Hi. 1) thx for the video 2) i want to create a level that basicly is a castle in the sky. I could manage it to build it out of cubes and cones but hov can i give it a look? Like a texture or something. Do i need like assets and basicly but them over the forms and make them "no collision"?
During the blockout process, you typically want to use simple asset props with materials that have no textures-just plain colors. This helps maintain clear readability and keeps the focus on level design. Later on, if you want to have more detailed structures, you can use assets like walls, towers, or props from the Unreal Marketplace (or you can make them yourself). You can place them over your blockout shapes, and if they’re just for appearance or for the background, you can set their collision to "No Collision" to avoid interference or to prevent player interaction.
@@gd_fuentes thanks. Now i have another question. Did u hear about the Fab store coming in october? What does that mean for free assets? The biggest sellingpoint for UE5 for me was the opportunity to create large, realistic openworld free and easy. But now megascans wount be a thing anymore...
@@andyb.4698 Yes, I saw the news, but I’m not fully up to date. From what I heard, Megascan assets will be free until the merge happens. I recommend downloading all the assets while they’re still free, and using them for your levels or designs. Once they’re in your account, they’ll be yours to keep.
Wow, what a great video! I always spent hours trying to make some simple blockmesh but this will exponentially speed that process up. Thank you!
I’m happy to hear that! Definitely Cube Grid came to change the game. It’s a really awesome tool that speeds up the blockout and prototyping process.
nice
I'm having trouble where if I save in order to playtest, I can't change my meshes after. Are they not editable after?
