Shocking that he sang like that and sang such emotive lyrics months before he died and knew he was dying at the time.

I really love this song and Freddie really delivers vocally on it even though he was very sick at the time. The band was dealing with the reality that Freddie would soon be gone when Brian wrote this song. Brian never intended for Freddie to sing it but Fred kept coming into the studio asking for stuff to sing and he said they could do whatever they wanted with it later, so Brian let him sing this one, not sure that he could because it is pretty dynamic vocally. Freddie delivered his best right to the very end. Thank you for reacting to this song.

Sorry but I think you've mixed this up with another song.
This was for their Innuendo album
Who else was going to sing it?
When Brian finished the demo he was only able to sing it in falsetto so he thought the range might be too hard for Freddie in chest voice.
Its difficult to do never mind when your sick, they could have lowered it but Freddie sang it as composed and nailed it
Brian composed most of it and completed the mapping and demo
But he has said in many interviews he and Freddie wrote the lyrics
The theme of a heart broken clown with his smile painted on was probably Freddie idea as it was the theme of song he used as intro to hard life
And was very much Freddie attitude especially when he was sick
Brian said they had solidified rhe first verse probably chorus, he said he had enough material to finish the last verse and later thought of butterfly wings

One of the best songs ever written!! Brian May penned this beauty with some collaborations from Freddie!! Queen members were aware of Freddie’s illness and the unknown future of Queen without their legendary frontman!! 😢 🥺 Freddie insisted on making music until he died!! MOTHER LOVE is the last song Freddie sang but couldn’t finish recording the last verse so Brian sung the last verse! I can’t get thru that song without crying!! 😩😭

This was really a great reaction to watch! This is Freddie at the end of his life, many people believe that his voice might of been at it's best just before Freddie died. The Show Must Go On was a top 5 hit only one month before Freddie's death. Queen's last album is a fantastic album with amazing vocals and songs, I suggest, Innuendo - Queen & Don't Try So Hard - Queen. Both of these songs are from Queen's last album before Freddie's death. These are great songs and great vocal performances as well. Something else that would definitely give you chills is an album Freddie Mercury recorded with one of the best opera sopranos, their voices are heavenly together, I suggest you check out Barcelona - Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe at La Nit 1988.
Brain May basically wrote this song about Freddie's situation at the time, but the song really deals with how the band was feeling at the time. Brian May was fearful that Freddie would struggle with the song, but he sang all of the high notes in one take. Freddie Mercury was quite sick at this time, he couldn't really stand up and sing of long periods. (Your voice is the best when you stand and sing).

Legend has it that Brian thought this would be too hard for Freddie to sing, as physically he was weak from his illness. Freddie downed a couple vodkas, said "I'll do it dear" and nailed it. Who knows how it actuially went down. Anyway I loved your reaction...

This right here, is, if you ask any vocal teacher, THE HARDEST Queen song to sing, with the only song coming close Who wants to live forever. The song features 2 E5flat vocals in chest voice, only a few notes lower than the highest part of both Bohemian Rhapsody, however these were sung by Roger, and Under Pressure. But these two are sung in falsetto, while the vocals in this song was sung in chest voice, which is so much fing harder... This song is just insane, probably my favourite Queen song of all time.

It is almost unbelievable what freddie was capable of with his voice when he was already very ill. I am always impressed by his strength, determination and perseverance listening to this song. "I have to find the will to carry on" and Freddie has found it, he sang, sang and sang until he could. He was a musician and performer from top to toe.

This was such a beautiful song… the video was made after Freddie died 6 weeks later. It was a tribute. He sang it in one take. Last song Freddie recorded was Mother Love. He had to stop and go home because of exhaustion, he never returned and Brian sings final chorus…. RIP Freddie Darling…😢

Even tho the song in its entirety wasnt a onetake, the high note at the end was. That is what Brian stated in an interview, and there is no reason not to think so. Remember this song was recorded late 1990, around a year before he died, so he was suffering extremly hard from Aids at that point.

😊 such an incredible band. So diverse. So, so many songs to discover. For later songs, like this is, try I Want it All, and Innuendo. Please keep it coming with Queen. You can pick any song, and not be disappointed. If you want to listen to a full concert, look up wembley 1986. If you want to react to it, it would probably have to be broken up in to 5 -6 segments, but it's worth it. Thanks for your efforfts, I always look forward to watching your reactions.

After his passing I wrote a poplimerick for a radio dj. Had to contain the name of the band and the titel of the song, here is a translation:
When you had to walk with aids true life, on and on,,
You kept performaning, even when pain cuts like a knife, you still were strong.
    Cause you, my beautiful Queen
you have let your fans and the world seen,
That the Show must go on....
