The Muehlenbeckia complexa is also known by many other names, including: Maiden hair vine , Maidenhair vine, and Angel vine topiary . Consequently, this video is also about the Maiden hair vine care , or maidenhair vine care , as well as the Angel vine topiary care . I hope this video on Muehlenbeckia complexa care is helpful and let me know if you have any questions :)
Love this! I just got a baby maidenhair vine plant named sienna. I’ve been looking for tips and tricks to best take care of her. Thanks for your note on the humidity and direct sunlight. I have her in a bay window that receives a lot of sun, so I will move her to a different location. Thank you! ☺️🌱
Hi Ashley! Aw congratulations on getting Sienna (great name by the way :))! I am so happy you found the video useful, and let me know how your baby maidenhair vine does ! Sending a big hug :)
❤I love your video! It’s true that, it’s so important to remember to connect with our 🌱 plants. I love when you say you meditate with them :) ❤
I moved to finland this year. I got a muehlenbeckia from a plant store after asking them for a plant that can survive a finnish winter. They told me it only needs 4 hours of sun a day and it will be happy and I was told to keep the soil moist. I have been watering it every 3 days and have it on my kitchen counter where it gets some sun and indoor lighting but not too much. In the winter finland has only 5 hours of daylight a day and often its cloudy daylight, but the plant has survived so far and even grown a lot.
It is so hard to find info on the muehlenbeckias, so was glad to discover your channel! I found a variegated one on eBay that's really pretty too, but my very favorite is the triloba variety, it has leaves that are fiddle shaped! Found it at a local nursery here I Michigan!

What a great practice of meditation and connection to our plants!
I love what you say about meditating with your plant! I just got one of these babies, I really hope I can make her happy. I love your videos!
Aww I loved this comment ♥️♥️ sending lots of positive energy to you and your new Maidenhair vine 🥰🌿!
This plant is so beautiful, I will pick one up really soon. Great information and enthusiasm (oh, and you’re crazy pretty!) Subscribed 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! Yes! I love this plant for sure ♥️🌿🌿 did you find one for your place?
So happy you liked the video and that you are part of this community!! Sending lots of positive energy to you ♥️🌿☺️
I bought my maidenhair plant on March 20th, it’s April 26th now and it’s about quadrupled in size. It’s been thriving sitting on my south facing kitchen window, watered about 2 or 3 times a week but not too much water. I repotted it exactly 1 month after I got it (since roots were growing through the bottom quite a bit) it did not take any time off from shock of repotting, I still saw new growth the next day. I did find out that it is not happy when left without water for more than a week, you will lose many leaves but it can possibly be revived with a good dose and to be left alone. I wish I could post a picture on here but this plant is growing beyond what I could imagine in this short amount of time!
Hiii! That is so amazing 🥰🌿! Thank you for sharing ♥️ maybe you can send a picture on Instagram (if you have an account)? Would love to see it!
Sending lots of love to you and your Maidenhair plant ♥️♥️♥️💐
I love the tip!
Thank you! I will make sure to add these, as they really help to connect with our plants, in my experience :) Sending a big hug !
I just got one of these babies for a mini terrarium I'll be creating. I wasn't sure it would be a good idea but after watching your video I think it will be a nice environment for her. Thank you! 💚
Yes! Let me know how it goes with the terrarium ☺️♥️🌿
@@PlantsandLucia this plant did not work as a terrarium plant for me. I tried to create one with materials from the nature around me and unfortunately a beautiful piece of a old dead root started to mould so I'm not sure if that is why the plant died or if it just was the environment in the glass container. Another plant in there is doing fine though 🌱
Descubrí tu canal y me encanta!
Thanks to you I've just discovered why mine is actualy dying 😱 ! I read somewhere that I had to water it every 10 days ... Poor beauty was thirsty and so dry ! It lost most of its leafs ! I'm crossing my fingers for it to recover 🤞🤞🤞 thanks again 🤗
So happy to read this ! Let me know how it goes 😊💚
I had the same problem! Now I understand to treat the same as ferns she is growing well. Lots of water , a growlight and mist regularly. I use a special misting spray that has fertiliser in it which all my ferns love…
I found one for 3.99 in my local Grocery Oulet yesterday! I’m going to grab like 3 more today lol . Love this video by the way
Me too.
I picked one up Sunday❤️
I have mine hanging in my North facing window.
I just got a small one from a friend. Her plant is grown outdoors year round( in Oregon, U.S.) it's huge!
She currently resides on my E. Facing deck. She gets bright cooler a.m. sun, shaded but dappled sun rest of day. I keep soil moist. I TOP dressed with worm castings.
Thank you so much, Lucia!! I purchased one of these (I believe what I have is the same - it says Angel Vine on my tag) and it is in the shape of a small topiary. She was doing really well then I looked at her one day and she was all dried out!! So I'm hoping I can tend her back to thriving. I'm really happy I found you!!
Hii! Thank you so much for your comment 🥰! And it is my absolute pleasure making these videos for you guys ♥️♥️
Yes, in my experience, the maidenhair vine is a pretty particular plant, and it also would dry out with us sometimes! So I started checking the soil more often to give her the right amount of water and I have placed her with other tropical plants and a humidifier now in the winter, since this one enjoys humidity ☺️! It's been a journey trying to understand her but once you find the way, there is a great feeling that comes with it!♥️
Let me know how it goes with you, and if you have any questions ♥️, sending lots of positive energy to you and your Muehlenbeckia Complexa (haha I love that it has the 'complexa' in the name, as it tends to be complex 😅)
Hope that yours recovered. Just thought I'd let others know that the angel vine can actually make a recovery after drying out! Mine dried out and was quite small, I figured it wouldn't survive. The roots were not in bad shape, and after pruning away all the death stems, new stems started blooming after about a month after I watered regularly to kept the soil moist.
@@PlantsandLucia hello, same thing happened with my plant. Should i cut the dry parts? There are green leaves trying to grow but there seems to be no place for them because it is very tangled. Thank you for the great video btw i will try these tips 🌺
I loooove this plant and finally got one... and thanx for the tips...
awww! YES ! It's such a beautiful plant ! Congrats on getting one :) I'm so happy the video is helpful, sending all positive vibes to you !
Where did u get it from?
Sería genial que también hicieras los vídeos en español por que están muy interesantes y das muchos datos geniales. Saludos
Thank you for this very cute and useful video! I have a maidenhair vine and it’s not doing so well, I cannot find the perfect spot and take care of her everyday as you suggested. I will try to move it in the bathroom and hopefully she’ll get better :)
Thank you for the tips!
I'm so happy you found it useful! Let me know how she does ♥️☺️
Sending positive energy to you!
Excellent video about this fascinating plant and your way of describing is very informational. My Complexa plant is in the garden as the seller told us we can put them in the garden. You mentioned the plant won't be happy with temperatures below 15 and here in Austria we certainly do have lower temperatures. Is there maybe another type of Muehleenbeckia which fits the outdoor?
I have a very large wire vine plant in my garden for about 3 yrs. I'd like to divide it and put some near the base of my roses to stop weed growth. Have you ever tried to do this, any suggestions? I'm going to get some cuttings as well, but just curious if it's worth the attempt to get a few splits off there with established roots.
Hei Lucia. Could you give me an advice - my plant dryd out and it has some new leaves comming out, but they seem not that strong and are goin down after some few days. Maybe i should trimm it till the ground and see if it grows from very start again?
I have had this plant outside in the all year round in s pot around a tree hanging over the edge. The ice storm killed the tree but the plant lived & is still growing like crazy. Been in the pot for over 3 years.
Do I have a super plant????
Gracias por este video. Me ayudo mucho. Saludos :)
Es un placer! Que bueno que ayudó 💚 Aquí estoy para cualquier prengunta :-)
I've had one for about two weeks and she seemed to be doing fine but today I held her and many leaves fell and now she is not as full as before, I have her in a place with a ot of sunlight but it's not direct at all, also today I watered it because the leaves were like dropping but not dry and she went back to normal, until the leaves fell of course. Is it normal??
Yes! This happened to me as well.. They needs lots of water for sure.. How is she doing now?
I have one outside with about three hours of direct noon sunlight, I water spray every other day. The leaves on the vine are more tolerate than the maidenhair fern
I got my maiden hair vein on Saturday. The soil was moist and on Tuesday the soil was dry, therefore I watered. On Wednesday she is completely bald. I’m not sure what happened or if this is normal. I had her in a medium light setting. I’m not sure what to do to revive this plant. Any suggestions?
Try keeping her soil slightly moist at all times (not too moist). Don’t let it dry out in between waterings like with other plants.
I find this is the case with some vining/ trailing species. They don’t have big chunky roots like other types of plants, so they can get shocked easily.
I keep mine in my fireplace with all my ferns and give her the same care as the ferns. Finally she is thriving!
Hi, I have a beautiful one on my desk, I went away for a week and she's completely dried up and crispy? Is it too late to revive her?
Hope your plant is okay.. if she only has leaves at the ends I would try taking a cutting and put in in water to re root.. there are videos on how to propagate this plant
Branches of my maidenhair vine that I just bought are very tangled. I am wondering if I should regulate the branches manually. And other side of the leaves are not green. They have a color like brown. I am also wonderig if it is another kind. Thanks in advance, your channel is very helpful.🙋
Hi! Oh that's a very good question... Do you by any chance have Instagram? Maybe you can send me a picture there and we can figure it out together 🌿🌿❤️
These plants do become tangled but they can be trained as climbers, over rocks or just used as ground cover. Do a google search.
did anyone keep it at home in winter with more than 15 degree ?
Do you know why they could be getting yellow leaves? I have mine in a northwestern window and water once a week but the lower leaves are getting yellow and falling off
Hmm I’m guessing is the location now it gets too little sunlight ? Am I right ?
@@PlantsandLucia yeah, actually I already moved it to the southern window, which has not so much sun either because the weather is already bad here in Germany haha
Love ur videos!! Can u please share where you buy your plants ? The online ones ofc lol thanks
Hiii! Thank you so much for your comment 🥰🌿 at the moment, I buy my plants from local nurseries! But I will start doing research on online plant shopping and maybe make a video about this 🥰🌿
Where do you usually buy yours?
Sorry for the late reply !! I usually buy from Amazon Home Depot and they come pretty healthy and super affordable! Thanks for responding 😁😁😁💚
I'd like to know how to grow this plant from clippings. Any tips?
This is a great question! I have not try it yet, but will add it to the list and see how we can do it to make a video for you guys 🥰♥️🌿
I just bought one two weeks ago and now it’s dried!! 😭 anyway I can save her?
Happened to me too cut off all the dried stems and keep watering her I found out that this plant loves water and needs it regularly like every few days now mine is grown again in such short time
Me gustaría escuchar este video en espía
Ohh, necesito esta información en español. Por favor 🙏
Hola! Estoy pensando hacer un canal en español o por lo menos empezar un podcast que sea sobre plantas, te gustaría algo asi? :-)
The information given is incorrect. This plant species comes from NZ. It can handle low temperatures. It is used as an house plant but should be grown outside..
Shall we eat it
It’s not a she. It’s an it.
