I am either stupid or unlucky. None of the pages shown in the video are available on my Open Office 4.1.7, the latest version. Is Open Office Writer a different program? I am really confused by instructions that do not match what I see available. If Open Office Writer is different, how to I get it? If it is part of Open Office 4.1.7, how is it accessed?
Less than 30 seconds in, and problem solved. If I didn't know better, I'd still be fucking with Microsoft 365 bullshit. Thank you my man! You have my gratitude!!
Thanks helped me out, i did have to reverse page orientation on my printer settings and only had one choice which was envelope setting, oh well, worked nicely after a little improvising and this helped thanks!
I am dabbling with the idea of printing my own wedding invitation envelopes and I am wondering if you have any suggestions on how to populate from the database in the case of two addressees. But of course this would be the exception... Example, most people I am inviting are married, but for single guests who live with their S.O., it is customary to use two lines for the names.... The only work around I can think of is to create 2 spreadsheets, one for single line and one for double, separating the task so I can do the database template for each separately... What do you think?
Thank you for taking the time to explain but this did not work for me. I have a brand new HP18 all-in-one (windows 8.1) & a HP CP1215 laser jet printer. I am not offered any of the print options I would expect. Everything works until the bit about Printer Settings. Yes you can choose envelope but there is no option as to what size.........very frustrated
Hmmm... this is a VERY old video so it's likely the software has changed. Send the question to cat5.tv/ask and tune in to that show and we'll try to help!!
i have an HP Envy 7858 and when I set the printer properties to a #10 envelop it is changing it to a C5 somehow and won't print because the envelop is too small for the C5 designation. Anyone else have this problem? thanks brian
Thanks, Robbie. Helpful video. I should be able to export addresses from my Google contacts and then import them into OpenOffice calc in order to create the database you described. Let's see...
I tried this with Windows 10 and an HP printer- followed every direction- set it to #10 envelope but when I try to print on an envelope the envelopes go through without printing and it prints on the regular paper under the envelopes. If I put in more envelopes, a few go through without printing and then it says I'm out of paper. What's the deal? The instructions were simple enough.
Thank you, I have tried everything, could not figure out why part of my senders address was cut off. Watched your video and never noticed the tabs above to set the size of the envelope, always set it in the printer alone. Your video made me open my eyes ..... Thank you.
Argh !! Spent an hour trying to do this before googling and finding this video. Worst part is, all I really needed to know what about that silly "envelope" option. Ha ! Thanks !
:) No problem. Glad you like it. We do tutorials like this regularly; you might enjoy my show, which is available online for free at our web site (see the ticker during the video).
Thank you for this video, but it still doesn't help me print a #10 envelope, in FILE >Printer there is no box to click for envelope, only letter. So its still cutting the addressee's address off. I hate computers
Thanks a lot for the guide. I have a problem though, maybe someone can help. When I import the database, fields with only numbers (US Zip Codes) show up blank. I tried formatting the cells and it doesn't work. Anybody have a solution?
11 years later, and still works. Thank you! Life changing.
Cant tell you how much this has helped me. Thank you. I hope U TUBE never takes this down.
Thanks heaps, I have spent days trying to figure out databases to print envelopes. Worked first time.
Many thanks! I spent 2 days trying to figure it out. I thought I was following the "HELP" instruction-but can't get it right. Saved me a lot of time.
Make that 13 years later and it still works.
Thanks for this, printing envelopes for me has been the bane of my life until this excellent video.

Can't get it to line up correctly on envelope Tried both landscape and portrait.
Very easy to follow, however, I don't know what size works for 9 x 12. Tried to do custom, but that didn't work right. Also, how do you insert a logo?
First rate instructional, clear and straight forward. Many thanks
very helpful thank you, just printed 50 envelopes in no time :-)
Thank you so much ! You saved me a bundle of time - It is easier to see it done than to read it. :)

Excellent instructions. Worked perfectly. It took a couple of tries to get it all set up but printed 125 envelopes from a spread sheet. Many thanks
