What I like about your videos in Japan, even the first ones, is you don't just go to the popular or trendy (and very crowded) places and eat the stuff other foreign visitors have put up in their vlogs or Instagram and then rave about familiar tastes or say "ewww" or pass on the unfamiliar ones. You have had experience living and traveling in Asia, but you're looking to try and experience new things when you travel, and especially Audrey appears to have done extensive research and is great at explaining what you are doing or where you are visiting, and her Japanese pronunciation is pretty good. You're willing to go early or at off-times to avoid the crowds, which is what I hate the most about traveling in Japan, (in addition to the Asian heat and humidity of summer), and you don't mind doing a little hiking or walking to enjoy nature or get to the interesting or important sites away from the crowded urban or developed areas. You also try to travel economically (as I do) but still experience a variety of lodging, activities, and food. You have learned about and adapted to many Japanese customs and don't come across as ignorant or arrogant, bumbling tourists as some people from English-speaking countries do (Maybe Canadians are just more polite and respectful than many Americans, as the stereotype goes.) The only Japanese custom I think you should remember when you wear kimono or yukata is the left side always goes OVER the right side, so your right hand can slide into the opening. Only deceased people are dressed in kimono with the right side over the left. (A lot of "bad luck" Japanese customs or etiquette are related to death or funerals.) Keep up the great travel vlogs!
Oh my goodness, the yukatas!!! We were taught which side goes overtop on our very first trip to Japan years ago, and as I was putting mine on this time around, I hesitated. I couldn't remember which side goes over. I am certain we got it wrong because right side over feels more natural. Thank you for the reminder and for the kind words.
Cool! Those snow monkeys must have been living their best lives: soaking in hot springs, munching on fresh fruit, and napping in sunbeams. But kidding aside, Japan is one of the many countries I love the most. Suddenly felt nostalgic during the time when I visited Japan to film one of our TV show episode last year.
Thank you, Jamie! During our first Japan trip, we realized our favourite places were the rural ones and we didn't even visit that many. This time around, we decided to focus on those types of destinations and loved it! We have loads of videos to come from the Japanese Alps. 😊
Sam and Audrey, We love this video so much. That we watched it three times. Harriet and I have been to Yamanouchi in the Nagano Prefecture. Totally enjoyed the snow monkeys and the many onsens . We could have spent the whole day just watching the snow monkeys. We got there mid afternoon. How cute were they ? So Cute.! Hope you guy are doing ok. Sending you Hugs🫂 and Kisses💋 from Harriet , Jim and Yuki Richmond, Va.
Aww, thank you Jim and Harriet! It makes us happy to hear that you enjoyed the video that much. 😊 It was a really fun travel experience - we could've watched the monkeys swim and wrestle in the hot springs all day! 🐒 We weren't sure what to expect, but this place exceeded our expectations. 🌿 I hope you guys are having a great week! 💛
I stayed in that exact same ryokan (even the exact same room) at the first part of December. It was quit an experience to exit the shower into the freezing cold night air and jumping into the hot springs!
thank you again.we haven't finished discovering this splendid country.the many videos you made have made me eat a lot of ramens here in france since then!on the other hand, let me tell you without irony that you two have become authentic japanese at the 28th minute of the video
Hey guys, I really loved this one!! The monkeys are worth that extra hike up the mountain. Great video and once again you are making me want to go to Japan again.
Snow monkeys! Of course. Re being close and getting up early: we slept just close to Stonehenge in the UK at a lovely b and b, got there as it opened, was amazing, we were all alone. The first bus arrived as we left.
I have been to Nagano once , I randomly went into an apple farm , the old lady there was so kind to give me some free apple , that was a very warm experience to me ❤
Love your videos. I’m going solo to Japan in June for a month, and your info and presentations has been so helpful and fun! You two are so watchable! Korea?
Thank you! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the videos. Wishing you a wonderful trip to Japan. Korea would be a great idea for our next destination - we do love it there!
Ahh, the famous RUclips algorithm! 😢 It makes me sad when videos don't even reach those who've subscribed to the channel, but I'm glad you found the video anyway.
@@samuelandaudrey indeed I don’t understand I’ve been watching every single of your vlogs for years now (commenting regularly and getting answers from you as well so you’d hope it would be obvious but unfortunately does not seem )I’m not sure what I was looking at then I saw your thumbnail… wth ?! I thought I let you know 🤯Not cool 😔 but anyway …unfortunately I couldn’t watch the vlog on my phone that’s another story so back home time to share and watch with the family 😘😘
Can you pick me up a keychain while you're there? I forgot to do so during my last visit. LOL! In all seriousness, love the video and brought back good memories of my trip last year. I ended up taking a combination of metro / local bus to get there.
Guys, from the outside it looks like you eat a lot, but you keep in great physical shape. How is this possible? Don't you eat anything between filming?🥰
Haha, we do eat a lot, but we also walk all day! The walk to see the snow monkeys was 40 minutes EACH WAY and we did it TWICE! So it was quite the workout. 😅

As a long term watcher of your previous (pre COVID-19) Japanese i really appreciated your going to less touristy regions.

So wonderful you got to see the monkeys although sure you were hot and tired afterwards. It did look like a nice walk through the forest.
It was definitely worth hiking back a second time to see the monkeys. They were so cute and playful! 😊🐒

Sí, hoy publicamos el 1er video de Japón en el canal en Español. Ya estamos editando esos videos!
スイミングモンキー!!!www
Honey wear your yukata left over right. Right over left is for a deceased person. 😂 😮
I'm pretty sure we wore it wrong at every single ryokan... Who knew such a small detail could carry so much meaning?! 😅😅
It's pronounced gee as in clarified butter gee. ser.Not guy ser
