in the process of upgrading from a 7th gen to an an ipad pro with magic keybord and i cant settle on size and it sucks not being able to go to the store and see it i can always return if i order it but these shipping times are brutal right now
