Bartender (27) Arrested for Assault After Catfight With her Roommate

- Around 7:23 PM on February 13, 2024, Officer Ryan Szaniszlo with the Ventnor City Police Department responded to a call of a domestic dispute at a residential address. The caller had told dispatch that the other woman she lived with entered her locked bedroom and initiated a physical altercation. As Officer Szaniszlo arrived at the residence, he observed a 27-year-old woman having a physical altercation with her 56-year-old roommate, while a 44-year-old male was attempting to deescalate the situation. The women were identified as 27-year-old Kelsey and 56-year-old Susan.
They told the officer that all 3 residents inside the house were roommates. He observed physical injuries on both Kelsey and Susan. As Officer Szaniszlo was conducting his investigation, other officers arrived on scene to assist. First responders with the Ventnor City Fire Department arrived to evaluate both women, and they both declined further medical attention. As the officers continued interviewing all 3 residents during the course of their investigation, they determined that Kelsey was the primary aggressor. However, both women had to be arrested because they lived together and this would be considered a domestic violence situation.
Officer Michael Whalen placed Kelsey under arrested and transported her to the Ventnor City Police Department for further processing. He initially placed Kelsey in a cell as they processed Susan. Kelsey was then finger printed and photographed. Neither woman wished to pursue a temporary restraining order against the other. After they finished processing both arrestees, they were both charged with simple assault and released pending their court appearances.

Same here. Had my experience with roommates in past. Always ends up a shit show.

@@kittyfan I got the impression that after the cop talked to the boyfriend upstairs in his bedroom, the boyfriend started changing his story down in the living room in front of Kelsey, that's what I noticed.

@@kairi1769 I agree with you, that law is not appropriate, to say the least.

It's clear as day who the aggreser was. Kelsey is the roommate from hell.
Absolutely that's Kelsey!! 👿
And she would be out of my house ASAP!!!
The older woman is more sane and sensible than the young weirdo
The older woman is the one with a job, a car, license and probably credit to get the house. While the other one is on unemployment, napping all day and inconsiderate of the others time. When the older woman gets tired of waiting after she’s worked all day, is tired and no longer feels like taking her shopping, the younger one explodes. Why? What did she need that night that was so important it would anger her to the point of breaking into her room and hitting someone twice her age who does all this for her? Maybe booze. Maybe she’s just an inconsiderate control freak. Whatever the case, I’d cut those ties and the younger one can figure it out on her own.
DEFINITELY!
You definitely called it!
I thought that is what she said, saying the older lady has no job but then immediately after says she's riding out unemployment as long as she can even tho she could have got a job. And bragging about a job u haven't even worked a single day for as an employed person is laughable. Yet the older woman is in work clothes, has a car, and u were asleep when she was going to do u a favor for. All with the excuse a job u haven't even started.

the first indication i had that kelsey was the issue is why she was insentient that she did not want to press charges. .. she was afraid that if she be caught and it would be worse. if the door to the older ladies bedroom was broken then then kelsey is at fault .. just because the fight moved to the living room doesnt mean the older woman was not defending herself. this makes me ill.

The older roommate should not have been charged period. Kelsey was the aggressor, broke into her locked room and attacked her. I sincerely hope the other woman can get a restraining order, but since they decided to arrest both under mutual combat, I doubt it..
The investigating officer is a moron. He needs to be fired. He was fishing SO hard to make sure Kelsey wasn't the aggressor, thet she wasn't the instigator when clearly she was. She's dangerous.
I felt the same way. The officer with the tobbagon had it right. Kelsey is unemployed, with no car, and needs a ride to the store but falls asleep?
The story is that the younger woman unlocked the older woman’s door and they began fighting. So she’s the aggressor. Ok. The older woman was defending herself. But the older woman doesn’t explain how the fight progressed into the living room which according to the male roommate happened after the younger woman went upstairs and came back down. The cop sees that as both being the aggressor. The older woman can’t claim self defense again in the living room.
@LTVegas-vf6km Fore sure. Also, when the moron officer walked in, it was KELSEY who launched at Susan. That was clear as day. I feel bad for Susan - the puppy owner, and at the same time, her vocabulary cracked me up! F this and f that sh*t.. her F bombs were easy flowing on point! I woulda felt the same way.
I think the cop is too when he does that!
@@LTVegas-vf6kmI may be wrong but I thought the older women had indicated to the officer that she went to go past Kelsey out of the bedroom after Kelsey had broken into the room and it was at that point that Kelsey attacked her. The older roommate defending herself from that and it sounds like that is the point when Kelsey's boyfriend came down the stairs and saw the older roommate being physical against Kelsey when what he actually saw was her defending herself against Kelsey's attack which happened before he came down. It sounds like he went downstairs previously when Kelsey was in her roommates room or doorway to the room arguing with her but that that exchange didn't end up getting physical....it sounds like it was subsequent to that that the roomate locked her door which was then breechd by Kelsey and then when she moved past Kelsey out of the room is when Kelsey attacked her.......not sure if that's right but it was my understanding..... It sounds like the cops thought there were 2 separate instances of a physical altercation when there was only one.....and that the older roommate started the second one after the fact....I think they just didn't understand that the boyfriend had come down the stairs twice and there were 2 separate times that Kelsey was in the vicinity of her roommates bedroom.....they conflated the 2 instances......If there HAD BEEN 2 different physical altercations and the boyfriend intervened with one then you would think the cops would wonder why he wouldn't have intervened in both instances...it's because there was only ONE time when it got physical...
One breaks into the other's room and they are both arrested? Cop didn't have the balls to make a fair decision.

Kelsey started it and took the first hits…the elderly lady was only defending herself …she didn’t want to escalate things and locked herself in her room. Kelsay(27) broke into her room. The elderly woman got off work and was tired yet was going to take her shopping, after waiting an HOUR in her car for her to come down she probably said “forget this waiting” and goes inside to rest for the night and the unemployed girl probably slept all day…I would be mad too waiting for her to come out after getting off work. Without watching the video ... anybody named Kelsey is the aggressor. So I have spoken, so I have ruled.
The little dog is the real victim. All of the screaming and yelling is traumatizing. The poor little thing must have needed walked badly. The woman comes home from work, and she didn't immediately take the pup out. She claims to have sat in the car to go shopping. When was she going to take care of the pup? It is a terrible way to treat the dog, and hopefully, it is not a regular occurrence.
She said she was waiting in the car for an hour. What a shame, she could have taken him out then gone shopping.
Why is domestic assault just like a traffic ticket? 🤨 Violent crimes should mean you go to jail.

Why the hell did she sit waiting for an hour and not walk her damn dog? That pisses me off the most. Poor dog
It should have only been the younger girl from the start. They shoulda never even considered arresting both once they found out she broke into her LOCKED ROOM. Anyone has a right to protect themselves at that point.
This is a big old mess, that cop is talking so fast and can't keep anyone's story straight. Is that cop ever going to take a breath? Omg!!!!!!!
I'm more concerned for the dog
Me too jennifer7330
I'm sorry but I think the cops got this one wrong and obviously the male didn't want to be in the middle and clearly closer to the younger chic and he kept changing his story and it was so obvious. I hope the older woman fights and wins this case! I also hope she moves out and stays far from this abusive toxic chic.
The 56 year old woman needs to live alone, not live with people who take advantage of her and hurt her.
Who sits in the car for an hour? Why wouldn't she just walk inside and get them to go shopping?
Or call or text them on their cellphones?
Exactly!! Thats why I don't believe a single word that old lady said
@@didibolter9362she did at least twice. The guy told her the younger one was sleeping the first time and she was brushing her teeth the second time.
Well obviously she fed up with it after work you never sat in your car b4 just to have a moment to yourself and she seems to be th only one working
@@lauriegialone5757Did you pay attention to the video at all? She called in twice and the boyfriend said she was sleeping the first time and brushing her teeth the second time.
They don’t have the ability to determine who started it because they weren’t there. They typically go by who has the most marks, and who has the bleeding then they arrest the other person. It’s messed up, but - traditionally the way I’ve seen it go.
DISGUSTING, UNJUSTIFIED and SICKENING! !
I cannot BELIEVE that other cop had to explain to the first cop what happened. He was about to take the victim to jail.
He needs to be retained badly. He doesn’t seem to have proper reasoning skills to be able to do his job.
This is annoying! I feel like the officer is leading the mail roommate and the video gets muted! Kelsey is clearly the aggressor!!
The cop made up his mind before he talked to the 2nd side of the story. He didnt even HEAR her tell him she broke into her room. His sgt had to tell that and he sounded shocked. Ridiculous
I appreciate that we are able to see the officers while they discuss everything..
