      @@elenac7933 there are absolutely rude comments. Many people complained about the length of the video and called it boring. I wouldn't say "there are no bad comments" if you only looked at the top comments 3 years after this person commented.

As with all your tutorials, it is clear and well-paced, following the training mantra: "Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them what you need to tell them, tell them what you've told them". You are a pleasure to watch, a pleasure to hear and a pleasure to be taught by. Thank you.

    As a seamstress who has installed hundreds of invisible zippers, I can say this is an excellent tutorial for someone learning how to put one in. I don't know why, but I still get an amazing sense of satisfaction when I look at the finished install. They really are easier than regular zippers and you get such a professional look.

My first zip ever is finished :D I managed to change a really badly inserted in-your-face zipper on an old dress made by my mom in the 70's or the 80's that I'm refashioning into a crop top + skirt set for myself. The whole thing being very far from perfect, and me a beginner at sewing, I can't say it went smoothly... but after a lot of measuring, unpicking and restitching the skirt got a beautiful invisible zip!

    Thanks so much for the excellent tutorial! The saleslady at the fabric store advised me against invisible zippers, saying they're hard and never come out right. But I was making a skirt from traditional African fabric with shell fringe, and a visible zipper would look wrong. Your great advice, including ordering an invisible zipper foot, made my skirt come out great--like the usual wrap-around versions but without the revealing split/overlap and fussy ties--just right! Thanks again!

    I haven’t put in an invisible zipper in 20 years. I’ve ripped it out 8 times I think. I’ve been watching RUclips tutorials, struggling for about 8 hours. Ready to give up and put a lapped zipper in, but I felt my daughter’s wedding dress deserved a invisible zipper. I walked away from it to clear my head. Then your tutorial came across. So I watched it. You are a born teacher! You not only explain clearly how to do it, but how it works and some things to expect. I feel very confident I can do this now. I think it will still be difficult because of the lining. But I think I can. I wish I had found yours first. I look forward to finding more things from you once these dresses for the wedding are out of the way. 😉 Thank you for teaching.

    Excellent video! It's been ages since I have sewn anything and an invisible zipper was always a challenge. Her method makes it easier and I will no longer fear it. My daughter doesn't like most patterns on dresses out there so I have been recruited to sew a few. Beyond zippers I used to be very good. Now I am ready to get started again to custom make a few aline short sleeved dresses. Thank you so much! I appreciate your articulate instructions, great photography and thankfully no annoying background music to distract. A+++ video!

      I have finished my McCalls' skirt following your instructions. I would be very pleased with an outcome if it wouldn't be slightly too big for me in hip area. I measured myself and size 16 was exactly my size. the finished skirt however is too loose. As you said - they added 4 inches which really is too much. I wonder if I can do something now? I would hate to rework it since it is sewed so nicely :). But I suspect there is no other way?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  7 лет назад +1

      Anna Olejnik Hi Anna, is it just the hip area? Is the waist ok? In that case it should be an easy fix. Decide how much you want to take in and where? Perhaps try the skirt on inside out and pin in new stitching lines around the hip. You want to do this to the side seams only. Make sure that both sides match and re sew the seam you have pinned. Check it is correct. If it is correct then you remove the original stitching and press the seam open. If you have lots of seam allowance now you might want to trim this off and finish it as you did before. Let me know how you get on. Thank you so much for following the tutorial, I do hope you liked it! Aneka x
