Of all the cars that raced at Lemans, I personally think the Toyota GT One was one of the most beautiful. I was a Porsche mark since day one, the 935-962, then I went to a race in person and saw the C-11. I saw the Mazdas, the Jag XJR14, all of them. results aside, I still love the GT One. Cool car. BTW, the BRM was awesome too. Cannot wait to see what Porsche brings in 2014.
Not only do you have to be quick, you have to be able to last a long time. The Toyota GT ones were the quickest in its class, but reliability prevented them from winning.
R390 made a mistake in the setting of lap time aiming at development. It might not have been thought that Mercedes, Porsche, and Toyota were such fast.
@HoveringAboveMyself Yes in 98. In 99 Toyota GT-1's were quickest, taking 1st 2nd and 8th position. Toyota came really close to winning. They probably would have won if the tire didn't blow out.
I remember hating Toyota for that car... They didn't even make an attempt to make it look like a road car- they just put a roof on a prototype. It ruined GT racing...
To be fair to call any of the GT1 spec machines from 1998 GT cars would be a stretch, and, it was Porsche who started raising the stakes with the 911 Gt1 in 1996, forcing the other teams to follow suit in order to remain competitive.
Reminds me of the Mazda 787B. Not the quickest in 1991, but definitely the most reliable.

Yup loved the GT-One and the Bentley Speed 8 from 2003

@robbc18 The quickest in the class were the Mercedes Benz CLK LM, then the Toyota GT ONEs and then the 911 GT1-98

Toyota are good, but they just got too many problems!

The worst motorsport announcer ever.
