There is a lot of what I call mostly/simi-rural areas all over North Ga but what I have always thought of as "rural" has all but disappeared with the influx of people. There is plenty of rural agriculture but anywhere you drive in N. Ga you are never far from a town or fair sized community. Even South Georgia is fast becoming simi-rural.
Great little side road trip. I know all those smells you're talking about, especially the chicken houses :)
