For me it makes sense that you can keep your specialist unit. Otherwise you shouldn't benefit from eco specialist either or whatever. Just don't make the spec unit your main carry and it should be fine!
I love the russian doll strat myself too lol, i just wish the number of chaff created by those kind of techs was way better. Imo for fangs and crawlers it should defo create double the number (especially for one-offs like the marksmans one)

Cos like, 5 fangs per marksman for a minimum of 350 is crazy expensive, that's 3 whole squads of fangs as a drop
Especially because it's probably not your first tech, so we're talking another 200 because of the increase in cost.
