      Tks for the video! do u have pics of your charcoal? (what kind of charcoals, activated charcoals? or a link to get them) but not all plants like Humidity, maybe for your next video , you could introduce to us which plants dislike high humidity, and which are those that love humidity?

    Hola Lucia. I just bought a birds of paradise about a month ago. I left it in same plastic pot it came with. I did buy a concrete pot to put my plant in. I really love this plant and wish to never kill it 😅 do you think it's a good idea to put gravel inside the concrete pot and add water to in then place the birds of paradise on top? Does this make sense? Is concrete the same as terra cotta pots? Thanks! ❤

      MageTezzos first , congratulations on getting your monstera ☺️🌿! For your question: I’d say it depends.. is the air in your home really dry ? With the monstera, I’d recommend instead, misting the leaves and aerial roots every day. This will help you keep your plant hydrated and increase humidity a little bit more 🙃🌿

      Hi! I usually keep them on the humidity tray for as long as they need (more in the winter months).. Dracaenas are very strong plants, but it’s always good to provide some humidity, especially in winter when the air becomes more dry (but it also depends on where you live of course😉) you can find a video on how to increase humidity here : ruclips.net/video/nyQ84YXMibw/видео.html

    I have a quick question honey... I have a calathea ornata and it’s in a plastic pot with drainage holes, that then sits in a ceramic pot. I bought a humidifier which I use all the time but I’m starting to notice yellowing of some leaves. I’m going to try a humidity tray but can I sit my plant on it which is in the ceramic pot? Or do I have to lift the plant out of the ceramic pot and put it on the tray? I hope you understand my question it’s a little confusing I know lol

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  4 года назад

      Hi! You can leave the plant in the ceramic pot :) we want to make sure the plant is not sitting in water, so that'd be fine.
      Yellowing of the leaves generally has more to do with watering though.. how often do you water your plant? What kind of water do you use? What method do you use?
      Of course if the leaves are browning on the edges and drying out, this is most likely related to too much sunlight and/or lack of humidity.. Let me know :)

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  3 года назад

      Hi, this is a great question! the pot does not have to have a hole, as the humidity will go around the plant :)... You can also see more ways to increase humidity here : ruclips.net/video/3OxhBqt9roU/видео.html where I also make a mini humidity tray inside the pot ! Hope it is useful :)

    love your videos lucia! but i am a bit confused about humidity trays. do they work in rooms that are not warm/hot? i live in a fresh climate. will the humidity tray need warmth to have the water evaporate ?

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Sophi! Thanks so much for your comment, I'm so glad you like the videos ❤️
      Excellent question! Although it does help, the room doesn't have to be super warm/hot for the humidity tray to work.. Since these are not so deep (humidity trays work better when they are shallow), the water should warm up faster... I also recommend you use charcoal or gravel (the water will evaporate more easily if you use these materials)
      Let me know how it works for you 😊!! And sending lots of positive energy 💚🌼🌿💐

      @@PlantsandLucia I have doubts too. Did anyone MEASURE the effect?? Once I tried with several trays in one room. My humidity meter did not show any improvement even after being placed directly against one of the plants over 2 days. No impact on room humidity or local humidity.

      Hi! That depends on the type of pot :).. if it is terracota, you don’t have to... but plastic is not porous so it will be more difficult to get the humidity up... or a glazed pot for example will also not be very effective

    What type of put should the plant be in?

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  2 года назад +1

      Hi Christina! This depends on the plant. Some plants like to be a bit more compressed whereas others prefer a bit more space. Never use too big of a pot because this will lead to overwater. Now, in terms of material the most popular ones are plastic or terracotta. I have a video that talks about these two and pros and cons on each one so you can see which may be best for you and the plants that you have :-) You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/qbXmDmMpOjw/видео.html

    Did anyone MEASURE the effect?? Once I tried with several trays in one room. My humidity meter did not show any improvement even after being placed directly against one of the plants over 2 days. No impact on room humidity or local humidity.

    Hi! I recently found your channel & subbed! You are too cute! I’m finding your vids super helpful. Can you talk about how humidity trays work with plants out of their nursery pots AND planted in flower pots with no drainage holes? I find that some of the prettiest pots don’t have holes. Is it best practice not to buy them (I already have 3 of them😐)? I’m concerned about my Alocasia Polly (African Mask - she’s currently still in nursery pot but needs repotting), and my Prayer Plant that I JUST bought that I’m reading needs tons of humidity as well. I appreciate your help!

      Hii! Thanks so much for your comments ♥️♥️! For the humidity tray you don't need to have your plants in pots with drainage holes... As you don't want the plant to sit in the water... However, I always recommend you have pots with drainage holes, as this helps to make sure the water doesn't stay in the pot and your plant consequently sits in soaked soil (which is not good)... You can use the pots without holes as decorative pots, and then out your plant inside with another pot that has drainage holes...
      Yes! The prayer plant needs lots of humidity, you can use a humidity tray (if you find that the air in your house is dry) or mist the leaves every day or every two days :) I also have mine close to other tropical plants, I find that helps her too with humidity levels 🌷🌿☺️
      Hope this helps and let me know how it goes!

      I haven't had problems with fungus gnats and my humidity tray, but always check that you don't add organic materials (like soil, worm castings) and just stones/gravel/rocks :-) Let me know if you have any other questions 💚

    How does one know if their plant needs a humidity tray? I have a pink splash plant and it likes 50% humidity. 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  5 лет назад

      That is a beautiful plant 😍
      This is a great question! Typically plants that need lots of humidity can benefit from humidity trays. These include orchids, ferns, calatheas, and pink splash plants.. However, I think the best way to know is to observe our plants (they truly communicate with us😊). For example, I usually use a humidity tray for my calatheas only in the winter (as my house becomes dry, and I can see that it affects them - this can typically show with brown edges in the leaves for example).. So in conclusion, it is better to really try to observe them and see what they like 😊. I hope this was useful!

    Can I just know what is wrong with using a terracotta plate?

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  4 года назад

      You can use a terracota tray :) but make sure that it is glazed, because terracota is porous.. So if it is glazed you will prevent the water from going through the terracota :) Hope this is helpful!

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  4 года назад +1

      @@Daisy.florina perfect ☺️! So you should keep your plant on the humidity tray as long as she needs it... So for instance, when the air becomes drier in winter and I see some of my plants suffering from lack of humidity, I use this method with them and make sure the tray has water to evaporate and increase humidity around them during the winter (or the time we have the heating system on). Make sure the water is just below the top of the stones so your plant is not seating on water and I would also recommend to place tropical plants in one spot (close to each other) that will also help them 🌿🌴🌿🌳♥️
      Let me know if this is helpful,
      Sending lots of positive energy to you and your plant 🌿♥️

    • @PlantsandLucia

      Hi! Great question and thanks for sharing it here..! The humidity tray should be left under the plant for as long as you think the plant needs it. For example, I put some of my plants (the ones that need extra humidity) on humidity trays for the whole winter (as I notice that the air in my house gets more dry) and keep adding water to the tray as needed..
      Hope this is helpful and if you have any other question please let me know ☺️🌿♥️
