If you really want to blow your mind. Try how I set up mine an 11.5 and throw a tour cog on and take it to 9.5. Mine has out performed every fitted driver I own. I’m hitting it every bit as far as a big dog ball speed up and swing speed a hair lower but with less than half the dispersion. Tee it high and hitting 4* up I’m launch 17 with sub 2k spin and so far 86% of fairways hit according to arcoss with it. I’ve gamed a brnr for years and loved it but I set this up as a driver and it truely is that a smaller cc forward cg short shafted driver. It’s like a modern tech forgiving driver with the foot print of circa 2000’

It's been worth every penny spent. Call it whatever you want but the top of my bag is mini at 11.5, HL 3 wood (16.5) and 7 wood. All are fairway finders !!!!

I feel like the mini should have been tee'd up a tad bit higher to get more distance, IMO its a gimmick, has a use but not for mass appeal

Got the 13.5 callaway mini. Gained yards over my driver. Thats right. I can’t hit it off the deck. It’s a total driver replacement. And I am overjoyed with it

Only for the reason that a) I can’t afford one and b) they are impossible to buy, I tried an experiment that other Utubers have suggested. Callaway Max D 12* driver, 3 wood length shaft with the 5gm weight replaced with an 18gm weight. Lofted the head up to 14*. Had a range session and two rounds of golf with this and a borrowed (TaylorMade) mini driver. My shortened driver was “significantly” more forgiving, marginally longer (only a few yards) but most importantly way way more accurate than the mini drive. So for the cost of a spare shaft and a new 18gm head weight I have (for me) a club that I can play noticeably better, straighter and longer than a mini driver and way way way more manageable than my full length driver. The other bonus is that for the couple of local courses that are way more open and forgiving I can stick the original shaft and head weight back in, but in reality I probably won’t as the (small) increase in distance, perhaps 7 to 10 yards at best just isn’t worth the loss of accuracy. For the record I’m a 70 year old 19 handicap with an average driver distance of 190 yards in its new configuration.

Turned mine into a big headed 3 wood to hit off the tee on tight holes. Cranked it up to 14.5 degrees and added a shorter shaft. Can also hit it off a good lie in the fairway. Has replaced the traditional 3 wood in my bag.

I got the Ai Smoke mini and love it... I lost a little distance from a normal driver due to the shaft length and flex, but once upgraded I think it'll catch up!

I’ve helped my high handicap friends for years and usually the first thing I tell them after a few holes watching their game is ditch the driver and stick with 3 wood off the tee. They hit way more fairways at that point.
I think this club is perfect to replace driver off the tee for so many golfers and keep the 3 wood for off the deck shots probably.
I’d love to have one but simply decide course to course maybe swap out my driver for this one when they narrow off the tee
    Great video matt!

It still baffles me how they hit 3 wood better as you say ...the driver head is huge and not much in length ..the stats disprove your theory though 🤷👍👍 not saying who's right or wrong but I'd suggest they don't hit up on driver and chop down on a 3 wood and it'll curve less due to loft that's all it is 👍 get lesson learn to hit up then driver is your friend

    • @bradyplustwos
      @bradyplustwos Месяц назад +1

@@petekenny3774 my guess was the loft helped them elevate and carry a good shot. Usually older men with low swing speed hitting down or even plane instead of upward trajectory. A lot could even be physiological. Everyone wants to “rip” driver and they over swing with slightly longer shaft and just cannot find that enormous face, squarely. Very much why I like the mini driver idea, more loft, larger than 3 wood head. Yeah my suggestion was reactionary to their play and wouldn’t be for everyone and not permanent but saved a lot of cussing off the tee😋 hopefully built their confidence and enjoyment of the round till they got more time to work out that driver swing.
This goes back over decades of playing maybe my theory is outdated with these higher MOI drivers but as a greens keeper I watch a lot of golf shot and still see 2024 drivers dribble 100 yards dead into the woods 🫣
This game is hard no matter what lol

Think you missed a trick with this video. Should have filmed it at a range and got people who struggle with fairways off a tee. This is who in my opinion it’s aimed at

The extra mass in the Callaway makes it a stronger option than the Taylor Made. Both 11.5 degree clubs perform well downwind, however both struggle into the wind in terms of flight penetration. This makes driver essential.
On the positive side, one would suggest these clubs are more forgiving, especially for players who swing steeper and struggle with driver path.

Struggled for a while with my driver, went to using 3 wood. Then got a 3 wood shaft for driver and created my own mini driver I guess. Goes 20-30 yards longer than 3 wood. Sometimes more lol. Definitely made driver easier to hit.

  • @dexternewton

This is a good start for a review / comparison, but you need to get the full story by showing what your 3 wood does for you (better and worse) and also what the lower loft minidriver does for you (better and worse). It seems to me that IF you can hit the mini as well off the deck as your 3 wood, then it's definitely a bonus as it certainly must be better off a tee, right? I'd think the mini would be more versatile and a bit longer than a 3 wood, so nothing but upsides there (unless you can show that the 3wood does something better). IF the mini is a great fairway finder and also a club that lets you get after a longer par 5 in 2 it's got to be more beneficial than a 3 wood, right? I'd like to see more.

Callaway is a true mini driver, TM is a fat fairway. I would like to see someone put the Mini in the highest loft and lowest spin setup and have someone who swings it slow, male or female, hit it and see if it works better than a driver.

Want to know why these clubs are great, My driver is a mess. One day great, one week shite. 3 wood money every time. I can push my driver 280, if these clubs go 15 yards shorter, but play as a 3wood, it’s a no brainer. These clubs aren’t for you guys who hit balls everyday. They are for me, who plays 2 times a month but still capable of knocking it around for 10 over. And yes I’m happy with that

I think if I’m correct a 2 wood is the same loft as a mini driver in some cases but around the same size head and face depth as a 3 wood . Versus a mini it’s a bigger footprint and a deeper face

This club seems to be totally pointless, I think this is a case of the manufacturers trying to create a need when there isn't one, sure some people will buy into it because they like to keep up with modern trends but they're just putting money into the manufacturers pockets needlessly.

  • @DMKFACTOR

Gimmick unless you have a slow swing speed and need the loft! Really nothing more than a strong 3 wood. Nothing but a marketing ploy to separate you from 500 us!
