- Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the leading spinners in world cricket for a while now. He currently has the second-highest number of wickets by an Indian in Test cricket, with Anil Kumble ahead of him.
Ashwin recently released his book, titled “I Have the Streets”, co-authored by leading cricket writer with ESPNcricinfo, Sidharth Monga. The book chronicles Ashwin’s transition from gully cricket and his quest to constantly improve.
In an interview to The Hindu, Ashwin opens up on several topics that shaped his life and career. He spoke about his fondness for reading; why he’d love to go back to playing gully cricket on the streets of West Mambalam; his fondness for “mottamaadi” (terrace) cricket; what Tamil cinema has taught him; how the movie “Three Idiots” had a big impact on him; why the thought of being a motivational figure doesn’t sit comfortably with him, and more.

Incidentally I stayed in Vivekanandapuram and am 4th batcher from PSBB Nungambakkam - So one can relate
If only I had that addiction.
Wonderful interview
My fav❤
Discipline is everything
Fielding la onum ila. Adan Jadeja got selected. Else Ashwin is much better player
Jadeja is a left arm spinning all rounder. Both of them don't compete
" I have the streets" sounds like the title of an American drug dealer's autobiography.
