THE ANIMATION.
This animatic is so amazing and underloved to the point it hurts. So few comments, This was made in 2016 and the artist has improved.
The animation is SO smooth.
You see, true fools would think that they only look cute in their humanoid forms.
I love every single appearance that these two take on and would not be upset to be crushed by them and their love.
It's amazing how much emotion we see out of the flesh dragon, especially after it's fully transformed.
This is an absolutely delightful interpretation of one of my favorite Lemon Demon songs. I like him slowly losing control of his glamour. It adds a lot to the final reveal of his true form.
I think his final form was revealed in 2 separate frames in different points through the animation before the full reveal.
I caught some references to other Lemon Demon and Neil Cicierega works and I just wanna point them out.
-The billboard at about 1:06 says "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" and do I even have to explain this one?
-The people wear triangle masks trying to sacrifice a goat a worshipping a lemon demon!
-The house has lots of references, let's start left to right. On the right we see the puppets of Harry Potter and Dumbledore from Potter Puppet Pals which references Potter Puppet Pals, a series Neil worked on.
-The mask is a reference to the song "A Mask of My Own Face"
-I'm not sure about the first poster or the rabbit, but I wanna say the rabbit references Eighth Wonder....
-The second poster is 100% a nod to Spirit Phone, no doubt.
-The figure I am not sure about.
-In the piles of dirt on the right we see a keyboard, this one is obvious since Neil can play the keyboard.
-The Shrek is a nod to the Mouth Trilogy (Mouth Sounds, Mouth Silence, and Mouth Moods) which heavily involved Smash Mouth
-The Pee Wee Herman is most likely a reference to Neil's music video for Aaron
-In the back room we see a photo of the dinosaur from Dinosaurchestra
-In the corner, we see a box labeled "Food" which is also most likely a reference to Toy Food
-On the desk we see a View Monster!
-I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the computer is a reference to Windows 95 Tips, Tricks, and Tweaks it's probably not though.
-I'm gonna go out on another limb and say the news saying "Geomagnetic storm" is a reference to Redesign Your Logo
-The final thing I caught was Neil's final form, as we all know Neil can turn into a bat demon anytime he wants, he just doesn't do it on camera.

3:53 oh, now this, this is beautiful.
The way that you can see that she kind of goes “you know what? I _do_ kind of want this” and accepting it, and the way that after she transforms she pulls down one of her ears to make it look like her hair and she looks at it so satisfactorily, and how she looks at the other eldritch beings with an expression that doesn’t say she’s scared of them, but moreso scared if she’ll be as good as them, all the minor details it’s just...MAN, that’s a good part.
There's a battle with the sort of "angelic" creatures earlier and she receives a text asking "where are you," so it's implied she was a "monster" all along and was pretending to be human to get away from the battle, same as the Neil character, whose human form still had some affiliation with his demon form given where he lived became a cult center.
the only problem i have with the part is that the animation was way to fast.

So if I got this straight, there's two teams: Horrific Eldritch Body Horror Demons and Horrific Eldritch Glowy Space Angels, of which Neilethotep is the former and his love interest (I didn't see her name anywhere, sorry) is the latter.
She ran, not because she was afraid of what "Neil" truly was, but because of his rank as some kind of greater demon (full on wings, multilimbs, tentacles, three eyes, split jaw, spatial distortion) rather than just a lower ranking (with just the neck, ears, eyes and tail thing). And it wasn't that she was scared but that she initially panicked since not only was he an enemy force, but he was also a very powerful one. After rationalizing that to herself behind the wall, the prospect of their... future, secret love(?) that she would try to continue later excited her, before returning to her true form and rejoining her Horrific Eldritch Glowy Space Angel squad.
Thank you for your very thorough comment, I already knew some parts, but wow, I never knew there were two competing races of spacebeings here. It adds another level of emotion to the yearning here

Now _this_ is an example of a good Lemon Demon animation. A song that I love with all my heart, and brings back pleasant Christmas memories, animated amazingly by a talented individual, and featuring some of the most inspirational people I've ever discovered. Plus, the concept of this is extremely unique, and I absolutely love it.

C F I think I figured it out. Remember he news report “Several hostile worlds declare war on each other with Earth as a battlefield.” Their worlds were at war. That must be why she doesn’t freak out until he reveals his full form. She’s used to seeing strange creatures but that specific creature was the enemy. Since she received a text earlier, most likely from one of her friends we see later, asking where she was I think it’s pretty clear that she wasn’t supposed to be there when the fighting broke out, and instead of evacuating was, unknowingly, fraternizing with the enemy. Who knows what consequences that she could face if her friends knew?
