I'm not sure if you still want advice but I'm in the national guard and we get 100% tuition plus like gi bill kickers and etc like an extra 350+396 a month as long as your enrolled in school and with my contract beings though I am in school they put it so I cant get deployed while I'm still in school like so until I graduate I'm not eligible to deploy

I’m currently a full time college student and I’m also in the National guard I feel that is the best route for us young college students. You only have drill one weekend out of every month and they let you go early the second day. Not only that they pay off your schooling for not only junior colleges but for universities as well so you still get the full college life experience. If you plan to be in school for a while that’s the best choice. And about the deployment the thing I love about National guard they ask you do you want to deploy and it’s always many volunteers if it’s enough going they won’t make you go unless they need you.

That’s why I’m going army national guard. Im a high school Junior and plan on attending a university where I’ll be majoring in biology or health sciences while also being in the pre med program. My goal is to become a surgeon but I wanna be in the military while I’m doing my studies and I feel the national guard is my best opportunity. So I’d say go guard for the people that wanna do college full time.

I’m almost about to enlist in the Army National Guard but now I’m debating on going into the Army active duty. I’m done with my freshman year of college and need that free tuition but idk if I should do active duty or NG. I’ve heard active duty they pay you more and you could take online classes after basic and ait

You know the Yellow Ribbon Military program is offering $30,000 plus the G.I. Bills $20,000 and this is offered from all branches as long as you serve active Atleast 3 years. Also if you want to college then after you get your degree you’d get paid more coming in as an officer. Plus your credits can help you rank up faster, and if annoying tells you that you can’t switch then they’re lying. You’ll be alright, it’s just another challenge to overcome. But would recommend the Army over the Marine Corp?

im in the Air National Guard (Air force part time) im going to school with tuition paid 100% my parents are only coming out of pocket for dorms plus an extra $300 something a month of my own money to keep (im just an e-1 but of course your monthly pay would go up with rank) with the guard you are at school or home full time and military 1 weekend a month. when you say “a unit that doesn’t care” what do you mean? from the way im receiving it the guard cares that everyone is in school regardless of what unit you are at. the guard is mainly used for paying for school so i wouldnt worry about any run ins with school and the guard. even tho im air force and you are army they’re literally the same thing just different branches guard literally lets you live your civilian life while still being in the military , guard can also put you in the road to good paying federal jobs so i hope that you can take something from this!

I’ve been both Active duty and Army national Guard 11B. If you wanna go to school yeah the Guard is the better option.. however being in the guard will make you miss the regular army.. most guard units are trash and the leadership sucks .. I say stay active duty for your first enlistment contract, see other bases, make rank, get some awards/tabs, go to some schools all that shit and then go National Guard because you will not get those same opportunities.. 🤷🏿‍♂️

I’ve been a reservist for a while and though you may get more benefits education wise as a guardsman. Switching to the national guard could hinder you from getting promoted because there are slots. If there is not an open slot for your MOS you will never get promoted. Opportunity that you may get as a reservist you may not get as a guardsman because founds a through your state and not the federal funding (big army) Also the conditional release process is not as simple as your recruiter makes it sound simply because it’s about numbers and if you are needed on the books they won’t release you. Good luck with everything I hope this gives you some insight.

If it gets denied then you’ll just be living the same life you are already now. The only negative thing you could do is not give it a try in my opinion. Wish you the best of luck.

If you can find people who are in the guard to give you insight, I’d try talking to them! Also, if the guard gives you more benefits towards school, then I would think it’s worth it. I understand the worry of getting stuck in a crappy unit. However, that could possibly happen at any moment in your reserve unit if leadership was to change. My advice would be definitely pray about it and find people who are in the guard to talk about it/get authentic insight. I wish you the best of luck in your final decision! 🤍

Also if you do smp program which is a program in ROTC i think you can’t be deployed until after you graduate IF you were to get deployed . You would too look into more information on that and also i think you shouldn’t let your battle buddy at your unit discourage you from applying. I think you should just try regardless it still counts towards your time. Lol (Army Reserve soldier here)😂

    Dear Miss Shaniyah Carmichael,
First and foremost, I want to say thank you for showcasing your vulnerability and reaching out to us with your genuine approach regarding your thoughts as to what you need to do next regarding what steps you should take to further yourself in your next chapter....
I want you to know i have been following you since day one...... I absolutely love your video channel and you have been nothing but informative and 100% real at all times and you deserve to Have the favor returned to you from people who genuinely care about you and your journey.
I,myself, happen to be a 31 year old woman from Boston, Massachusetts and I am in the process of enlisting into the army. I plan on doing active duty and I have already gone to college and lived a beautiful life as far as every goal I've ever wanted to achieve. I am simply joining due to bucket lists circumstances and quite frankly, I know what the real world is like as a civilian adult for 14 years now....
    With that being said......
Please never forget what your original goals were when you 1st enlisted. You have clearly stated that your priority is schooling regarding your college education. If that's the case, then in my opinion of course, you need to follow and fulfill your souls request. Do not let your path take you in different directions remain focused on what your original goals are and make the appropriate choices that will suit your needs. You would never know what your future will be unless you follow through and pursue what it is that you originally set out to do.
I look forward to hearing about your next decision regarding your journey. Thank you for being you and I'm a huge fan.
    Best regards,
    Jacklyn

Follow your first mind. If guard is better when it comes to education, then switch. Follow your goals of going to school. Getting a scrappy unit is small compared to getting that education that last a lifetyle. I've had a scrappy unit and I've had a good unit. I was active duty so you may need a National Guard soldier to give you more insights. Good luck!
