Thanks for taking me around my provincial hometown - the municipality of Lazi. I could see tidbits of changes but it's still the same old town that I knew since I was a kid. I enjoyed seeing those old Filipino-Spanish houses that are already tattered by time but still erected, especially the house of my former G5 homeroom teacher Mrs. Catada. It brings back so many memories especially if it's a fiesta in Lazi every May.

Back in the late 1940s through the late 1960s, the town of Lazi had a Playground and Park where children could play and adults could enjoy a leisurely afternoon and evening walks. This was located around the area west of the present Municipal Hall.
It had a Basketball, Court, a Tennis Court and an open-air Park for social gatherings. Located where there is now large steel structure, it was called the "Square Garden". It was so because the "Garden" was filled and surrounded with manicured hedges and all sorts of plants, making it a cool place to pass the afternoon and evening off.
Social gatherings and many other activities were held here.
Today, Lazi does not have an open-air Park or playground with enough space for anyone to exercise more social, physical and healthy activities.
The large steel structure or "Social Center" where it now hosts many activities could have been located somewhere else and still maintain its sole purpose. It instead defeats and destroys the antiquity and historical ambience of its neighbors... the old Roman Catholic Church and Convent.
Once again, very poor Management and very poor Planning there.
But then, perhaps all is not lost.
The Roman Catholic Church of Lazi owns a large lot that has remained vacated for as long as I can remember. This is located on the south side of the Church where it overlooks the lower part of town.
This area is large enough to be developed into an open-air Park and Playground, to host a number of activities and facilities beneficial for all... young and old, children and adults alike.
The Town Officials and Residents of Lazi can petition and make arrangements with the RC Church to jointly convert and develop this area into something that would make everyone happy.
Follow this creed... "Leave a legacy that people will remember you by".
    So how's that for openers.
    Alsa gyud... mga SigBin.
