I have been saying this for a long time, Yannis is one of the few voices in this generation that can shake mountains and shame gods themselves. His voice soars, roars, and inspires. OMG mother of god. since i had not heard nightwishes version i listened to that before posting this comment. both versions are great in their own right. but i might give yannis the edge. i have never heard music like this before. as you have said it seems no one creates real music anymore like abba does. well both nightwish and yarris blows that thought out of the water . i dont believe there are any groups like this the u.s. that i know of. i want to thank you once again for exposing these bands to our ears. can u imaging writing this??? also if the lead singer of nightwish and yarris did a duet together?? would be totally awesome!!!

Yours might be an unusual intro to Nightwish. I took the wacken 2013 GLS route, but, however you got there, welcome to the Nightwish army. I trust you are now a fully paid up member of the Floor/Goddess/Valkyrie/Queen society. GLS one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Any good rendition is moving, but Floor plus GLS is just from another dimension.

Something like five octaves, I think. Sometimes people are exaggerating a bit since the important is how many notes are "usable" (quality, not just managing to reach). Anyway, it is a lot if we remember that two is common, kind of "enough". Odd in YP is that she sounds like a female soprano when hitting high notes. I like his lower notes, they are smooth and silky :)

Yes, yes and yes, the God has blessed us with this amazing cover of this amazing song. But you need to listen to the original version, which is the one with the first Nightwish singer, Tarja Turunen. His cover his clearly more inspired by her version than Floor's. Plus if you don't know, this song was written for Tarja's voice. I prefer her version to Floor's because her voice has more color and depths in my opinion, although Floor's definitely has great vocal habilities. But Tarja's is the one true original version. Also, you should watch Nightwish's Pahntom of the Opera with Tarja, it's a gift from heaven that will for sure surprise you.

Tarja is a natural in this operatic register and Floor isn't. It's already impressive that she managed that well the whole song. Yannis has technic and uses his own vocal capacities to add the colors and richness. As a trained musician I am more sensitive to the richness of the tone than just hitting the notes. That's why for this song I prefer Yannis and Tarja's versions.
Sorry,sorry,sorry, I disagree. Tarja’s is a beautiful rendition, and the original. I love hearing it and return to it often. BUT, for me Floor has made it her own, and her own ending f what is already a very emotional song just takes me in a way Tarja can’t.
If you're comparing it to the Wacken performance, there is no equal, so the answer to your question is NO YOU CANNOT! But given that music is subjective to the ear of the beholder, if by chance you do, my condolences.

Had it not been such a complex musical orchestration he took on, there might be an even playing field. The fact you cannot tell if you like a copy over an original, like I said, Music is Subjective. ☮
