Thank you for the videos you post, Cody. I appreciate your clear instructions and the reasons you give as to why you do things the way you do. Nice film work too!
I am clear at last how to START sewing! There are no classes where I live, and when I brought my new 570 home I couldn't find anywhere how to get the bobbin thread up. Thanks for a basic but essential bit of information! I'd been trying to do it manually like on my old Necchi....
Oh my gosh!! You are a fantastic teacher, enlightener, whatever you call someone with skills who can convey themselves.. I have owned my 750 forever but have been so intimidated to try the B.S R. Now I think I can use it with ease..Thank you so much for your video!! Please continue with such great info!!
Wonderful happy to hear it. I have always loved the BSR ever since it came out and as the machines advance so does the BSR it has come a long way. Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
Thank you so much Cody. I've been to a shop to see how this works and came out still not understanding it. I've been undecided about buying the 770QE because I have already made a huge mistake with buying another machine 4 years ago and it's taken me this long to save enough money to replace it. Thanks to your videos I have decided to go ahead and buy it. Wish me luck! I shall be watching your videos a lot when I get it as you explain things so well and are nice and relaxed about it. Best wishes to you and Pete, Tracey.
I know this may be a silly question but, can you use the stitch regulator without using the stitch regulation, Like using a manual mode on a long arm, Looking for a reason to be able to use the feet without stitch regulation. PS. Love, Love, Love your videos.
Thanks for the demo and information. I just took a "test drive" on the 770 and the BSR and saw that the stitches were NOT uniform in length. Lots of "excuses" like could the the thread or the bobbin or the needle...but it's advertised that there is perfect stitch consistent quality and my first encounter was not so. What was I doing wrong?
Hi Cody. Do you use any kind of slider with the BSR? I just started quilting with the 475 QE and it seems to have a slight drag. Thanks so much for all you do. If I lived in LA I would definitely use your shop.
I honestly don't use a slider like the "supreme slider" they help a little but personally I don't see a significant difference. There are some polishes that are sold that help significantly and they are much less. You just simply wipe down the table that you're using and it allows your fabric to slide very nicely. There is one from the same company as the Sew Steady Tables, I can't think of the name though.
@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 thanks. I'll dig into it. Does your shop provide online sales? I feel guilty for using all of your videos and would certainly order from you if possible.
I have a question but it isn’t about the BSR. I have a 790 and when i embroider it sometimes cuts the thread really short and unthreads the needle. It usually does this when the foot moves from the design and then back. Anything i can do in the machine programming to correct this? Thanks in advance
Thank you Cody! I just picked up my new 790 yesterday. I have my BSR on, and I am finishing a free motion quilt that has two layers of wool batting. Cotton on top and bottom layer. I’m having difficulty moving the fabric and switching to the straight stitch. I press the straight stitch icon and the zig zag still shows on the display. My feed dogs are down. Any advice?
When working with thick batting you can decrease the presser foot pressure. You can decrease it so low “in the negative “ and it will actually raise the hight of your foot up higher wheel while sewing. As for your machine only stitching with a zig zag while using the BSR the only thing I can think of is maybe you do have the straight stitch selected but by accident changed the stitch with. Hope this helps 😀
@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 thank you so much Cody! I love your videos please keep them coming! Do you have any on the Viking Epic 2 as well?? Have a sew wonderful day!
This is a great demo! I just bought an 820 and i am SO excited coming from an old singer simple. This is one of the main reasons i went with Bernina because although i LOVE the look of free motion quilting, i can never get my hands and feet to get on the same wavelength lol. My question to you now is: What is the benefit of the needle continuing to stitch (mode 1) vs having it pause (mode 2)? Personally, i feel like i will have to stop and look around a lot at first, so i feel like i might want it to pause completely. What do you think?
@@whitcassie I think that’s great. I’m paying for other things right now, so I got the Bernette. I actually have 4 of them: b44, b38, b77, and b79. I got them at different times. They work very well and I am happy with them now. However, I want to move on in my sewing journey. I’m planning to work with them for a few years and then move up to a bernina 790 plus or 880 plus. I had singers all my life, but these machines are the real stars. Singer just couldn’t complete anymore with the computerized technology. It’s too bad. I grew up near a singer store and I have wonderful memories of riding my bike on Saturday mornings to take my sewing lessons. I loved those machines in those days. But, memories are just the past. I can’t make choices of what was, for what Is today.
I can also say after using it for a year that there aren't really benefits to either, it's just personal preference. Since i have to look around and see what I'm doing a lot, i end up just stopping instead of pausing so the needle drops and nothing slides around so it didn't really matter which mode I'm on
I have watched several videos on the BSR. This one is the most concise and helpful. Thank you!
Wonderful. I’m glad you got some good information out of it 😊😊

This is the best video on BSR I’ve come across especially the tips on why bsr 1 vs 2. Made me subscribe!

Love the Tesla logo 😊, because this is the Tesla of sewing machines.

I think it’s the Bentley of sewing machines
Thank you again. So helpful.
Thanks for the video - it's been a long time since I did the classes for my machine and I live in rural Germany so this was super helpful!

Evie, I had the same experience and the presser foot doesn't seem to lower close enough to the fabric.
