    Thanks for sharing your experience! I started work in consulting at the start of the pandemic so I never got the chance to travel, but I agree with everything you said. There are pros & cons, but I would recommend those that are interested in consulting to network & reevaluate what a “day in the life” looks like. The expectation vs reality hit hard for me because I got everything besides the perks/selling points of consulting

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  3 года назад

      Definitely. The main selling points are usually the travel perks, but now that's nonexistent! :( Hope you have adjusted well and are enjoying your new job!

    I started working in consulting back in September and I've struggled with creating separation between work hours and my personal life since work is just a login away. Also, it can feel that others are working late online so I should be too which has not been good for my mental health. Have you had any issues creating separation since working from home and do you have any tips on how I should create a better work/ life balance? This is my first full-time role since graduating from college so any tips would be appreciated!

    i think that the virtual thing is going to stay because like you said is time and cost effective , not only in consulting

    We have loved using Miro to run workshops and brainstorm sessions we used to do in person! I think it made certain meetings more fun and engaging for me than they would have been in person

    Thanks for this video. It was a very interesting one and most of your assessment on how consulting has changed and might develop are applicable to other jobs (including mine). The pandemic has surely changed the way we do and see work, hopefully for the best. Anyway, thanks once for this post and looking forward to see more content on your channel. Take care and keep healthy. 😊

      I probably won't do an exact video like that (since I graduated from college 8 years ago!) but I have a video called 'what i wish i knew before college' :) ruclips.net/video/KNZp1cvULgQ/видео.html

    Hi Kristina, I have been a fan since your travel videos with Joan! Could you do a video about you juggling a full-time job and RUclips (as a side hustle)? I am struggling with my full-time job and a podcasting gig, so I would like to listen to your advice/opinions! Sending you lots of love!

    Thank you, very informative video. I was wondering how the working hours have changed. I've seen that finance has been 100+h weeks. Hope that hours haven't been increased by a huge amount.

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  3 года назад +2

      It's weird because I think hours haven't increased (they might even have decreased on average over the entire year, especially since work slowed down at the beginning of the pandemic), but I think people feel way more burnt out! We also used to have much longer hours because of accounting for business travel time... and now we don't have that.

    Thanks for sharing! How are the work hours for an average week at your boutique consulting firm?

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  3 года назад +1

      For the Associate to Senior Consultant level, it's probably 45-50 hrs/week (but I think it used to be higher pre-pandemic). I actually don't usually work more than 40 hours a week, and I like to think I'm just really efficient, because I do have a lot of projects going on! :)

    • @xueqir
      @xueqir 3 года назад

      @@bykchoi Cool! Does the 45-50hrs/week include all the traveling and flying? Or are the 45-50hrs/week actual working hours meeting prep/meetings, making slide decks etc.

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  3 года назад +1

      Right now, there is no traveling or flying so it doesn't include any of that! Before the pandemic, average weekly hours were usually a bit longer and included travel time.
