Is this a public relations stunt? I don't understand why the baseball league would give a player this kind of money, and not be guaranteed to get a Championship out of the player. I wonder, what his performance expectations are set as a standard for Mike. Is he gonna be expected to make most if the home runs?
Are the networks still willing to pay big $$$$ to televise these games? How many sponsors are still ready to pay $$$$ for 30 second ads? Can these 3 hour games still maintain the short attention span millenials?
I love the sport as a Dominican Yankees fan but, not going to lie Baseball is an old mans sport. The NBA, NFL and UFC all have a better product in my view.
