This is one of my favorite shows. I binged this week end and saw episodes I hadn't seen. I hate that Marlon was written off but glad Dwayne is back.

I am very sad that Neville and Florence are leaving, I loved them very much. I'm happy Dwane is back. I would like to see Florence and Neville again soon, at least as guests. I adore this series. It's nice to see that the French and the English can work together on films. In my opinion, they make the best series and films in Europe. It is always painful for me to watch the parting with my favorite characters from my favorite series, Big fan from Croatia.
Every inspector who was picked had something quirky about them. Keep up with the quirk and whomever is picked will work. This is one reason "this American" - "me" has watched this show for years!

I love this show since the first season. In France, we can see it each year for the season on a public channel and in English it’s a true delight to listen to all the accents from british, caribbean to french. There is something so british i love in that show as with doctor who. It’s a pure treat to me.

Couldn’t get used to RL when he was introduced. Mainly due to a daft script his character was landed with , what with that allergy and so on.
In that last series, it was noticeable that RL had lost some weight as well.
Jodie Whittaker... would destroy the rating for the show.
First step: replace the writers of the past few seasons. The crime solving portion has steeply declined from what viewers expected in the early years.

Ralph can be replaced but nobody can ever replace Josephine Jobert ? It’s been tried and failed !
Too right. It was always Josephine for me.
For me, Josephine was there purely as decoration. I can't recall any real acting she did. Sara Martins, on the other hand, was really into acting the part. Huge difference between both of them. As for the others, not one of them, in my opinion, will fit the part.
@@johnwilson5637 I too like Sarah martins and almost quit watching after she left but Josephine can hold her own as an actress as seen in French tv “ Foudre” , “ Pension “ , also “ The Cut “. But Josephine’s natural beauty cannot be denied . The ratings with her were higher than any other time in the show. That’s why they keep bringing her back. Love Sarah but don’t diss Josephine , the most beautiful actress in film today. Do much so, she’s under consideration to be the next Bond girl. Looks like 24 people so far agree with me.
Why do people say Jodie stuffed Dr Who. I think that was down to the script writers. She just played the role
I don’t know why people are giving Ralf Little no love. I actually think he’s one of the best. I’ve liked them all, btw. He reminded me of Ben Miller from the point of being fastidious and things being just so. He didn’t like sand getting everywhere either. 😂
Of course, would love to see David Tenant take on this kind of role but he’s probably too busy with his other gigs. I don’t watch Bad Omens but that might be a conflict. I think it should be another male actor only because there seems like there would be an imbalance if there’s another female character. Dwayne wouldn’t know what to do with himself 😂.

Okay, it has been announced, Eastenders (Lucas Johnson) Don Gilet will be replacing Ralf, he'll be playing DI Mervin Wilson, and will make his debut in the Christmas day episode.

Wow, finding an actor to play a new DI on DiP has really turned into like looking for the next James Bond now, lots of actors names get put forwards for consideration, and then it's some times some one who wasn't even on the list gets the part.

Found death in paradise by accident, since the I been glued to it every niht, Just boxed it from series one. Best thin on tv for me,
with the exception of International rugby. So many other good program's I would like to watch but all seem to be covered by loud music, great shame

the guys from NEW BLOOD .Ben Tavassoli or Mark Strepan they both would be great for this role .. Martin Compston, Mark Bonnar , Jamie Sives orJulian Looman from Mallorca files ... there are many options but no woman please... and I am saying this as a woman myself...

It is a woman for the first time but personally don’t know who. Not Jodi Whittaker. Would have loved for Florence to be new DI but the DI has always been English. Is Dwayne back for good now that his father is dying?

What is it with actors that they can't stick with a role for more than a handful of episodes? I get it that there's a lot of travel involved, but come on. They are professional actors, they have been given a job, be grateful you're working, and stick to it like the rest of us.
Maybe it's not their decision! Producers normally make these decisions, not actors!

What about Peter Davidson ( doctor who ) just been in an episode of beyond Paradise , and has already been a detective in series THE LAST DETECTIVE. i think he would make a good replacement.
Martin Clunes would be a fair choice. He has form in the Manhunt series, and it would be interesting to transplant a real character into the series

I think that maybe Alan Davies or even Ade Edmondson should get the job. I have never liked Romesh Ranganathan he isn't even acquainted with the idea of being funny. I agree that Jodie Whittaker would ruin it. Dobby the house elf would be a better option than any of these people.

I liked Richard, Jack and Nevil. Didn’t like Humphrey for some reason. I may stop watching after all these years. I gave up Murdoch Mysteries after season 12, I can stop DIP, too.
I am surprised that the DI has never been a Black man, given the DEI casting pressures in UK movie and TV productions for years now and in set in a majority Black place. Perhaps this show, while still entertaining, has 'jumped the shark', and just become too silly. The ex-criminal a cop ? Yea, sure. It also has the same overused troups of police detective shows of a quirky lead, an exceptionally attractive female, good looking male assistants, too often distorts the law and rights, last minute a-hah evidence and the 'clue' like scenes where the murderer is disclosed. They also seem to have a murder rate worse than a bad US city on a summer weekend.
Personally I think Matt Smith would be amazing as a DI in death in paradise
I don't care as long as it's not Jodie Whittaker anybody but Jodie Whittaker. I don't care if it's a Dalek from Doctor Who or a cardboard cutout of anyone as long as it's not Jodie Whittaker! She would literally be the death of that show!
I expect it will be woke to tick bbc boxes, if so I won’t watch it again. It took me ages to get used to RL now he is going maybe the show has run its course or if woke comes in that will finish it anyway.

Anybody except Jodie Whittaker and Romesh Ranganathan. The last thing Death in Paradise needs are woke actors who failed miserably in their last TV efforts. Death In Paradise is prime time TV and should not be used to resurrect the ashes of failed careers. I'd rather see a newby in the role than some woke actor trying too hard to right previous mistakes.
It really was the Dreadful Scripts & directing more than Whittakers inability to get into the Doctor Character. Dr.Who had a truly poor director, script writer & producer during Wittakers tenure as the Doctor. They tried to tick ALL the boxes turning the Doctor 1st Bi-sexual, then into Lesbian & at one time into a Black butch lesbian. They couldn't even get the the shows internal history right.

……loved Ben Miller, who’s now in ‘Professor T’. Watched Ardal O’Hanlon, but didn’t view the other two actors’ series’. The last one with the stupid allergy, was so annoying, & a turn-off from me………

There’s no logic to your argument, especially given that actual police inspectors in the 21st century aren’t exclusively straight white men anymore.

Why not just appoint one from "Saint Marie", it would make more sense.

Know women in the lead in Death in paradise women ruin rolls that have previous had men in the lead . I have watched Death in paradise from the beginning but if a women get the main part detective Nevill parker has left wont be watching it any more to many women are taking over rolls previously played by men and are crap at it .
