- Love Alexander Her With His Battle Against Cancer
Hello everyone,
Today, I sit here emotionally. I’ve broken down thinking about this happy, young person the world is about to lose. His name his Alexander Her and he is my nephew. On behalf of his family, friends, Chong and I, we are reaching out for any kind of support as they face the financial hardship coming in the next few weeks. We received heartbroken news, our little prince, Alexander Her will be leaving this world too soon. He has been diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma since 2018 and has been in and out of chemo the past few years. In the recent weeks, the cancer had returned and there is no cure left to save his life. Alexander is currently at home on hospice watch as he is given 4-8 weeks left to live. As we prepare for his last days living with cancer, we are heartbroken and helpless as we cannot do anything to ease his pain. We want to share Alexander’s story with everyone and the reason for this fundraiser.
On October 26, 2018, Alexander Her was taken to the emergency room due to extreme nausea, headaches, and vomiting while he was at school. During his time at the hospital, the doctor diagnosed Alexander with Anaplastic Ependymoma Cancer. This is a rare type of tumor that forms in the brain or spinal cord. In Alexander’s case, a tumor was found in his brain. The doctors immediately recommended surgery for him. Alexander was taken directly to surgery to remove the tumor. Alexander persevered and was able to leave the hospital a few months later. However, a few months afterwards, the same symptoms occurred again and he was sent to the emergency room once again. During his second time at the hospital, the doctors identified another tumor in the right side of his brain. Alexander underwent surgery again and had started chemotherapy. During this time, he became deaf in his right ear and lost vision in his right eye. In late 2019, he was able to return to school while getting chemotherapy treatment. In 2021, Alexander was admitted in the hospital for the third time with another tumor in his brain. His fate in life has been pre-planned. His chances of survival are minimal. Doctors said Alexander will undergo two more surgeries and may only have a 30% chance of survival even with chemotherapy treatment. The doctors mentioned that Alexander would have approximately 1-2 months left of living with medications because of how rapidly the tumor is growing in his brain. Doctors recommend for Alexander to spend his last days with the people who are closest to him.
For the past few years, Wa, as a single father, provided and cared for Alexander the best he could. He took on side jobs to give him the flexibility to take care of his son and to make ends meet for the medical treatments necessary. This fundraiser is to help alleviate the financial stressors on Wa to help financially and to allow him to spend more time with his son. Alexander does not have much time left, and we would love to be able to give Alexander the chance to live life to the fullest and experience a normal childhood. Any donations will be greatly appreciated, thank you all for your support.
