The Charlatans are a British rock/indie band, and The Only One I Know, from 1990, is one of their best known tracks. Despite the band being from the Birmingham area they became associated with the Madchester scene of indie bands, although some have said that they really started in Northwich, south of Manchester.
This track reflects a lot of the influences on the band, with some lyrics from a Byrds song, an organ riff from Deep Purple and an almost Motown guitar sound.
