Glen Campbell Sings "Smoke From a Distant Fire"/Roy Clark

  • Опубликовано: 5 сен 2024
  • From February 1978, Glen Campbell sings the Sanford-Townsend Band hit "Smoke From a Distant Fire"; he then joins guest host Roy Clark and presents him with a golfing trophy; Glen & Roy then play "Wildwood Flower" on the same guitar at the same time--Glen reaches around Roy to play while Roy's playing! The segment wraps up with Glen singing the Rod McKuen song "If You Go Away". This is Glen's only known performance of "Smoke..." and he never released this song on an album or a single.

One of my faves being that Sanford & Townsend are from my area. I can't believe Glen hit those notes in "Smoke". I knew he was really a super-talented guy, but I didn't know his range was that good. His vocals reaches halfway into a 3rd octave if you compare this song with a baritone song like "Wichita Lineman". Most people can't cover 2 octaves.
