The ‘plushness’ affects the power. I added lead tape at the top edges and that helped a great deal. Brought the 8.3 weight up to 8.4 ozs. I may add a little more. Slight head heavy didn’t bother me. Definitely has great spin. It’s a good hybrid for 3.5 players. Would like some colors.
You guys are soooo fast! Loved the sweetspot comparison. I’m enjoying the J2Ti quite a bit. Will say more in my review soon! Just like my playing, though, I’m slower than you at reviews as well! Haha
Thank you for including the J2 and not just the J2k in your analysis. The J2 remains a terrific bargain that is often overlooked because of the more glamorous and expensive J2k.
I heard the titanium versions of current shapes will be coming out in the future, which really makes me wonder how a J7Ti will play? Sounds amazing to me!
I can't wait!! My 14mm J2K comes in tomorrow and I've already pre-ordered the J2Ti 😂. I've been using a J2K for months, but I'm thinking I'll switch to this
Dang, was deciding between the Flare, or the J2TI. It seems like this has the Flare beat in every way huh? Was able to get a flare from a friend for $120.. Is the price diff worth it?
I played today with the J2Ti for the first time coming from the J2K and I feel all my power is gone :( The plushness is amazing for dinking and drops, but for serves drives and smashes it feels so muted :( Will give it a week before I decide to keep it.
Nice review! When you say plush, I think of the original Joola Hyperion that set the bar for the "catch and release" feel. I played with that model forever. I've then transitioned to the 11six24 monarch, which is a wide body with an extended handle to get that similar feel, but the lower swing weight. How does the J2Ti compare to those two? Is it plush like the original hyperion but have a lower swing weight like the monarch?
That's a good question.. I think compression and plushness are relatable, amd I also factor in vibration dampening effect as part of the "plush" feel.. to be honest, it's been so long since I hit a hyperion, but I would imagine the sweet spot would carry a little better with the titanium (polyester) than in the hyperion, and it's more plush than most Kevlar or thermoformed carbon fiber paddles, so if it isn't as plush, it can't be too far off!
@@PickleballMedicine that's a great response, thanks for the insight! I've heard other reviewers use the word "plush", but they had a very different meaning. When the 6.0 Ruby came out, other reviewers said it was "plush", but when I bought it and hit it, it was anything but plush. nice paddle, but much more firm off the face. I've heard some people define plush as a "high dwell time" and more of a "catch and release" type feel where you can almost grab the ball and redirect it inside your swing. This is what the original hyperion did exceptionally well. It's only down side was the high swing weight and head heavy feel. When all the gen 2 paddles first came out, they completely abandoned this aspect in paddle feel. I think there are a set of players like myself that love this catch and release feel and can generate our own power, thus are wanting that really balanced all court paddle with exceptional feel. Based on your review and thoughtful response, I went ahead and pre-ordered it and used your code. Looking forward to more reviews like this one!
I can't wait to try the J2Ti. I love Honolulu pickleball paddles. The J2 in my opinion and play style had better feel then the J2K. I am hoping that the J2Ti plays well also. Great review as always!
It will be the next review I release, after a round-up video (summary video), and it's a power paddle that's basically the titanium version of the Thrive Azul
It looks like approval is still pending, but imagine it's a matter of time! Nothing pushing the limits of legality here, should be a pretty safe bet this will be approved barring any weird hiccups.
I don't get the stink over the Titanium or not drama. Tons of metals items are called titanium but aren't, they are actually made of titanium. Google "titanium scissors" if you don't believe me. They aren't made of titanium, they just have a titanium nitride layer on the outside. The same goes for the nylon, it has (or had) some titanium nitride to make it shiny. I think they might use other materials now to impart the shininess, but the name has stayed. Personally, I don't care what is in or not in it, I just care how it performs.
I think the issue is that the paddle companies weren't clear from the beginning that the "titanium weave" did not use actual titanium. Titanium strings usage of "titanium" have been grandfathered in but the titanium weave in pickleball paddles was a new concept at the time and no one made the distinction that these were not implement actual titanium until the paddles were in peoples' hands. Of course, performance is still the most important part of a paddle, but using "titanium" was no doubt a selling point over other technologies like kevlar and carbon fiber.
They can't sell it as "titanium" if there's no titanium in the composition. That's like selling shrimp as lobster. Someone should sue these pickleball companies for false advertising. If it's polyester they should name it that and be honest.
I'd imagine that'd be hard to do since there's "Platinum" edition Fords, etc....and even colors named after metals. Though, I'm assuming it's just some sort of Ti filler used in the polyethylene(PET, which is what Honolulu calls it). There's articles talking about TiO2/polyethylene nanocomposites which this may be related to. Just take everything with a grain of salt until someone that actually works with materials/metallurgy actually analyzes the material. Most of the pickleball channels are just speculating.
@@knieban Do I really have to explain this to you? Platnium edition is different than a paddle companie specifically targeting the surface composition as such. Hence why it's perfectly normal why there's platnium credit cards. So don't you think if Fords started to market their seats as leather but it was actually vinyl, they could get in trouble for that. And if Rubios sold Lobster burritos (actually happened) but they were using lagastino or shrimp then they could get in trouble for that and that actually happened and that's why they aren't selling lobster burritos anymore. Do I need to explain basic logic to you? "Take everything with a grain of salt" ? They are basically lying to you to misadvertise to extract more money from you. If it wasn't such a big deal, why not call it a polyester face? You should use that "grain of salt" comment for Rubios, and you know why that doesn't work? Because they actually got sued for it. If every company could manipulate like this then there would be no "false advertisement" claims in our legal system. These companies are making a lot of money manipulating your mind. Tell them to keep it up and we should live with it is ridiculous.
they probably can't if the manufacturers don't because they're all cosy with the manufacturers and don't want to get on the bad books and miss out on review pieces.
Well, that would be a strange position to be in.. I think most reviewers are under no obligation to anyone to say anything positive or use particular verbiage. My obligation is to the viewer, not the company. If a person prefers to call is polyester, you are very free to, but If another person calls it titanium... who cares, haha. I think I was clear in the review, and even in the thumbnail, about the polyester component, so I feel a demanding tone about how another person should refer to this is a bit strange.

What weight is your Paddle? Did you add any lead tape?
Appreciate the shoutout as always! I’m glad I’m not the only one who was shocked to like the Ti quite a bit more than the K
I knew it was going to look cool, but super surprised at how well it felt!

@@PickleballMedicine Not so sure about that! Lol😊
Already have the J3. Awaiting the J2Ti to arrive. I can't wait to have both to swap for consistent but different game feel for battle.
Great review! I can't wait to try this paddle!
Thank you, let me know what you think when you try it!
Awesome plushness and pop comparisons! Exactly what I've been wanting🎉 the j2Ti sounds amazing

Is the face layer just the Ti or does it have multiple layers like the Shapeshifter and Flare?
Great review as always. I've been happy with my J2K, and don't think I want more pop, but the plusher feel is appealing. J2Ti does look better... 🤔😂

I'll be very interested to hear your take on the two.. lmk what you think when you get to compare them!
Good review, thanks
Great review, thanks!
You bet, hope it was helpful!
How did you get a higher pop on the j2ti compared to the j2k? All the others say it’s less poppy and more plush than the j2k just wondering !
Great Review! I currently use the Neonic Flow and was curious how you would compare the two, primarily in the aspect of control? Thanks!
Would love to hear this comparison too.
Which paddle would you recommend more for low level / beginner J2K or J2TI? Any longevity/durability difference?
Will they jave a J3Ti option at some point? that may be interesting for me anyway.
